Campgrounds and RV parks near Goshen, NY

In town, the Goshen Historic Track and the adjacent Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame anchor a compact downtown walk. Families typically pair Goshen with LEGOLAND New York, located in Goshen itself, and with Hudson Valley farm stands and orchards in season. The Great American Weekend, Orange County's Fourth of July celebration, brings Grand Circuit harness racing to the Historic Track. For outdoor time, the Neversink and Delaware rivers offer fly-fishing, tubing, and kayaking, particularly near KOA Holiday Deerpark New York City and Oakland Valley Campground. Wawayanda State Park delivers serious hiking: a roughly twenty-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail runs through the park, and more than sixty miles of marked trails wind through forest and around Wawayanda Lake. Bear Mountain, Harriman State Park, and the Shawangunk Ridge are all within an hour's drive.

The Goshen area runs through four distinct seasons, and that drives both campground availability and crowd levels. Late spring through early fall is the core RV window. KOA Holiday Deerpark New York City operates from April 1 through October 31, and Wawayanda State Park camping follows a similar April through October season. Most riverfront and seasonal parks run on the same calendar. Black Bear Campground is one of the few full-service options that stays open year-round. Summer is peak. Weekends fill quickly around the Fourth of July when Goshen Historic Track hosts Grand Circuit races, and again through fair season and other summer holidays. Pools at most parks follow the standard Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend schedule. Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and Hudson Valley foliage that typically peaks in mid to late October. Spring can be wet and muddy on dirt roads and primitive sites, and bug pressure rises in May and June. Winter visitors should expect snow, freezing temperatures, and limited amenities even at year-round parks.

Sites near Goshen range from full-hookup resort-style pads to primitive state-park group sites. Black Bear Campground is RV-only with 160 sites, 154 full hookups, 10 pull-thrus, 20/30/50-amp service, and accepts big rigs. Oakland Valley Campground and KOA Holiday Deerpark New York City sit along rivers and offer pools, playgrounds, general stores, and family-oriented amenities, with the KOA pool open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Wawayanda State Park is the most rustic option in the cluster. The park offers four group campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, and a composting restroom, but water must be carried from the main office and there are no shower facilities. Cell coverage is generally workable along main routes but thins in the river valleys and on the ridges. Bears are present throughout the region, so food storage rules apply.
