Campgrounds and RV parks near Kerhonkson, NY

Kerhonkson sits in Ulster County on the western edge of the Hudson Valley, tucked between the Shawangunk Ridge and the Catskill foothills. The hamlet is a practical base for RV travelers heading to Minnewaska State Park Preserve, Mohonk Preserve, and the Rondout Creek corridor, with New York City roughly 90 minutes south via Route 209 and I-87. RV options run from full-service resorts to primitive state land. Rondout Valley RV Campground in nearby Accord is the largest full-hookup property in the area, with big-rig access off Route 209. So-Hi Campgrounds and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Lazy River add family-oriented sites within a short drive, while New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday sits about a half-hour southeast toward Stewart International Airport. For tent campers and small rigs, Peekamoose Valley - DEC offers primitive sites along the Rondout Creek inside the Sundown Wild Forest, a very different experience from the resort parks closer to town.

Private RV resorts in the area take direct reservations. Rondout Valley RV Campground books through its Thousand Trails site or by phone, with campsite check-in at 1 p.m. and a minimum check-in age of 21. So-Hi Campgrounds, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Lazy River, and New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday each maintain their own booking pages and typically require a deposit at reservation. State land in the Peekamoose Valley uses a different system. Camping permits for the Lower Field primitive sites, and day-use permits for the Blue Hole, are issued through Reserve America up to 14 days in advance. Same-day reservations for Lower Field are accepted until 5 p.m. on the day of arrival, but walk-ins and cancellations are not permitted, so plan ahead.
