Camping near South Blooming Grove
South Blooming Grove sits in Orange County, New York, in the Hudson Valley about an hour north of New York City. The village borders Harriman State Park to the east and lies within driving distance of parkland in both New York and northern New Jersey, giving RV travelers a compact base with access to state-run and private campgrounds.
The closest public option is Beaver Pond Campground inside Harriman State Park, where select sites can accommodate a trailer or RV up to 30 feet long. For full-hookup RV camping, Black Bear Campground in Florida, New York operates year-round with full-service RV hookups and a pet-friendly setup, while the New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday in the Hudson Valley accommodates rigs up to 90 feet with seasonal pools.
Families often choose Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Lazy River for its water play features and family programming. Across the state line, Wawayanda State Park in New Jersey draws hikers, paddlers, swimmers, and anglers around Lake Wawayanda, with a section of the Appalachian Trail running through the park.
Things to do near South Blooming Grove
Harriman State Park anchors outdoor activity in the area. The park has more than 200 miles of trails ranging from easy to strenuous, 31 lakes, and options for swimming, fishing, paddling, boating, ice fishing, and ice skating. Lake Welch swimming beach is adjacent to Beaver Pond Campground, with access to nearby hiking trails and connections toward the Appalachian Trail.
West of the village, Wawayanda State Park offers a different mix. Forested hills surround Lake Wawayanda for canoeists and anglers, steep terrain challenges hikers, and more than sixty miles of marked trails run through the park. Landlocked salmon were introduced to Wawayanda Lake, one of a handful of New Jersey lakes with year-round habitat for cold-water fish such as trout and salmon.
Beyond the parks, families can reach West Point, Storm King, Hudson Valley wineries, and apple orchards within a short drive.

The Newburgh KOA's pool runs seasonally from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. For year-round RV travel, Black Bear operates in Orange County, about 60 miles from Times Square, and offers heated water hookups for winter stays.
Summer is the peak. Spring through early fall is the busiest window and the best time for paddling and swimming, and weekend bookings should be made as far in advance as possible given the proximity to New York City.
Fall brings foliage and lighter crowds through mid-October, though most state park sites close by the end of October. Winter camping in the region is largely limited to private year-round RV parks.

Here’s the updated version with the host included: RV Trip Review We just got back from our trip and had a great experience with this RV. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, and ran really well throughout the entire trip. It had plenty of space for the family and made traveling together easy and enjoyable. Everything worked as expected, and we felt comfortable and confident on the road. The host was also incredibly supportive, friendly, and easy to communicate with. They made the whole rental experience smooth and stress-free. It was a great RV for a family trip(5 people), and we would definitely rent from this host again!

How to book campgrounds near South Blooming Grove
New York state park sites, including Beaver Pond, are booked through the state's ReserveAmerica portal. Camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival, and walk-ins are permitted on campsites only.
New Jersey sites at Wawayanda are booked separately. Online reservations can be made at camping.nj.gov, and group sites require a minimum of seven persons.
Private parks use their own systems: the Newburgh KOA books through koa.com, Black Bear books through Campspot or direct by phone, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park: Lazy River books through the resort's own site.
What to expect on-site
Facilities vary sharply between public and private options. Beaver Pond sites accommodate up to two tents and six people, include a picnic table and fire ring with flip-top grill, and share full-service bathrooms with showers, laundry, and a dump station, but there are no electrical hookups. Pets are not permitted at Beaver Pond or Lake Welch, and only one vehicle is allowed per campsite.
At Wawayanda's group sites, water is not available at campsites and must be carried from the main office, and there are no shower facilities. Plan accordingly for water and hygiene.
Private parks offer the amenities families expect. Black Bear has 160 RV-only sites with 154 full hookups and no tent camping. The Newburgh KOA has two swimming pools, a climbing tower, basketball court, jumping pillow, mini golf, a fishing pond with rental boats, full-hookup RV sites, and a camp store.

Most local roads (Routes 208, 17M, and 32) are two-lane with gentle Hudson Valley terrain. The main highway, Route 17 (the Quickway), is well-maintained but watch for steep grades approaching the Catskills. Avoid the Palisades Interstate Parkway and Taconic State Parkway, both are commercial-vehicle restricted and most RVs aren't permitted. Stick to I-84, I-87 (NY State Thruway), and Route 17. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, especially near Goose Pond Mountain. Pro tip: snow tires or chains are smart from December through March if you're heading toward higher elevations.

orangetourism.org/things-to-do/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment on RVezy is straightforward and secure, everything runs through the platform with no cash exchanged with the host. You pay your rental total (nightly rate, fees, protection, taxes) at booking with a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) and released after your trip, assuming no damage or extra fees like cleaning, late return, or mileage overage. Avoid issues by doing a thorough walkaround photo or video at pickup and dropoff, dumping tanks before return, and refueling to the level shown at pickup. Pro tip: share these photos with your host as a friendly record, it protects everyone and helps your deposit return quickly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I take my RV rental into New York City for sightseeing?
Skip driving the RV into NYC, you'll be much happier. Many NYC parkways (Henry Hudson, Belt, FDR) restrict RVs and large vehicles, and Manhattan parking is nearly impossible. The smarter play from South Blooming Grove: park your rig at a nearby campground like Black Bear Campground, then take Metro-North from Salisbury Mills or Harriman station (about 15 minutes from town) directly into Penn Station or transfer to Grand Central in roughly 90 minutes. Pro tip: a Hudson Valley RV trip plus one NYC day-trip by train is the perfect mix of nature and city, with zero RV-in-Manhattan stress.
