Campgrounds and RV parks near Dalhart, TX

Dalhart sits in the far northwest corner of the Texas Panhandle, where US-87, US-54, and US-385 cross near the Rita Blanca National Grassland. Dalhart is about 70 miles northwest of Amarillo and sits at the intersection of U.S. Highways 54, 87, and 385. The town works well as a base for RV travelers heading between Amarillo, Denver, and northern New Mexico, and most nearby campgrounds are laid out with pull-through sites for that road-trip traffic. Private RV parks in and around town cover the basics: full hookups, 30 and 50 amp electric, and gravel pads suited to big rigs. Star of Texas RV Park and Boys Ranch RV Park sit closest to Dalhart itself, while Wild Bills RV and Trailer Park handles longer stays. Walnut RV Park adds another in-town option for overnighters. For travelers on the historic Route 66 corridor south of Dalhart, Midpoint Campground in Adrian, Texas offers full hookup RV spaces at the midpoint of historic Route 66, the halfway point between Chicago and Los Angeles. Dispersed camping is also permitted on the Rita Blanca National Grassland north of town, though services there are minimal.

Most RV parks around Dalhart are small, privately owned operations that take reservations by phone. Star of Texas RV Park, Boys Ranch RV Park, Wild Bills RV and Trailer Park, and Walnut RV Park all fit that pattern, so calling ahead is the most reliable way to confirm a site, especially during summer road-trip season and rodeo weekends. Midpoint Campground in Adrian operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation needed, and payment is handled by drop envelope when the office is closed. For dispersed camping on the Rita Blanca National Grassland, no reservation or fee is required, but stay limits are typically 14 days in any one spot on federal land. Sites are self-select and have no hookups, so RVs should arrive fully provisioned with water and holding-tank capacity.
