Campgrounds and RV parks near Toftrees, PA

Toftrees sits on the northwest edge of State College in Centre County, placing RV travelers within easy reach of Penn State University, the Nittany Valley, and the surrounding Appalachian ridges. The area functions as a practical hub for exploring central Pennsylvania: state parks, state forests, and private RV parks are all within roughly a half-hour to hour drive. Black Moshannon State Park lies about 20 miles west on PA 504 and is open year round, surrounded by the 43,000-acre Moshannon State Forest. Greenwood Furnace State Park sits roughly a half-hour south of State College off PA 305, adjacent to Rothrock State Forest. Closer in, the Bellefonte / State College KOA Holiday handles larger rigs and offers full hookups, and Gram and Paps Fort Bellefonte Campground provides a smaller private option north of town. Centre County Grange Fairgrounds in Centre Hall opens for camping around scheduled events, most notably the Grange Fair, and is not a year-round option. Campers looking for full hookups and family amenities typically choose the KOA; those looking for rustic state-park sites near lakes and trails choose Black Moshannon or Greenwood Furnace.

Pennsylvania state parks, including Black Moshannon and Greenwood Furnace, use a single reservation system operated through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests portal and by phone at 888-PA-PARKS. Sites can be booked up to 11 months in advance, with new inventory released at noon Eastern time, and reservations generally must be made at least 3 days ahead of arrival. Peak summer weekends and holidays fill early, so booking well in advance is recommended. Bellefonte / State College KOA Holiday takes reservations directly through the KOA website or by phone. Penn State football weekends, the Arts Festival, and graduation weekends often carry longer minimum stays and stricter cancellation policies. Centre County Grange Fairgrounds camping is tied to event schedules, so arrangements are made through the fair organization rather than a general reservation platform. Smaller private options such as Gram and Paps Fort Bellefonte Campground are typically booked directly by phone or through the operator's own site.
