Absolutely amazing experience! We had so much fun, and there was plenty of room for our group of 4 adults and 2 kids. Communication with the owner was excellent! They were very responsive and flexible with both pickup and drop-off. We’d definitely rent from them again if the opportunity comes up!

Heather P. - Nov 2025

Absolutely fantastic experience! Very easy to communicate and extremely accommodating. Will definitely be a first choice if I rent campers again.

The RV was as advertised everything works and didn’t get to meet Dan but his son Andrew explained everything.

Don D. - Jun 2026

Dan and his teardrop are amazing!!! First - Dan - great communication, explained all the parts and best uses for the trailer, as well as any possible issues. Had all possible connectors, made sure everything was working, and that we were comfortable before handing the trailer over. Extremely accommodating when we needed to make changes! Second - Trailer - is awesome! Best sleep we have had camping (and we are glampers!), the microwave came in so handy when cooking, electrical hook-ups and plugs made everything so convenient, and the ceramic heater available to plug in made it comfortable inside while it was in freezing temperatures outside! We look forward to renting again! Also, so lucky this trailer is towable by our Honda CR-V!

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near China Spring, TX

How much does it cost to rent an RV in China Spring, TX?

Renting an RV in China Spring is one of the most affordable ways to explore Central Texas, with travel trailers often starting around $80 to $125 per night and Class C motorhomes typically ranging from $175 to $275 per night. Hosts set their own rates, so you'll see a real mix of price points to fit any budget. To find a cheap RV rental in China Spring, look for weekday bookings, shoulder-season trips in March or November, and travel trailers (which run less than motorized rigs since you tow them with your own truck). Pro tip: hosts near Lake Waco and the I-35 corridor often discount stays of five nights or more, so a longer trip stretches your dollar further.

Do I need a special license to drive an RV rental in China Spring?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need for almost every RV rental in China Spring. Texas only requires a non-commercial Class A or Class B license for personal RVs with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) above 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of rentals on RVezy (Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and most fifth wheels) fall well under that. You also need to be 25 or older to book, and RVezy confirms your ID right inside the platform. Visiting from another state or country? Your home license is fully valid in Texas. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly the paperwork is done so they can hit the road toward Lake Waco.

What protection is included with my RVezy rental in China Spring?

Every RV rental in China Spring booked through RVezy automatically includes a protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can roll out toward the Brazos River feeling covered. The protection plan helps shield you from most accidental damage to the vehicle during your trip, which removes a huge worry for first-time renters. During checkout you choose your level of coverage (RVezy offers multiple renter protection tiers, not the host), letting you pick the peace of mind that matches your trip. Pro tip: if you are planning longer drives toward Austin or Dallas, the higher protection tier is popular for the extra confidence on Texas interstates.

What is the cancellation policy for an RV rental in China Spring?

Booking an RV trip from China Spring is genuinely low-risk because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy, and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book. After that window, refunds depend on how far out your trip start date is and special circumstances such as natural disasters, which matters in Central Texas where occasional severe weather can pop up in spring. You will see the full policy details during checkout and in your booking confirmation. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Lake Waco weekend dates with full confidence that you have flexibility if plans change.

Can I find a pet-friendly RV rental in China Spring?

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rentals in China Spring are easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see listings from hosts who happily welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) on board. Once you arrive, your pup has plenty of room to roam. Cameron Park in Waco has miles of dog-friendly trails along the Brazos River, and Airport Park at Lake Waco allows leashed pets at all campsites under U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rules. Lake Whitney State Park, about 40 minutes northwest, is another favorite for dog-loving campers. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and ask which local trails they recommend, they often know the best off-the-beaten-path spots.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in China Spring?

Yes, RV delivery in China Spring is one of the most popular options for first-time renters, and many hosts will drop the RV right at your campsite, driveway, or event location. They will set it up, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means you skip the stress of towing or maneuvering a big rig down FM 1637 (China Spring Highway). Popular delivery spots include Airport Park, Speegleville Park, Midway Park, and Camp Fimfo Waco. Pro tip: filter listings by Delivery on RVezy and message hosts with your destination, many offer delivery within 20 to 30 miles of China Spring.

How far can I drive on a China Spring RV trip?

Your China Spring RV trip can cover a huge swath of Texas without long, exhausting days behind the wheel. Austin is about 100 miles south on I-35 (around 1 hour 45 minutes), Dallas/Fort Worth sits 95 miles north (also under 2 hours), San Antonio is roughly 180 miles, and Houston is 185 miles east on TX-6 and I-45. For a true road trip, Big Bend National Park is about 8 hours west and absolutely worth the haul. Mileage policies vary by host, but many include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage. Pro tip: ask the host upfront if you want unlimited miles, plenty of China Spring hosts will accommodate longer routes.

Where are the best campgrounds near China Spring, TX?

The best campgrounds near China Spring sit right on Lake Waco, just minutes from the heart of town. Airport Park (managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) has 46 sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups, with 22 offering full sewer. Speegleville Park and Midway Park are also Corps-run lakefront favorites with great fishing and lake views. For resort-style RV camping in China Spring, Camp Fimfo Waco delivers full hookups, a pool, mini-golf, and is just 6 miles from Magnolia Market. Lake Whitney State Park (40 minutes away) is another stunner. Pro tip: Corps campgrounds limit stays to 14 days in any 30-day period, so plan multi-park itineraries for longer trips.

When is the best time to visit China Spring for an RV trip?

The sweet spot for RV camping in China Spring is mid-March through mid-May and again from mid-October through mid-November, when highs sit comfortably in the 70s and 80s with low humidity. According to the National Weather Service, July and August routinely push highs into the mid-90s with heat indexes well over 100°F, so summer trips revolve around early-morning lake time and a strong RV air conditioner. Winter is genuinely mild (January highs near 59°F), making it a fantastic shoulder-season option, especially for snowbirds. Pro tip: book a China Spring RV trip during the Waco Cultural Arts Fest in September or the Silobration at Magnolia in October to combine perfect weather with local fun.

I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay?

First time renting an RV in China Spring? You're going to be great. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup or delivery, showing you how to operate the generator, slide-outs, awning, water tanks, propane, and air conditioning. You can also message your host any time during the trip with questions. RVezy's 24/7 customer support and roadside assistance ride along too. If you're nervous about driving, choose a Class B campervan or a travel trailer that the host delivers and sets up at Airport Park or Camp Fimfo Waco. Pro tip: do a slow practice loop through the quiet roads near Lake Waco's Steinbeck Bend before heading onto I-35.

What happens if I have a problem on the road in Texas?

You're never alone on a China Spring RV trip. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so a flat tire on TX-6, a dead battery at Lake Whitney, or a tow situation on I-35 is handled with one phone call. RVezy's customer support team is also available around the clock for anything trip-related, and your host is a quick message away for vehicle-specific questions. Texas Department of Transportation also runs free roadside help statewide. Pro tip: save your host's number, RVezy support, and the Texas DOT 24-hour highway info line (dial 800-452-9292) in your phone before you pull out of the driveway.

Can I take my RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?

Cross-state travel is welcomed on most RV rentals in China Spring, so a road trip to New Mexico's Carlsbad Caverns, Oklahoma's Lake Murray, or Louisiana's Cajun country is totally on the table. Just message the host before booking to confirm your route, especially for trips longer than a week. Travel into Mexico, however, is not permitted on any RVezy rental because U.S. insurance and protection coverage doesn't extend across the border. Popular RV road trips from China Spring include the 1 hour 45 minute run to Austin, the 4-hour drive to Big Bend Country, and the 6-hour haul to the Gulf Coast at Mustang Island. Pro tip: tell your host your route upfront so mileage and any one-way logistics are smooth.

What kind of fuel mileage and budget should I expect?

Fuel is the biggest variable on any China Spring RV trip, so it helps to plan ahead. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A rigs come in around 6 to 10 MPG, and Class B campervans can hit 18 to 22 MPG. Gas in the Waco area typically runs a little below the national average thanks to Texas refineries, which keeps fuel budgets reasonable. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, you're looking at roughly $90 to $130 in gas. Pro tip: fill up at Buc-ee's in Waco (just off I-35 at Exit 335A) where prices are competitive and the snacks fuel the human passengers too.

How far ahead should I book a campground near China Spring?

For the best campsites near China Spring, book as early as you can. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department opens state park reservations exactly five months in advance at 8:00 AM Central, and Lake Whitney State Park weekend sites disappear fast in spring and fall. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds at Lake Waco (Airport Park, Midway, Speegleville) are bookable on Recreation.gov up to six months ahead and are especially competitive around Baylor home football games, the Silobration, and Memorial Day. Pro tip: set a reservation reminder on your calendar for 8:00 AM CT exactly 5 months before your target weekend, that's how Texas regulars consistently land their dream sites.

What are the driving conditions like around China Spring?

Driving an RV around China Spring is refreshingly stress-free compared to big-city Texas routes. China Spring Highway (FM 1637) is a wide rural road, and I-35 between Waco and Hillsboro is mostly flat, straight, and easy for first-time RVers. Watch for sudden spring thunderstorms (March through May), occasional flash flooding near the Bosque and Brazos rivers, and afternoon heat shimmer on summer interstates. The I-35 corridor around downtown Waco has had multi-year construction zones with narrowed lanes, so leave extra following distance. Pro tip: download the Texas DOT DriveTexas app for real-time road closures, then plan your departures before 7 AM or after 7 PM to skip the Baylor University traffic.
drivetexas.org/

What hookups and amenities should I expect at China Spring campgrounds?

Most campgrounds near China Spring offer excellent amenities for RV camping. Lake Waco Corps of Engineers parks (Airport Park, Midway, Speegleville) provide 30 and 50 amp electric, water hookups, with sewer hookups at many sites, plus dump stations, hot showers, and boat ramps. Camp Fimfo Waco delivers full hookups with cable TV and resort amenities like a pool and mini-golf. For dumping and filling water between stops, the Buc-ee's in Waco does not have an RV dump, but Speegleville Park and Camp Fimfo both offer dump access for a small fee even to non-campers. Pro tip: top off freshwater before leaving the host's place since some Corps sites are water-only at the site, not full hookup.

What features come with a typical motorhome rental in China Spring?

Motorhome rentals in China Spring come surprisingly well-equipped. Expect a queen or king bed, a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, roof-mounted air conditioning (essential for Texas summers), a furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most Class C and Class A rigs also include a TV, and many hosts offer Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor grills, and generators as add-ons. Travel trailers and fifth wheels offer the same comforts once parked. Pro tip: in Central Texas heat, confirm with your host that the AC has been recently serviced and ask about a second rooftop unit, larger rigs often have dual AC, which makes a real difference at Lake Waco in July.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=China%20Spring%2C%20Texas

What add-ons and pickup options are available with my rental?

China Spring hosts offer a great mix of add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include camping chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, outdoor grills, generators (handy for Lake Waco sites without electric), bike racks, and even kayaks or paddleboards for Brazos River days. Many hosts include delivery and setup within 20 to 30 miles for a flat fee, and unlimited mileage is sometimes offered for longer road trips toward Austin or Big Bend. Pickup is usually from the host's home or a meeting spot off I-35 or FM 1637. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a generator if you're heading to a Corps site without hookups, it turns a great trip into an effortless one.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Booking an RV rental in China Spring through RVezy is straightforward and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps your payment protected. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before the trip and released after the RV is returned in the same condition you got it. Deposit amounts vary based on the RV and your chosen protection level, and you will see the exact figure before you confirm. Pro tip: take dated photos and a quick walk-around video of the RV at both pickup and drop-off near China Spring, it is the easiest way to ensure your full deposit comes back fast.
