Campgrounds near Mansfield, Pennsylvania
Mansfield sits in Tioga County in north-central Pennsylvania, along US Route 6 between Wellsboro and the New York border. The town is a practical base for RV trips into the Pennsylvania Wilds region and the Pine Creek Gorge area, often called the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. Campgrounds within a short drive range from full-service private resorts to a state park with electric sites and cabins.
Close-in private options include Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: PA Wilds, Tanglewood Camping, Sunflower Acres Family Campground, and Twin Streams Campground, which offer varying mixes of hookups, family amenities, and tent areas. For a state-park setting, the 407-acre Hills Creek State Park in Tioga County offers picnicking and hiking on five miles of trails and is open year round, with a lakeside campground west of Mansfield.
The mix works well for families renting an RV: private parks handle pools, playgrounds, and full hookups, while Hills Creek adds a swimming beach, lake fishing, and quieter forested sites.
Things to do near Mansfield
The main regional draw is Pine Creek Gorge, reachable by driving west from Mansfield to Leonard Harrison and Colton Point state parks. The Pine Creek Rail Trail runs along the gorge floor and is a popular flat cycling route for families. Hills Creek State Park is a short 20 minute drive from the PA Grand Canyon, so day trips from a Hills Creek base site are straightforward.
On the water, the 137-acre Hills Creek Lake anchors the park's recreation, with a guarded swimming beach in summer, warmwater fishing for bass and panfish, and only electric motors permitted, keeping the lake quiet for paddlers. Wellsboro, a short drive south, provides restaurants, groceries, and gas for resupply between longer excursions.

The main camping season in this part of Pennsylvania runs from mid-spring through mid-fall. Hills Creek State Park's overnight facilities are open mid-April to mid-October, and most private campgrounds around Mansfield follow a similar window. The state park campground runs from the second Friday in April through the third weekend in October, and sites fill quickly in peak season, so summer weekends and fall-foliage weekends should be booked well ahead.
Summer brings warm days, lake swimming, and the busiest weekends. Early fall delivers strong foliage color across the Tioga plateau and cooler nights that suit RV travel. Ten modern cabins at Hills Creek are open year round, and winter activities in the park include ice skating, ice fishing, sledding, and cross-country skiing, though RV sites are closed in winter.
Spring shoulder season can be wet, with muddy trails and cool nights, but crowds are light and reservations are easier to secure.

We had an awesome experience renting Mikayla’s camper and would absolutely rent it again! From the first moment we spoke, to picking it up and dropping it off, everything was simple and stress-free. Hitching and unhitching were easy, and Mikayla had everything we needed for full hookups—sewer line, water hoses, water filter, and even a drill for the leveling jacks. What really impressed us was how well stocked the camper was. Plates, silverware, cooking supplies, sugar, cooking spray, beds with full linens, and towels—you could tell a lot of thought went into making sure guests had everything they needed. There was plenty of room for our family of four, and we had a fantastic camping trip. If you’re considering renting this camper, I highly recommend it!

How to book campgrounds near Mansfield
State-park sites at Hills Creek are booked through the Pennsylvania DCNR reservation system. Reservations must be made 3 days ahead of arrival and can be made up to 11 months in advance, which matters for summer holidays and October foliage weekends. Reservations can be made online or by calling toll-free 888-PA-PARKS (888-727-2757), from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday to Saturday.
Private campgrounds near Mansfield, including Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: PA Wilds, Tanglewood Camping, Sunflower Acres Family Campground, and Twin Streams Campground, take bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. For holiday weekends, book several months out; midweek stays in shoulder season usually have same-week availability.
What to expect
Terrain around Mansfield is rolling wooded plateau at roughly 1,200 feet elevation, with narrow valleys and creek crossings on many secondary roads. RV drivers should plan routes on US 6 and PA 287 rather than tight forest roads, especially with larger rigs.
Hookup levels vary. Hills Creek offers non-electric tent sites through full-hookup RV pads accommodating rigs up to 63 feet, with modern restrooms, warm showers, a sanitary dump station, and drinking water centrally located. Private parks in the area generally offer 30/50-amp service, water, and sewer at most sites.
Cell service is unpredictable in and around many Pennsylvania State Parks, so downloading the park map before a visit is recommended. Wildlife is active throughout the region, and campers should secure coolers and food due to black bear activity.

Pro tip: message the host before booking with your planned route (say, Mansfield to Cherry Springs and back) so they can recommend the best mileage package for your itinerary.
visitpa.com/region/pennsylvania-wildsHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and fully handled through RVezy, no cash or checks change hands with the host. You pay your rental total securely online when you book using a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) and released after your trip ends, assuming the RV comes back in the same condition. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup with your host, take date-stamped photos and videos inside and out, and report anything unusual through the RVezy message thread. Pro tip: empty holding tanks at the Hills Creek or Leonard Harrison dump station before returning, dirty tanks are one of the most common deposit-deduction reasons.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Mansfield in winter or for cold-weather camping?
Yes, winter RV rental in Mansfield, PA is possible and can be magical for snowmobiling and stargazing at Cherry Springs (one of the darkest skies on the East Coast). Winter temperatures drop into the teens and single digits at night, so filter for RVs with heated holding tanks, a working furnace, and four-season insulation, then message the host to confirm cold-weather readiness. Most public campgrounds close from late October through mid-April, but some private parks and host driveways offer shore-power hookups year-round. Pro tip: pair a winter RV rental with a Cherry Springs astronomy night, just dress in layers and keep the furnace fueled.
