Campgrounds and RV parks near Chase, PA

Frances Slocum State Park anchors the area with hiking and mountain biking trails, a swimming pool, and the 165-acre lake for boating and fishing. The park pool typically runs from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, and lake fishing turns up bass, panfish, and stocked trout in spring. Private campgrounds add family-focused programming. Moyers Grove Campground hosts a variety of seasonal events, including a chili cook-off, a Fourth of July celebration with fireworks, a Make-A-Wish carnival, and a Labor Day bash. On-site amenities at Moyers Grove include a solar-heated in-ground pool, catch-and-release fishing in ponds and a stream, mini golf, and games like basketball, beach volleyball, horseshoes, and shuffleboard. Day trips reach Ricketts Glen State Park waterfalls, the Lehigh Gorge, and downtown Wilkes-Barre.

The public camping season is short and clearly bounded. Frances Slocum State Park Campground runs from the second Friday in April through the third Sunday in October. The park itself is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset, so off-season day use for hiking, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing is still possible even when the campground is closed. Summer is the busy window. Weekends around Independence Day, mid-July, and Labor Day fill first, and holiday events at private parks drive most of the demand. Spring brings cool nights, mud on trails, and reliable trout fishing, with variable weather often lasting into May. Fall delivers strong foliage color from late September through mid-October, with cold overnight temperatures ramping up quickly after mid-October. Winter closes state-park camping and most private campgrounds in the area. RV travelers planning shoulder-season trips should confirm hookups, water availability, and gate hours directly with each campground before arrival.

Frances Slocum offers a 100-site campground with 85 tent or trailer sites (some ADA-accessible and some with electric hookups) plus 15 walk-in tent sites for added privacy. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, pets are permitted on designated sites, and flush toilets, showers, drinking water, a sanitary dump station, and a boat launch are on-site. Full sewer service at the individual site is limited, so plan dump-station stops. Private parks like Moyers Grove can accommodate trailers up to 40 feet and offer full-hookup sites with 20, 30, and 50 amp electric. Cell coverage in the area varies by carrier and is unpredictable in and around many Pennsylvania State Parks, so download maps and confirmations before arrival.
