Campgrounds and RV parks near Salisbury Mills, NY

Salisbury Mills sits in Orange County in New York's Hudson Valley, roughly an hour north of New York City and minutes from Newburgh, West Point, and the Storm King art center. The hamlet works well as a base for RV travelers who want quick access to Hudson River towns, Appalachian Trail crossings, and the large state park network that fills the surrounding highlands. Campgrounds within an easy drive cover a wide range of styles. Beaver Pond Campground - Harriman State Park offers primitive state-park sites inside a large protected forest, while New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday and Black Bear Campground provide full-hookup RV sites geared to travelers using the area as a New York City staging point. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Lazy River in nearby Gardiner focuses on families with pools and structured activities, and Pelton Pond - Clarence Fahnestock State Park adds another state-park option across the river in Putnam County when open. Most commercial parks accept large rigs; state-park sites cap trailer length and typically lack hookups.

New York state-park campgrounds use ReserveAmerica. Camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance, with sites becoming available at the 9-month window at 8AM Monday through Friday and 9AM Saturday and Sunday between March 15 and Labor Day. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival for campsites only, walk-ins are permitted on campsites only, and reservations can also be made through the ReserveAmerica call center. Private parks book directly through their own sites or through Campspot and KOA.com. Peak weekends at family-oriented parks such as Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Lazy River and New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday often sell out weeks ahead, especially around holiday weekends and fall foliage. Confirm RV length limits before booking: Beaver Pond sites can accommodate a trailer or RV up to 30 ft long at select sites, while private parks in the area routinely accept larger rigs.
