Campgrounds and RV parks near Sloatsburg, NY

Sloatsburg sits at the western edge of Harriman State Park in the lower Hudson Valley, about 40 miles north of New York City. The village functions as a common staging point for RV travelers heading into the Ramapo Mountains, and Route 17 and the New York State Thruway put it within easy reach of parks in both New York and northern New Jersey. The closest developed campground is Beaver Pond Campground, which adjoins the Lake Welch Recreation Area within Harriman State Park, and it handles most bookings for the immediate area. Additional options within a short drive include Camp Wyanokie, Wawayanda State Park, Black Bear Campground, and Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm, spanning state-run rustic sites and privately operated RV parks with full hookups. Terrain is wooded and hilly, with lakes, granite ridges, and Appalachian Trail crossings throughout the region. Select sites at Beaver Pond can accommodate a trailer or RV up to 30 feet long, so drivers of larger rigs should confirm site length and access-road grades before booking.

Beaver Pond Campground reserves through New York State Parks on ReserveAmerica, and reservations can be made for today and up to 9 months in advance. Summer weekends routinely sell out within days of release. Wawayanda State Park books through the New Jersey State Parks reservation system at camping.nj.gov, and its group campsites require a minimum of seven persons. Private parks such as Black Bear Campground and Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, often with shorter lead times but stricter cancellation policies. Camp Wyanokie is group-oriented and requires advance permit arrangement. RV renters should confirm rig length, hookup type, and low-clearance routes before finalizing any booking, since several access roads in Harriman have height and weight restrictions.
