Campgrounds near Hampton Manor
Hampton Manor is a small hamlet in Rensselaer County, New York, sitting just east of the Hudson River across from Albany. Its location in the Capital Region puts RV travelers within a short drive of both the Helderberg Escarpment to the west and the Taconic Valley to the east, giving campers access to two distinct landscapes from a single base.
Private options close to town include Alps Family Campground Inc, located on Route 43 between Averill Park and Stephentown, and Adventure Bound Deer Run, also marketed as Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Deer Run. Both cater to RVs and families with hookup sites and on-site amenities.
For state-park camping, Thompsons Lake - Thacher State Park sits along the Helderberg Escarpment southwest of Albany, and Cherry Plain State Park is nestled in the woods of the Taconic Valley, a quiet alternative to other parks in the region. Together these options cover full-hookup RV parks and more rustic lakeside state park sites, letting travelers match the trip to the vehicle.
Things to do near Hampton Manor
Thacher State Park offers miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails, dramatic overlooks along the Helderberg Escarpment, and a sandy beach with lifeguard-staffed swimming areas during the summer season at Thompson's Lake. The Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center runs interpretive programs suitable for kids.
Cherry Plain State Park centers on Black River Pond, a non-motorized water body used for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Anglers enjoy fishing for bass, bullheads, and pickerel here. The park also has bridle paths and hiking, biking, and nature trails that serve as cross-country ski trails in winter.
Downtown Albany, Troy, and the Hudson River waterfront are all within a short drive for museums, restaurants, and historic sites on rainy days.

We had a great experience renting from Krystal and her husband. They were responsive, helpful, and very accommodating from start to finish. The camper was a perfect solution for hosting our out-of-town guests and provided the extra space we needed. We would gladly rent from them again in the future.
