Private campgrounds around Saugerties, including New Life Campground, Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds Inc, Blue Mountain Campground, Camp Goat Hill, and Brook-n-Wood Family Campground, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends and foliage weekends often sell out weeks in advance, so booking early is recommended. New York State Department of Environmental Conservation campgrounds in the Catskill Forest Preserve are reserved through the ReserveAmerica system, either online or by phone at 1-800-456-CAMP. Reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance, and popular waterfront sites go quickly when the window opens. Some older Catskill campgrounds have tight interior roads that limit access for larger motorhomes and travel trailers.
