Camping near Blossburg, Pennsylvania
Blossburg sits in Tioga County along U.S. Route 15 in the Pennsylvania Wilds region, within easy driving distance of the Pine Creek Gorge, better known as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. The area is surrounded by the 161,890-acre Tioga State Forest, which stretches across Bradford and Tioga counties and hosts the gorge along with clean, cool streams like Cedar Run and Babbs Creek.
RV travelers use Blossburg as a base for both public and private campgrounds. Tanglewood Camping and Twin Streams Campground sit in the quieter countryside outside town, while Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: PA Wilds occupies a wooded property closer to Mansfield with full-hookup RV sites. Sheshequin Camp Ground rounds out the private options in the surrounding hills.
For a state-park experience, Hills Creek State Park lies just north of U.S. 6 midway between Wellsboro and Mansfield, a short drive west of Blossburg. The 407-acre park centers on 137-acre Hills Creek Lake and offers 85 campsites plus modern cabins, cottages, and yurts.
Things to do near Blossburg
The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania is the headline attraction. The east rim is accessed from Leonard Harrison State Park with a visitor center and the most famous canyon views, and the west rim is reached via Colton Point State Park. The Pine Creek Rail Trail runs the length of the gorge and is a popular route for cycling, with 26 miles running through Tioga State Forest along Pine Creek.
At Hills Creek State Park, families fish, swim, and paddle on Hills Creek Lake, a warmwater fishery that holds largemouth and smallmouth bass, yellow perch, bluegill, crappie, walleye, and muskellunge. Boating is limited to electric motors only. A sand beach is open from late May through mid-September. Backpackers can pick up the West Rim Trail or the Mid State Trail, both of which run through Tioga State Forest.

Blossburg has a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. The campground season at Hills Creek State Park tent, trailer, and yurt sites runs roughly mid-April through mid-October, though its ten modern cabins are rentable year-round. Private parks such as Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park PA Wilds typically run a full event calendar from Memorial Day weekend through late October, with themed weekends throughout the season.
Spring brings the highest wildfire risk in Tioga State Forest. Campfires are prohibited from March 1 through May 25 without authorization from the District Forester, or whenever fire danger is rated high, very high, or extreme. Self-contained camp stoves are exempt.
Fall foliage across the Allegheny Plateau typically peaks in October and draws heavy weekend traffic to Wellsboro, the PA Grand Canyon overlooks, and the Pine Creek Rail Trail. Winter shifts activity to snowmobiling, ice fishing, sledding, and cross-country skiing, though state forest roads are not plowed.

We had an awesome experience renting Mikayla’s camper and would absolutely rent it again! From the first moment we spoke, to picking it up and dropping it off, everything was simple and stress-free. Hitching and unhitching were easy, and Mikayla had everything we needed for full hookups—sewer line, water hoses, water filter, and even a drill for the leveling jacks. What really impressed us was how well stocked the camper was. Plates, silverware, cooking supplies, sugar, cooking spray, beds with full linens, and towels—you could tell a lot of thought went into making sure guests had everything they needed. There was plenty of room for our family of four, and we had a fantastic camping trip. If you’re considering renting this camper, I highly recommend it!

How to book campgrounds near Blossburg
Pennsylvania state park sites, including Hills Creek State Park, are reserved through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests reservation website or by calling 888-PA-PARKS (888-727-2757), Monday through Saturday, 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Most sites can be reserved up to 11 months in advance, with new inventory released at noon Eastern Time. Weekly reservations are required for modern cabins during the summer peak season.
Glamping tents at Hills Creek State Park are managed separately by Timberline Glamping rather than the state reservation system. Tioga State Forest roadside and hike-in campsites also use the state reservation portal and require a permit, and camping is only allowed at designated sites. For private parks such as Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park PA Wilds, Tanglewood Camping, Sheshequin Camp Ground, and Twin Streams Campground, book direct through each operator's website.
What to expect on-site
Hills Creek State Park has 85 sites at the north end of the park, ranging from grassy open areas to sites shaded by large hemlocks, with many electric sites and some full-hookup sites offering sewer, water, and electricity. Modern restrooms, hot showers, and a sanitary dump station are available. Pets are allowed on all sites in Loops A and D and in Cabins 1, 2, and 3, but not in other overnight areas or on the beach.
Private parks near Blossburg lean family-focused, with playgrounds, swimming areas, and camp stores. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park PA Wilds adds themed weekends and activity programming during its operating season. Cell service is unpredictable across many Pennsylvania state parks and state forest campsites, so downloading a park map before arrival is recommended.

On RVezy, travel trailers in the Blossburg area typically range from about $90 to $160 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A rigs trend higher. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Blossburg,PennsylvaniaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Blossburg, Pennsylvania?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular Pennsylvania (or any US state) driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Blossburg. There is no special RV endorsement or commercial driver's license required for the Class A, Class C, campervan, or travel trailer rentals available on RVezy. All approved drivers must generally be at least 25 years old, and you'll verify your ID through the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring an International Driving Permit from your local auto association along with your home country license, and you're set to hit Route 15 north toward the Pennsylvania Wilds.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Blossburg protected if something goes wrong?
Peace of mind is built right in. Every motorhome rental in Blossburg booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you're covered for common issues, from a flat tire on Route 15 to accidental damage at the campground. RVezy offers multiple protection plan tiers, and you (not the host) choose the level of coverage that fits your trip during the booking process. Coverage details, limits, and deductibles are outlined clearly before you confirm. The result: you can focus on stargazing at Cherry Springs State Park instead of worrying about what-ifs.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Blossburg RV trip?
Plans change, and booking with RVezy is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. Beyond that, the refund amount depends on how far out from your trip start date you cancel, and special accommodations may apply for situations like natural disasters or severe weather, which can happen in the Tioga County mountains. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds the guest or provides travel credit. You'll see the exact terms before you confirm payment, then add Leonard Harrison State Park overlooks to your itinerary knowing you're covered if life happens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Blossburg RV rental?
Yes, your pup is welcome on plenty of trips. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental in Blossburg and the surrounding Tioga County area. Hosts set their own pet rules and may charge a small cleaning fee, which you'll see upfront on the listing. Once you arrive, your dog will love this region: leashed pets are welcome on the Pine Creek Rail Trail (62 miles of mostly flat, shaded gravel), the overlooks at Leonard Harrison and Colton Point State Parks, and most campsites at Hills Creek State Park. Pro tip: pack a long lead so your dog can lounge outside the RV at camp.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Pages/PetsInParks.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Blossburg?
Yes, and it's a game-changer for first-timers. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Blossburg and throughout the Pine Creek Gorge area, meaning your motorhome or travel trailer is brought directly to your campsite at Hills Creek State Park, Ives Run, Stony Fork Creek Campground, or even a private property. The host levels the rig, hooks up water and electric, and walks you through every system before they leave. Just use the Delivery filter on RVezy and enter your campground address to see hosts who serve that location. It's the easiest way to enjoy RV camping in Blossburg without ever towing or driving the rig yourself.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Blossburg,PennsylvaniaHow far can I drive my RV from Blossburg on a typical rental?
You can roam a lot farther than you'd think. Most Blossburg hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and many offer packages with unlimited mileage, perfect for an RV road trip from Blossburg through the Pennsylvania Wilds. To put that in perspective: Leonard Harrison State Park is just 18 miles away, Watkins Glen State Park (NY) is about 50 miles, Cherry Springs Dark Sky Park is 70 miles, Niagara Falls is around 180 miles, and Gettysburg sits roughly 200 miles south. If you're planning a bigger loop, message the host before booking to confirm an unlimited-mileage add-on. Extra miles typically cost $0.30 to $0.45 each if you go over.
visitpa.com/region/pa-wildsWhere are the best campgrounds near Blossburg, PA?
You're spoiled for choice in this corner of Tioga County. The top picks for RV camping Blossburg include Hills Creek State Park (12 miles north, lakefront sites with electric hookups), Leonard Harrison State Park (18 miles west, perched right on the rim of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon), Stony Fork Creek Campground (20 minutes away, full hookups and a creek-side feel), Ives Run Recreation Area on Tioga Lake (Army Corps campground with electric sites), and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park PA Wilds in Mansfield (family-friendly with a pool and activities). All accept RVs up to at least 35 feet, and several handle big rigs. Pro tip: Leonard Harrison's overlook sites are walk-to from the campground, not drive-to.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/LeonardHarrisonStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time of year for an RV rental in Blossburg, PA?
Late spring through mid-October is the sweet spot for a Blossburg RV trip. May and June bring blooming mountain laurel and daytime highs around 70 to 78 F, with cool nights perfect for campfires. July and August are the warmest (highs 80 to 85 F, lows in the 60s) and the busiest at Pine Creek Gorge. Mid-September through mid-October is the local insider favorite: peak fall foliage along the Pine Creek Rail Trail, daytime temps in the 60s, and far fewer crowds. Winters get genuinely cold here (lows in the teens, regular snow), so most state park campgrounds close from late October through mid-April. Book your fall foliage week by July, it goes fast.
weather.gov/bgm/I've never rented an RV before. How does it work?
First time renting an RV? You're going to be fine, and probably surprised by how smooth it is. When you arrive for pickup (or when your host delivers the RV to your Blossburg campsite), the host walks you through every system: water, propane, electric hookups, the awning, the slide-outs, the toilet and gray/black tanks. You can record the walkthrough on your phone for reference. You'll also have the host's direct phone number for questions during the trip, plus RVezy's 24/7 support. Most Blossburg-area hosts rent travel trailers under 30 feet or Class C motorhomes that drive like a big van. Pro tip: take your first drive on Route 15, a wide four-lane highway, before tackling smaller backroads.
fmcsa.dot.gov/safetyWhat happens if I break down during my Blossburg RV trip?
You're never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so a flat tire on Route 6, a dead battery at Colton Point, or a mechanical issue in the middle of the Tioga State Forest is a single phone call away from help. Your host is also reachable directly for quick questions, like resetting the GFCI or relighting the water heater. For non-emergencies, RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before pickup, and snap a photo of your RV's VIN and plate so you have them ready if you ever need to call.
penndot.pa.gov/Pages/default.aspxCan I take my Blossburg RV rental into Canada or other states?
Most likely yes for the US, and sometimes yes for Canada. Blossburg sits just 35 miles south of the New York state line, so popular cross-state trips like Watkins Glen, the Finger Lakes, and Niagara Falls are commonly allowed, just confirm with your host before booking. Travel into Canada (think Niagara-on-the-Lake or Toronto) is permitted by some hosts when their insurance allows it, so message the host directly through the listing to ask. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Popular routes from Blossburg: north to the Finger Lakes (90 minutes), west to Allegheny National Forest (3 hours), or east to the Poconos (3.5 hours).
cbp.gov/travelHow much should I budget for fuel on a Blossburg RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable, so let's make it predictable. Class C motorhomes around Blossburg average 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class A rigs 6 to 8 mpg, campervans 14 to 18 mpg, and your tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer typically gets 10 to 13 mpg. Gas prices in Tioga County usually run a few cents below the Pennsylvania state average, with stations in Mansfield and Wellsboro being the most convenient stops. For a typical 4-night loop covering 300 miles, budget roughly $120 to $180 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Mansfield on Route 15 before heading deep into the Pine Creek Gorge, where stations are sparse and pricier.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Blossburg?
For the most popular spots, the earlier the better. Pennsylvania State Parks (Leonard Harrison, Hills Creek, Colton Point) open reservations 11 months in advance through the official PA State Parks reservation system, and prime summer weekends and fall-foliage October dates fill within hours of opening. Army Corps sites at Ives Run on Tioga Lake book through Recreation.gov, typically up to 6 months out. Private parks like Stony Fork Creek and Jellystone PA Wilds take direct online reservations and usually have more flexibility, especially midweek. Pro tip: if you're chasing fall colors, lock in your campsite by mid-July, then book your RV rental in Blossburg right after.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/state-parks/camping.htmlWhat are the roads like for driving an RV around Blossburg?
Driving an RV around Blossburg is honestly pretty friendly compared to most of the Northeast. US Route 15 (now part of I-99) runs right through town as a wide, four-lane divided highway, perfect for getting comfortable behind the wheel of a motorhome. Route 6 west toward Wellsboro and Galeton is a scenic two-lane road with gentle grades. The one heads-up: the descent into the Pine Creek Gorge on Route 414 and some forest roads can be steep and winding, so take it slow in low gear. Winter brings snow and ice from late November through March, which is why most rentals operate April through October. Pro tip: avoid Colton Point Road in a big Class A; take the Route 6 approach instead.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Blossburg?
Tioga County campgrounds cover the full range, so you can pick what matches your style. Pennsylvania State Park campgrounds like Hills Creek and Leonard Harrison offer 30-amp electric hookups, potable water spigots, modern flush toilets, hot showers, and centralized dump stations (no individual sewer at most sites). Private parks like Stony Fork Creek and Jellystone PA Wilds add full hookups (water, electric, sewer at the site), Wi-Fi, laundry, pools, and camp stores. For dumping and filling water mid-trip, the Mansfield-area private parks offer day-use dump access for a small fee. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot fresh water hose and a 30-amp to 50-amp adapter just in case, even state park sites can have the spigot a stretch away.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/WhatToDo/Camping/Pages/default.aspxWhat's included inside a typical Blossburg RV rental?
More than you probably expect. A typical motorhome rental in Blossburg on RVezy comes with a real bed (queen or king in the main bedroom, plus convertible dinette and bunk options), a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, sink, and cookware, an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (roof AC and propane furnace), and 12V/110V outlets. Most rentals include a TV, and many offer a generator or solar for off-grid stays at Old Logger's Path or other dispersed sites. Seatbelts are provided for the number of guests the RV legally sleeps and travels. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps Count on RVezy to make sure everyone has a belted seat for the drive into the Pine Creek Gorge.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options do Blossburg hosts offer?
Blossburg hosts make life easy with a menu of helpful add-ons. Common extras include camping chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, generators, propane refills, bike racks (great for the Pine Creek Rail Trail), kayaks, and even Wi-Fi hotspots for stretches where cell service drops in the gorge. Mileage policies typically range from 100 free miles per night to unlimited mileage packages, and most hosts offer flat-rate generator hours. Pickup is usually mid-afternoon and dropoff late morning, but many hosts offer flexible windows or full RV delivery in Blossburg straight to your campsite. Pro tip: ask about a Starlink or hotspot add-on if you're working remotely from camp, the Tioga State Forest has signal dead zones.
fcc.gov/consumers/guides/cell-phone-coverage-areaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and fully online, with no cash or paperwork at pickup. When you book your RV rental in Pennsylvania, RVezy charges your credit or debit card for the rental total (nightly rate, fees, chosen protection plan, and any add-ons). A refundable security deposit, typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the rig, is placed as a hold on your card before your trip starts, not actually charged. As long as you return the RV clean, on time, with the agreed fuel and propane level, and without damage, the hold is released after dropoff. Pro tip: take dated photos and a quick video walk-around at both pickup and return so your deposit comes back quickly.
