Campgrounds and RV parks near Glasco, NY

Glasco is a small Hudson River hamlet in the town of Saugerties, Ulster County, sitting between the river and the eastern foothills of the Catskill Mountains. RV renters use it as a base for two distinct landscapes: the working riverfront and rail-trail towns of the Hudson Valley to the east, and the state-owned Catskill Forest Preserve to the west. Camping options near Glasco spread across both banks of the Hudson River, and most facilities operate on a seasonal schedule that closes during the coldest months. Private parks in the immediate area include New Life Campground, Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds Inc, Blue Mountain Campground, Camp Goat Hill, and Brook-n-Wood Family Campground. Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds Inc, on Blue Mountain Road in Saugerties, lists 170 total sites, 130 with electric and 80 with sewer, plus a camp store, dump station, hot showers, laundry, an outdoor pool, and fishing. Public campgrounds in the surrounding Catskill Forest Preserve and nearby state parks fill the gap for renters who want state land instead of resort amenities.

Public sites in the Catskills and along the Hudson are managed by two state agencies that share one booking portal. New York state parks are run by OPRHP, while Catskill Forest Preserve campgrounds are run by DEC; both book through the ReserveAmerica portal. Do not call the individual campgrounds to make a reservation. All reservations must be made using the ReserveAmerica system. Camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance. Sites become available at the 9-month window at 8AM Monday to Friday and 9AM Saturday and Sunday from March 15 to Labor Day, and at 9AM daily from the day after Labor Day through March 14. Private parks near Glasco book directly. Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds Inc takes reservations through its own website and phone line rather than ReserveAmerica.
