Campgrounds and RV parks near Timberwood Park, TX

Timberwood Park sits in northern Bexar County, roughly a half-hour north of downtown San Antonio and squarely inside the Texas Hill Country. For RV travelers, the location works as a base camp: interstate access is close, but the limestone canyons, spring-fed rivers, and oak-cedar hills of the Guadalupe watershed start within a short drive. The closest options for hookups are small private parks such as Texas 281 RV Park and Wagon Wheel RV Park and Cabin Rental, which cater to travelers who want quick access to San Antonio attractions while staying outside the city. For a more traditional outdoor stay, Guadalupe River State Park sits a short drive from San Antonio and Austin and offers four miles of river frontage on the Guadalupe. Inside the state park, the two developed camping loops are Turkey Sink and Cedar Sage. Turkey Sink accommodates larger RVs, while Cedar Sage is geared toward smaller rigs and tents. Together, these properties give travelers a mix of private full-service parks and river-focused public camping without a long drive from Timberwood Park.

Guadalupe River State Park, including the Turkey Sink and Cedar Sage loops, is reserved through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reservation system online or by phone. The Texas State Parks booking window opens five months in advance on a rolling basis at 8:00 a.m. Central Time; peak-season weekends can be claimed the moment that window opens, so weekday stays are the best fallback when weekends are full. A daily entrance fee applies on top of camping, and a Texas State Park Pass provides free entry for the pass holder and guests at more than 80 state parks for one year, which pays off quickly on multi-park itineraries. Private parks such as Texas 281 RV Park and Wagon Wheel RV Park and Cabin Rental take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and they generally require a card on file to hold the site.
