Campgrounds and RV parks near North Hornell, NY

North Hornell sits in Steuben County in the Southern Tier of western New York, within driving distance of the Finger Lakes and the rolling hills of the Canisteo and Genesee river valleys. The area works well as an RV base: campgrounds cluster along the creeks and state routes that thread between Hornell, Arkport, Dansville, and Bath, and most are reachable in under an hour. Options range from privately run family campgrounds to a state park. Sun Valley Campsites in Arkport and Sugar Creek Glen Campground near Dansville offer full amenities on wooded acreage with on-site waterfalls, while Skybrook Campground and Lake Demmon Recreation Area draw RVers who want hookups and lake or ATV access. For a public-land option, Stony Brook State Park lies just north, about two miles south of Dansville in Steuben County on Route 36. The park is known for its rugged gorge, three waterfalls with plunge pools, and a stream-fed guarded swimming pool.

Stony Brook State Park uses the New York State Parks reservation system, powered by ReserveAmerica. Campsites and cabins may be booked up to nine months in advance with a one-night minimum stay. Bookings can be made online or by phone through the reservation call center, and some sites may be available at the campground on a first-come, first-served basis. Private campgrounds handle their own reservations. Sun Valley Campsites, Sugar Creek Glen Campground, Skybrook Campground, and Lake Demmon Recreation Area each book directly through their own website or by phone. Creekside and lakefront sites go fastest for holiday weekends, so booking several months out is recommended for summer stays.
