Campgrounds near Kaser, New York
Kaser sits in Rockland County within the Lower Hudson Valley, giving RV renters quick access to a mix of state park campgrounds in New York and New Jersey, plus private full-hookup RV parks. The closest public campground is Beaver Pond Campground, which adjoins the Lake Welch Recreation Area within Harriman State Park and is located just 25 miles north of the George Washington Bridge. It is the primary option for campers who want to stay inside a large state park while remaining close to New York City.
Across the state line, Wawayanda State Park is located in northern New Jersey in the state's Highlands region, spanning parts of Sussex and Passaic counties, with forested areas, lakes, and a section of the Appalachian Trail passing through it. Rustic tent camping is also available at Camp Wyanokie in West Milford, NJ, a 150-acre forest area with a 5-acre lake and miles of hiking trails, offering a covered pavilion and rustic campsites without running water, toilets, electricity, or WiFi.
For RV renters who need hookups, Black Bear Campground in Orange County offers full hook-up sites, 50-amp service, back-in and pull-thru sites, no tent camping, and operates year round. Farther south, Liberty Harbor RV Park serves travelers who want an urban base with Manhattan skyline access.
Things to do near Kaser
Hiking dominates the area. Harriman State Park has more than 200 miles of trails, 31 lakes, and multiple public swimming beaches, with activities that include swimming, fishing, paddling, and picnicking. Beaver Pond Campground puts campers within walking distance of Lake Welch beach, and Bear Mountain State Park is a short drive north.
On the New Jersey side, Wawayanda State Park has over 60 miles of well-marked trails in addition to a 19.6-mile section of the Appalachian Trail, with the AT restricted to hiking only. The varied terrain and mostly multiuse trails are also popular for mountain biking, and Wawayanda Lake offers fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating.
For a rustic day out, Camp Wyanokie offers fishing, birdwatching, and trail access into the adjacent Norvin Green State Forest. Warwick, NY and Vernon, NJ provide farm markets, orchards, and small-town restaurants within a short drive.

Camping seasons here split sharply. New Jersey state park campsites at Wawayanda are open April 1 to October 31, and swimming beaches at both New York and New Jersey parks generally run from around Memorial Day through Labor Day when lifeguards are on duty. Beaver Pond opens for the warm season, with swimming at the campground beach and Lake Welch permitted only when lifeguards are on duty.
Summer weekends are the busiest window. Harriman is roughly an hour from New York City, so weekend bookings should be made as far in advance as possible. Peak weekends draw large family groups and can feel crowded, while spring and fall trips tend to be quieter and more focused on hiking and foliage.
Winter narrows options significantly. Most state park campgrounds close, but Wawayanda receives significant snow accumulations and permits cross-country skiing on designated trails during the winter months. RV renters needing winter sites should focus on Black Bear Campground, which stays open year round with full hookups and heated water connections.

Here’s the updated version with the host included: RV Trip Review We just got back from our trip and had a great experience with this RV. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, and ran really well throughout the entire trip. It had plenty of space for the family and made traveling together easy and enjoyable. Everything worked as expected, and we felt comfortable and confident on the road. The host was also incredibly supportive, friendly, and easy to communicate with. They made the whole rental experience smooth and stress-free. It was a great RV for a family trip(5 people), and we would definitely rent from this host again!

How to book campgrounds near Kaser
New York state park sites at Beaver Pond are booked through ReserveAmerica. Camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance, with sites becoming available at the 9-month window at 8AM Monday through Friday and 9AM Saturday and Sunday during the March 15 to Labor Day period. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival, and reservations can be made online or through the ReserveAmerica Call Center.
New Jersey state park sites, including Wawayanda, are reserved through the state's online system at camping.nj.gov. Campsites can be booked online up to 11 months in advance.
Camp Wyanokie takes reservations through its website via the Campspot platform, and quiet hours run from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Black Bear Campground books through Campspot and by phone, so it is worth calling ahead to confirm site type and availability.
What to expect
Beaver Pond is a rustic state park campground rather than a resort. Beaver Pond offers campsites, some with a raised platform, for up to two tents and six persons per site; select sites can accommodate a trailer or RV up to 30 ft. long, with picnic tables, fire rings, and shared full-service bathrooms, but no electrical hookups for trailers. Comfort stations, showers, laundry facilities, and a dumping station are part of the campground. Alcohol is not permitted and no pets are permitted.
Wawayanda is more primitive. Water is not available at campsites and must be carried from the main office building, and there are no shower facilities. Camp Wyanokie is tent-only and cannot accommodate any RVs, trailers, or pop-ups.
Bears are active throughout the region. Bear activity is expected in the Beaver Pond area, and bear habitat guidelines are provided and must be followed at all times. Store food properly and expect standard quiet hours across all campgrounds.

You can book your Kaser RV trip with confidence because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy. There is a full money-back grace period right after booking, which gives you breathing room if plans shift, and additional refund tiers depending on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Kaser?
Absolutely, and you have lots of options. On RVezy, simply toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to see every pet-welcoming listing for your Kaser RV trip. Many Rockland County hosts welcome dogs at no extra charge, while others ask a small cleaning fee, usually $25 to $75. Once you have your pup loaded up, the area is a dream for four-legged travelers: leashed dogs are welcome on most trails in Harriman State Park (about 15 minutes west), at Rockland Lake State Park, and along the paved Joseph B. Clarke Rail Trail in nearby Sparkill. For a pet-friendly RV rental Kaser travelers love, message the host about bedding rules and bring a portable water bowl, Hudson Valley summers get warm fast.
parks.ny.gov/regulations/pets.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Kaser?
Yes, RV delivery is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer if you have never towed before or do not want to navigate Route 306 in a 30-foot rig. Many Rockland County hosts will deliver the RV directly to your driveway in Kaser, to Harriman State Park's Beaver Pond Campground, to Sebago Cabin Camp, or out to a Newburgh-area KOA site. Delivery fees usually run $2 to $4 per mile, and hosts handle leveling, hookups, and a full walkthrough on arrival. Use the Delivery filter when you search, then message the host with your destination address for a precise quote.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kaser%2C%20New%20YorkHow does mileage work, and how far can I drive on my Kaser RV trip?
Mileage on RVezy is flexible because hosts set their own daily allowance, commonly ranging from 100 to 200 miles, with options for RV rental with unlimited mileage on longer trips. From Kaser, that opens up a huge slice of the Northeast: Bear Mountain State Park is about 20 miles north, the Catskills' Hunter Mountain area is around 110 miles, Lake George is roughly 200 miles up I-87, and Acadia-bound travelers love the drive through New England. Before you book, check the listing's mileage policy and ask the host for an unlimited-mileage add-on if you are planning a true RV road trip from Kaser. Extra miles typically run $0.30 to $0.45 each.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kaser%2C%20New%20YorkWhere are the best campgrounds near Kaser to park my RV?
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Kaser. Harriman State Park's Beaver Pond Campground (about 18 miles west) offers wooded sites near hiking trails and lakes. Sebago Cabin Camp and Lake Welch within Harriman are also fantastic for shorter stays. Black Bear Campground in Florida, NY (about 25 miles northwest) has full hookups and is popular with first-timers. Croton Point Park across the Hudson in Westchester (about 22 miles east) gives you riverfront sites with electric and water. For a longer haul, the Newburgh-area KOA (around 45 miles north) has pools, mini-golf, and full hookups. Book Harriman sites through the New York State Parks reservation system as early as you can, summer weekends fill fast.
parks.ny.gov/parks/145/details.aspxWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Kaser?
The sweet spot for a Kaser RV trip is mid-May through mid-October, with two standout windows. Late May into June brings 70 to 80 degree days, blooming mountain laurel in Harriman State Park, and fewer crowds. Then mid-September through mid-October delivers world-class Hudson Valley fall foliage, especially along the Palisades Parkway and around Bear Mountain. July and August are warm and humid (highs in the mid-80s) and perfect for swimming at Lake Welch or Rockland Lake. Winters here can dip into the teens with snow, so most local campgrounds close from November through April, though some hosts still rent winterized rigs for ski trips to Hunter or Belleayre. Pro tip: book early-October weekends three months out, foliage demand is intense.
weather.gov/okx/I am first time renting an RV. How much support will I get?
First time renting an RV? You are in great hands. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through how to start the generator, dump tanks, level the RV, hook up shore power, and operate the awning, slides, and propane appliances. Most hosts in the Kaser area also share a written cheat sheet and stay reachable by text throughout your trip. If you want to skip city-style driving entirely, choose a delivery host who will set everything up at your campsite. RVezy's customer support is one tap away in the app, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking. Pro tip: schedule pickup for morning so you have daylight to practice before your first night.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat if something goes wrong on the road during my Kaser RV trip?
You will not be stranded. Every motorhome rental in Kaser booked on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing. One call connects you to a dispatcher who arranges service to your exact location, whether you are on the Palisades Interstate Parkway shoulder, deep inside Harriman State Park, or pulled off on Route 17 near Sloatsburg. The RVezy support team is also available through the app, so you can troubleshoot with a real person within minutes. Your host is typically the fastest resource for quirks specific to their RV. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone before pickup and snap a photo of the VIN, it speeds up dispatch.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Kaser RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is one of the best parts of an RV rental in Kaser. You sit at the doorstep of the Northeast: New Jersey is just a few miles south, Connecticut is about 45 miles east, Pennsylvania is around 50 miles west, and Massachusetts and Vermont are easy weekend hauls. Cross-border travel into Canada (for example, Montreal at roughly 360 miles or Niagara Falls, Ontario at about 425 miles) is allowed on many RVezy rentals, but you must confirm with the host before booking so they can confirm insurance coverage extends north. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: build at least one Hudson Valley wine country stop in Marlboro or New Paltz into your route.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas prices should I budget for?
Budgeting is straightforward once you know the numbers. Class C motorhomes around Kaser typically get 8 to 12 MPG, Class A coaches 6 to 10 MPG, campervans 16 to 20 MPG, and trucks pulling travel trailers 10 to 14 MPG. New York gasoline in the Rockland County area generally runs higher than the national average, and diesel a bit higher still. For a 300-mile weekend in a 25-foot Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Fill up just over the New Jersey line in Mahwah or Suffern where prices are often cheaper per gallon than in-state, and avoid topping off on the New York State Thruway service plazas where prices spike. GasBuddy is your best friend on this route.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Kaser?
Book early and you will land the best sites. New York State Park campgrounds (Harriman's Beaver Pond, Lake Welch, Sebago) open reservations 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day sell out within days of opening. Private parks like the Newburgh KOA accept bookings far in advance and fill quickly for July 4th and Columbus Day weekend (peak foliage). For a relaxed shoulder-season trip in late September or early October, 6 to 8 weeks ahead is usually enough. Midweek stays open up dramatically: even in August, you can often grab a Tuesday-to-Thursday Harriman site two weeks out. Pro tip: set a calendar alert for January when the New York State summer inventory drops.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Kaser for a larger RV?
Kaser sits in a sweet spot for RV driving: you are off the dense Manhattan grid but still about 35 miles from Midtown, with wide arterials like NY Route 306, Route 59, and the New York State Thruway (I-87) nearby. Critical heads-up: New York's parkways (Palisades Interstate Parkway, Saw Mill, Taconic, Bronx River, Hutchinson) ban commercial vehicles and have low stone-arch bridges, so motorhomes must use I-87, I-287, or US Route 9W instead. Plug your route into a trucker-friendly app like CoPilot or Trucker Path. Traffic peaks Friday afternoons heading north on the Thruway. Pro tip: head west on I-287 to I-87 north to skip the worst congestion when leaving Rockland County.
dot.ny.gov/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Kaser?
Campgrounds within an hour of Kaser run the spectrum, so you can match the experience to your comfort level. Harriman State Park's Beaver Pond Campground offers basic sites with potable water spigots, restrooms, and a dump station, but no individual hookups, so plan on using your RV's fresh tank and generator. Croton Point Park and the Newburgh KOA both have full hookup sites (water, electric 30/50-amp, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and dump stations. Black Bear Campground adds a pool and camp store. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before leaving Kaser, Harriman sites can be a long walk from the spigot.
parks.ny.gov/parks/145/details.aspxWhat will be inside the RV I rent in Kaser?
Most RVs available for campervan rental in Kaser come fully equipped and ready to roll. Expect a queen or king bed plus convertible dinette and sofa beds (sleeping 2 to 8), a kitchen with fridge/freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink, and basic cookware. Class C and Class A motorhomes include a wet bath with toilet, sink, and shower, plus seatbelted travel seats for everyone riding. Many hosts add a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, backup camera, outdoor awning, and onboard generator. Wi-Fi hotspots are sometimes available as an add-on, but cellular coverage is strong across Rockland County. Pro tip: ask hosts about included linens, kitchen kits, and camp chairs, many Kaser-area listings throw these in free and save you a packing headache.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kaser%2C%20New%20YorkWhat add-ons can I get, and how do pickup and dropoff work?
RVezy makes customizing your Kaser trip easy. Common add-ons hosts offer include generator hours ($3 to $5/hour beyond a daily allotment), linen and towel packages ($25 to $50), kitchen kits, outdoor grills, bike racks, kayak racks, and propane refills. Unlimited mileage and extra-mile packages are also bookable directly in the listing. Pickup typically happens at the host's home in Kaser, Monsey, Spring Valley, or a nearby Rockland County town, with a 30 to 60-minute walkthrough. Dropoff is at the same location with the RV cleaned and tanks emptied, or you can pay a dump-and-clean fee ($75 to $150) to skip that step. Pro tip: request afternoon pickup so the host has time to fully prep, and morning dropoff to avoid Friday traffic on the Thruway.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kaser%2C%20New%20YorkHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment for your RV rental in Kaser is handled entirely through the secure RVezy platform, so you never hand cash or a check to a host. You pay your trip total (nightly rate, fees, and any add-ons) with a credit or debit card at booking, and a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, separate from your booking payment. As long as you return the RV in the condition you got it with tanks handled per the agreement, the deposit is released. Keep all communication and payments inside the app so you stay protected. Pro tip: take dated photos and a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff for a frictionless deposit return.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best road trip destinations from Kaser?
An RV road trip from Kaser puts some of the Northeast's best landscapes within an easy drive. Bear Mountain and Harriman State Park are just 20 miles north for a one-night shakedown run. The Catskills (Phoenicia, Hunter, Woodstock) sit 80 to 110 miles northwest with waterfalls, tubing on the Esopus, and craft breweries. Lake George is about 200 miles up I-87 for swimming, paddling, and lakeside campgrounds. Cape Cod is roughly 280 miles east for a long weekend by the dunes, and Acadia National Park in Maine is a bucket-list 470-mile haul. Closer in, the Hudson Valley wine trail around New Paltz (50 miles) is perfect for a family RV trip Kaser parents will actually enjoy. Pro tip: leave Kaser by 7 AM Friday to beat Thruway traffic.
