Campgrounds near Warwick, New York
Warwick sits in Orange County's Black Dirt region of the Lower Hudson Valley, close to the New York and New Jersey state line. RV renters can reach a mix of private RV parks, New York state park campgrounds, and New Jersey state park sites within a short drive, with terrain ranging from farmland to forested Highlands ridges.
Black Bear Campground in nearby Florida, NY is the closest full-hookup RV option, a year-round park in Orange County about 60 miles from Times Square offering 50-amp full-hookup RV sites. To the south, Beaver Pond Campground - Harriman State Park adjoins the Lake Welch Recreation Area within Harriman State Park, a large state park not far from New York City. Across the border in New Jersey, Wawayanda State Park and Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm serve the Highlands corridor.
Camp Wyanokie rounds out the area with rustic tent-style camping in the Wyanokie Highlands. Together these options cover full-hookup RV travel, state park camping without hookups, and family-style RV resorts within roughly a 45-minute drive of Warwick.
Things to do near Warwick
The area is built around hiking, lake swimming, and farm-country day trips. Wawayanda State Park offers over 60 miles of hiking trails, including a 19.6-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail, plus boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing on Lake Wawayanda, with the option to hike up Wawayanda Mountain. Harriman State Park adds miles of blazed trails and lake beaches, and the Beaver Pond area includes comfort stations, showers, laundry facilities, a dumping station, and access to the Lake Welch swimming beach when lifeguards are on duty.
Families staying at Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm can add farm-animal visits and a short drive to Mountain Creek Waterpark in Vernon. In Warwick itself, orchards, wineries, and the seasonal Applefest draw crowds each fall, and the surrounding Black Dirt farms host pick-your-own produce through the harvest months.

Camping seasons around Warwick split cleanly between year-round private parks and April-to-October state park operations. Black Bear Campground stays open all year with 50-amp full-hookup RV sites, which makes it a rare shoulder-season and winter option in the region. Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm operates on a warm-season schedule, and the Wawayanda State Park campground is open from April 1 through October 31.
Summer is the peak booking window. Weekends at Harriman, Wawayanda, and Pleasant Acres fill weeks in advance, especially around holiday weekends and when Lake Welch and Lake Wawayanda beaches are staffed. Late June through August is also the warmest and wettest stretch, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms.
Fall brings cooler nights, apple and pumpkin season on Warwick's farms, and strong foliage color through October. Winter camping is limited to full-hookup private parks, since state park campgrounds are closed during that stretch, and the growing season typically runs from late April through mid October.

How to book campsites near Warwick
Reservation systems vary by campground type. New York state park sites, including Beaver Pond Campground - Harriman State Park, book through the state's ReserveAmerica portal; reservations can be made for the current day and up to 9 months in advance, same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival, bookings can be made online or through the ReserveAmerica Call Center at 1-800-456-2267, and walk-ins are permitted on campsites only.
New Jersey state park sites, including Wawayanda State Park, use the New Jersey State Park Service reservation system, and its group campsites require a minimum of 7 people per site. Private parks handle bookings directly: Black Bear Campground takes reservations by phone, and Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm books through the Sun Outdoors website. For summer weekends, reserve as early as the booking window opens.
What to expect
Sites vary widely by property. Black Bear Campground welcomes large RVs with full hookups and 20/30/50-amp service on back-in or pull-thru sites, with 154 full-hookup sites and no tent camping. Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm is an RV-focused resort geared to families.
State park sites are more rustic. Beaver Pond offers campsites, some with a raised platform, for up to two tents and six persons per site, with select sites accommodating a trailer or RV up to 30 ft long, each with a picnic table, fire ring with flip-top grill, and shared full-service bathrooms. There are no electrical hookups for trailers at this campground.
RV renters should also note a few restrictions at Beaver Pond: campsite occupancy is limited to six persons including children and infants, guests and visitors are not permitted, only registered campers are allowed in the campground, pets are not permitted in the campground or at Lake Welch, and only one vehicle is permitted per site. Wawayanda campsites are basic, with no shower facilities and water that must be carried from the main office.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Warwick, NY
How much does an RV rental in Warwick cost?
An RV rental in Warwick can fit just about any budget. On RVezy, motorhomes around Warwick average roughly $200 to $250 per night and towable trailers run closer to $125 to $175 per night, and many hosts offer weekly or monthly discounts. Travel trailers are usually the most affordable option, especially if you already have a tow vehicle or book delivery. To save more, travel mid-week, target the shoulder months of late April through May or September through October when Orange County crowds thin, and use the price filter to compare local hosts side by side. Pro tip: bundling weeknights with a weekend often unlocks the best per-night rate.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Warwick,%20New%20YorkDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Warwick?
Good news for anyone renting an RV for the first time: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Warwick. New York State does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for the personal-use motorhomes and travel trailers you will find on RVezy, including Class A, Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and fifth wheels. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified right through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit and you are set. Most guests are surprised how quickly the approval step takes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat kind of protection is included with my Warwick RV rental?
You are covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Warwick booked through RVezy automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are not piecing together coverage on your own. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV during your trip, giving you real financial peace of mind on the winding roads through the Hudson Valley and Sterling Forest. RVezy offers multiple protection tiers and you, not the host, choose the level that fits your trip during checkout. Pro tip: pick your protection tier early so you can budget your Warwick RV trip with no surprises at pickup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Warwick RV trip?
Booking is lower risk than you might think. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every RV rental in Warwick, which means consistent and predictable rules no matter which listing you choose. The cancellation policy is not displayed inside individual listings; instead, the full breakdown is shown during checkout and inside your RVezy account based on your booking timing. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds you or provides travel credit so your plans stay protected. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Warwick rigs and dates, knowing you have a clear path if plans need to shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Warwick RV rental?
Absolutely, your pup is welcome on plenty of trips. Finding a pet-friendly RV rental in Warwick is easy: toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see listings where hosts genuinely welcome dogs (some allow cats too). Warwick is a great dog destination, with leashed-pet trails at nearby Sterling Forest State Park, the Appalachian Trail crossings around Greenwood Lake, and the Heritage Trail rail-trail running through Orange County. Many local wineries, like Warwick Valley Winery and Applewood Winery, also have dog-friendly outdoor patios. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and to share your dog's size and breed so check-in is smooth from minute one.
parks.ny.gov/recreation/pets/Can the RV be delivered to my campground or property in Warwick?
Yes, and it is the easiest way to start your trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Warwick, meaning they will drive the motorhome or travel trailer to your campground, a friend's property, or a private farm stay in the Black Dirt Region, then level it, hook it up, and walk you through everything. This is perfect if it is your first time renting an RV or you would rather skip towing through Orange County backroads. Popular delivery drop-offs include Black Bear Campground in Florida NY, Oakland Valley Campground, and sites around Greenwood Lake. Pro tip: filter by Delivery on RVezy, then message hosts with your exact address so they can quote the delivery distance accurately.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038085714-Delivery-optionsHow does mileage work, and how far can I travel from Warwick?
You have real range to explore. Most Warwick hosts include a set number of free miles per night (often 100 to 150), with additional miles available at a per-mile rate listed on the listing, and some hosts offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage as an upgrade. From Warwick you can easily reach New York City in about 60 miles, the Delaware Water Gap in roughly 45 miles, the Catskills around Phoenicia in about 75 miles, Lake George in around 200 miles, and Niagara Falls at roughly 370 miles for a bigger loop. Pro tip: map your route before booking and add a 20 percent buffer for side trips, then choose the mileage package that matches, since pre-buying miles is almost always cheaper than paying overages.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Warwick,%20New%20YorkWhat are the best campgrounds near Warwick for RV camping?
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Warwick. Top picks include Black Bear Campground in nearby Florida NY (full hookups, pool, and just a short drive from Warwick village), Oakland Valley Campground in Cuddebackville with shaded sites along the Neversink River, Wawayanda State Park just over the New Jersey line with lakeside sites and miles of trails, and Beaver Pond Campground inside Harriman State Park for affordable state-park camping. For a more rustic Hudson Highlands feel, the Sebago Cabin Camp area is a great option, and Pine Cone Resort on Greenwood Lake is a local favorite for full hookups and a family vibe. Pro tip: state parks fill fast on summer weekends, so book at least four to six weeks ahead.
parks.ny.gov/camping/When is the best time of year for a Warwick RV trip?
Warwick shines three full seasons a year. Late May through mid-June brings 70 to 80 degree days, blooming farms, and Warwick Valley Winery in full swing. July and August are peak summer with highs in the mid-80s, perfect for swimming at Greenwood Lake and Wawayanda's beach. The true insider season is mid-September through late October: crisp 50 to 70 degree days, excellent foliage across the Hudson Highlands, and the popular Warwick Applefest in early October. Winters typically drop into the 20s and 30s with snow, and many campgrounds close mid-October through April, though a few full-hookup parks stay open year-round. Pro tip: book your fall rental by July, because leaf-peeper season here sells out fast.
weather.gov/okx/I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in the Warwick area?
You are going to do great. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, hookups, the awning, and the holding tanks before you turn the key. Warwick is one of the friendlier first-timer regions in the Northeast: County Route 94 and Route 17A are wide, well-paved country roads with manageable hills, and you can avoid heavy interstate driving entirely by sticking to Orange County backroads. If New York City driving makes you nervous, head west and north toward the Delaware Water Gap or Catskills instead. Pro tip: ask your host to send the RV's exact length and height in writing, then save those numbers in your phone for low bridges and parking lots.
dmv.ny.gov/driver-manuals/drivers-manualWhat if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You are never alone out there. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and tow service if something more serious happens on Route 17 or up in the Harriman State Park hills. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after your trip, and your host is just a message away inside the app for quick questions about the slide-out or water pump. Cell service is solid in Warwick village and along I-87, with a few dead zones in deeper Sterling Forest sections. Pro tip: screenshot the roadside number and your host's contact info before you leave the driveway, just in case.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat are the best road trip destinations from Warwick?
Warwick is one of the best launchpads in the Northeast for an RV road trip. Popular routes include the Catskills loop through Phoenicia and Woodstock (about 75 miles, 1.5 hours), the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area for river kayaking (about 45 miles, 1 hour), the Finger Lakes wine region around Seneca Lake (around 250 miles, 4.5 hours), Lake George and the southern Adirondacks (about 200 miles, 3.5 hours), and Cape Cod for a longer beach loop (about 280 miles, 5 hours). Cross-border travel into Canada is allowed by many hosts with prior approval, but travel into Mexico is not covered by RVezy protection. Pro tip: message the host directly to confirm out-of-state and Canadian travel before you book.
nps.gov/dewa/index.htmWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Easier to budget than most people expect. Class B campervans around Warwick get roughly 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, larger Class A rigs come in around 7 to 10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but typically knock 4 to 6 MPG off your truck's normal rate. New York gas prices tend to run above the national average, and you will find competitive pricing at the Stewart's and Sunoco stations along Route 17 and on Kings Highway in Warwick. Pro tip: fill up in Warwick or just over the NJ line in Vernon before heading deep into the Catskills, where stations are sparse and pricier.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Warwick?
The earlier the better, especially for the best sites. New York State Parks like Harriman (Beaver Pond) and nearby Wawayanda in NJ open bookings up to nine months in advance through ReserveAmerica, with summer weekends and fall foliage dates filling quickly after release. National Recreation Area sites in the Delaware Water Gap use Recreation.gov on a six-month rolling window. Private parks like Black Bear Campground typically book one to three months ahead for peak weekends. For a Warwick Applefest weekend in early October, lock in your campground by midsummer. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly nine months before your target date, log in right when reservations open, and you will have the best shot at prime lakeside sites.
recreation.gov/What are local driving conditions like around Warwick?
Warwick driving is refreshingly mellow once you know the rhythm. Most local roads, like Route 94, 17A over the mountain to Greenwood Lake, and Kings Highway, are paved two-lanes with rolling Orange County farmland views. Watch for the steep, twisty climb on 17A between Warwick and Greenwood Lake, deer at dawn and dusk, and seasonal black ice from November through March on shaded sections. The closest interstates are I-84 (about 15 miles north) and I-87, the New York State Thruway (about 20 miles east), both RV-friendly. Avoid taking a big Class A into NYC, since height-restricted parkways like the Palisades and Saw Mill do not allow RVs. Pro tip: stick to truck routes and use a trucker GPS app for peace of mind.
511ny.org/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Warwick?
You will find a great mix. Private parks like Black Bear Campground and Pine Cone Resort offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, pools, laundry, and camp stores. State parks like Harriman's Beaver Pond and Wawayanda typically provide non-hookup or water-only sites with clean restrooms, hot showers, and a central dump station. Potable water fills are usually near the entrance, and dump stations are clearly marked, sometimes with a small fee for non-campers. Cell signal is solid at most Orange County parks but spotty deep inside Sterling Forest or Harriman. Pro tip: top off fresh water and dump tanks before leaving the campground, since the nearest public dump along Route 17 is not always open off-season.
parks.ny.gov/parks/What is actually inside the RVs available in Warwick?
More comfort than you would guess. A typical motorhome rental in Warwick or travel trailer on RVezy comes with a queen or king bed, a full kitchen (fridge, stovetop, microwave, sink, cookware), a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (roof AC and propane furnace), a dinette, and seatbelted seats for travel. Many include a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, and a power awning, and some hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, onboard generators, solar packages, or backup cameras. Campervan rental options in Warwick (Class B) are nimble and great for couples, while Class C motorhomes comfortably sleep families of four to six. Pro tip: check the listing's bed configuration and seatbelt count carefully if you are traveling with kids in car seats, since not every dinette seatbelt fits one.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/child-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts make it easy to customize. Common Warwick add-ons include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits, outdoor camp chairs and tables, bikes, kayaks, generators, propane fills, and pet cleaning fees. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Warwick, Florida NY, Greenwood Lake, or surrounding Orange County towns, with delivery available from many hosts (often within a set radius, then a per-mile rate beyond that). Mileage policies vary by listing, with included nightly miles and per-mile overage clearly displayed before you book. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book if your dates are tight, then add Delivery, and you can have a fully-stocked RV waiting at your campground without ever swinging by the host's place.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038085714-Delivery-optionsHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Simple and transparent. When you book an RV rental in Warwick on RVezy, payment is handled securely through the platform, with no cash to the host and no off-platform transfers. You will see your nightly rate, mileage package, delivery, add-ons, protection plan, and taxes itemized before you confirm. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment, authorized on your card before the trip and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good condition. Pro tip: take time-stamped photos and a quick walkaround video at pickup and drop-off, send them in the RVezy message thread, and your deposit return will be quick and drama-free.
