Campgrounds and RV parks near Gardiner, NY

Gardiner sits in Ulster County at the base of the Shawangunk Ridge, about 90 miles north of New York City. The town serves as a staging point for Minnewaska State Park Preserve, which consists of more than 24,000 acres of wild and scenic land located on Route 44/55, five miles west of the intersection with Route 299 in Gardiner, and for the adjoining Mohonk Preserve. RV renters have several close options. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Lazy River is a family resort set on 100 rolling acres overlooking the Wallkill River, with Yogi Bear's Water Zone and Splash Pad, a lazy river, and jumping pillows. Rondout Valley RV Campground, in nearby Accord, is a Thousand Trails property with full-hookup sites, cabins, and creek frontage. So-Hi Campgrounds offers a smaller, quieter alternative in the same corridor. Slightly farther afield, New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday sits in Plattekill in the Hudson Valley south of Gardiner, and Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park, a 356-acre state park in Dutchess County on the east shore of the Hudson River, puts campers on the river itself with marina access and cabins.

State park sites are booked through the New York State Parks ReserveAmerica website. Reservations must be made one day ahead of arrival and can be made up to nine months in advance. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on day of arrival, and this applies to campsites only. Cabins at Norrie carry minimum-stay rules during peak weeks. Rondout Valley is booked through Thousand Trails, either with a Camping Pass membership or as a non-member reservation. Stay-length caps and site-move rules apply during the peak summer window, so confirm current policies at booking. Jellystone Park Gardiner, Newburgh KOA, and So-Hi Campgrounds book directly through their own websites. For summer weekends and holiday windows, reserve two to three months out. Jellystone often requires multi-night minimums on summer weekends and holiday periods.
