Campgrounds and RV parks near Hurley, NY

Hurley sits in Ulster County at the eastern edge of the Catskill Mountains, minutes from Kingston and the Ashokan Reservoir. The location puts RV travelers within easy reach of two distinct camping regions: the Catskill Forest Preserve to the west, and the Hudson River corridor to the east. Most campgrounds within an hour of Hurley operate on a seasonal schedule, roughly May through October, with a smaller number of private parks opening in April and closing in mid-October. Private parks in the area lean toward family-oriented amenities with full hookups, pools, and long pull-through sites. Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds Inc in nearby Saugerties is a representative example, offering tent sites, cabins, and full-hookup RV sites across a wooded property along Plattekill Creek. Smaller operations such as New Life Campground, Camp Goat Hill, and So-Hi Campgrounds round out the private options close to town. For state-run camping with river access, Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park sits across the Hudson near Staatsburg and is the closest New York State Parks campground to Hurley.

New York State Parks campgrounds, including Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park, are reserved through the ReserveAmerica system, either online or by phone at 1-800-456-2267. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival and can be booked up to nine months out. Walk-ins are permitted on campsites when space is available, but summer weekends should not be treated as walk-in trips. Private campgrounds around Hurley, including Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds Inc, New Life Campground, Camp Goat Hill, and So-Hi Campgrounds, are booked directly with each property by phone or on their websites. Full-hookup sites, pull-throughs sized for larger rigs, and cabins tend to sell out first for holiday weekends, so lock in dates as soon as the trip is confirmed.
