John and Justyna were absolutely incredible hosts! We rented their R-Pod for our trip to Cavendish and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The R-Pod was spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable, and everything worked perfectly. We had a great sleep and it had everything we needed for the trip. From the moment we arrived, John was right there to help us get set up. Their property has tons of space, which made hooking up and backing the R-Pod in incredibly easy. John took the time to walk us through everything, explained exactly how everything worked, and made sure we were completely comfortable before heading out. Both John and Justyna were extremely accommodating and very responsive to messages. You can tell they genuinely care about making sure their guests have a great experience. We had an incredible time in Cavendish, and having such an easy, comfortable rental experience made the trip that much better. Honestly, John and Justyna are some of the best hosts you could ask for. Friendly, helpful, accommodating, and just genuinely great people. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to rent from them again. 10/10 experience — highly, highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Cornwall, PE
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Cornwall, PE?
Good news: an RV rental in Cornwall, PE is one of the most affordable ways to experience the Island. On RVezy, motorhomes near Cornwall average around $200 CAD per night while travel trailers typically run about $120 CAD per night, and most hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly and monthly bookings. Travelling in late May, June, or September is the smart-money move because Island weather is still beautiful but rates drop noticeably after Labour Day. Pro tip: bundle a delivered trailer parked at a campground like Cornwall/Charlottetown KOA with a weekly discount, and you will often beat the cost of a hotel in nearby Charlottetown.
tourismpei.com/where-stay-campingWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Cornwall, PE?
Great news: a regular Class 5 driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Prince Edward Island, with no special RV endorsement or commercial permit required for motorhomes and travel trailers. On RVezy, approved drivers are generally 25 or older and upload their ID through the platform, which handles verification for you. Visitors from the United States can drive on their valid state license, and international guests should pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from their local auto association before flying in. Most first-time renters are pleasantly surprised at how quick the booking approval is, so you can focus on planning your seafood stops instead.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Cornwall, PE protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Cornwall booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the Trans-Canada Highway with confidence. The protection plan covers damage to the RV during your trip and is included on every reservation, not an optional add-on. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, with higher tiers offering lower deductibles and broader coverage. This is especially reassuring for first-timers exploring narrow rural roads near North Rustico and Cavendish. Book knowing you, the RV, and your trip are covered from pickup to drop-off.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Cornwall RV trip plans change?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy, and every reservation includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates without worry. The amount refunded after that grace period depends on how far out you are from your trip start date. You will see the full cancellation details before you confirm payment. Pro tip: book your Cornwall RV rental early to secure the best motorhomes for July and August, knowing you have flexibility built in if life happens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Cornwall, PE?
Yes, four-legged co-pilots are very welcome on PEI. Many hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Cornwall, and you can filter listings on RVezy by 'Pet-Friendly' to see them instantly. Once you arrive, Holiday Haven Campground right in Cornwall has a fenced-in dog park and a red-sand beach where leashed dogs are welcome, and Prince Edward Island National Park allows leashed pets on most trails and on designated sections of Cavendish and Stanhope beaches. Bring vaccination records, a long leash, and a towel for sandy paws after every beach walk. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee so there are no surprises at pickup.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/pe/pei-ipe/visit/animaux-petsCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Cornwall, PE?
Yes, RV delivery in Cornwall is one of the most popular options on the Island, especially for travellers flying into Charlottetown Airport (YYG), just 15 minutes away. Many local hosts will tow or drive the rig straight to Cornwall/Charlottetown KOA, Holiday Haven Campground, Cavendish Campground, or even a private cottage driveway, level it, hook up the utilities, and walk you through every system. This is ideal if it is your first time renting an RV or if you would rather skip the tow vehicle entirely. Filter listings by 'Delivery' on RVezy, enter your campground address, and you'll see exact delivery fees up front. Then all you do is unpack and start exploring.
tourismpei.com/where-stay-campingHow much mileage do I really need for an RV trip from Cornwall, PE?
You will likely need less mileage than you think. Cornwall sits in the geographic heart of PEI, so a full loop around the Island is only about 275 km, and most popular spots are under an hour away: Cavendish is roughly 35 km, Summerside about 60 km, Souris around 100 km, and the Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick is just 50 km west. Many Cornwall hosts include generous daily mileage allotments, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for slow island exploration. Always check the listing's mileage policy before booking. Pro tip: average 100 to 150 km per day and you will have time to stop at every lighthouse and lobster shack along the way.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Cornwall%2C%20Prince%20Edward%20IslandWhere are the best campgrounds near Cornwall, PE?
You are spoiled for choice. Right in town, Cornwall/Charlottetown KOA at 208 Ferry Road offers full-hookup sites, a heated pool, and Wi-Fi just 10 minutes from downtown Charlottetown. Holiday Haven Campground (same address) sits on the West River with a waterfront beach and dog park. A short drive away you have Cavendish Campground inside Prince Edward Island National Park with over 200 sites near the famous beach, Stanhope Campground for a quieter national park experience, and Cornwall Mini Mart & Campground for budget RV camping near Cornwall. Pro tip: PEI Provincial Parks open 2026 reservations on April 15 at 9 a.m. AST, and Parks Canada sites at Cavendish and Stanhope book up fast for July, so set a calendar reminder.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/pe/pei-ipe/activ/campingWhen is the best time of year for an RV road trip from Cornwall, PE?
The sweet spot is mid-June through late September, when daytime highs sit around 20 to 24 C (68 to 75 F), the ocean warms to a swimmable 19 C (66 F) by early August, and every lobster shack, lighthouse, and ceilidh hall is open. July and August are peak season for festivals like Cavendish Beach Music Festival, while late May, early June, and September deliver fewer crowds, cheaper rates, and gorgeous fall colours along the Points East Coastal Drive. Winters are genuinely cold (often below -10 C at night) and most campgrounds close after Thanksgiving, but a handful of hosts rent winterized units for cozy off-season adventures. Book your peak-summer dates early and the Island is yours.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/results_1991_2020_e.html?searchType=stnProv&lstProvince=PEI have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Cornwall, PE?
You will do great, and PEI is genuinely one of the friendliest places in Canada for a first time renting an RV. Roads are well maintained, traffic is light outside of rush hour in Charlottetown, and there are very few steep hills or tight mountain passes anywhere on the Island. Every RVezy host gives a full walkthrough at pickup covering the propane, slide-outs, dump valves, and driving tips, and you can message them through the trip with questions. Start with a relaxed drive from Cornwall along Route 19 to Argyle Shore for ocean views, then build confidence before tackling the Confederation Bridge. Many guests tell us they felt like pros by day two.
princeedwardisland.ca/en/information/transportation-and-infrastructure/road-safetyWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue during my Cornwall RV trip?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Cornwall, PE booked through RVezy comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included in the renter protection plan, covering things like flat tires, battery boosts, lockouts, and towing. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after every trip, and your host is just a message away through the app. Save the roadside number to your phone before you leave the driveway. Pro tip: cell coverage is solid across most of the Island but can dip near remote coastal stretches like East Point, so screenshot key numbers and your campground confirmations ahead of time and breathe easy.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Cornwall RV rental to New Brunswick or Nova Scotia?
Yes, your PEI RV trip does not have to end at the shoreline. Most Cornwall hosts allow travel across the Confederation Bridge into New Brunswick and onto the Wood Islands ferry to Nova Scotia, since RVezy insurance coverage is valid throughout Canada and the continental United States. Popular RV road trips from Cornwall include Hopewell Rocks (about 220 km), Halifax (around 330 km), and the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton (roughly 500 km). Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Confirm your planned route with the host before booking so they can verify mileage and any ferry size limits.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Cornwall, PE RV trip?
Fuel is refreshingly manageable on PEI thanks to the Island's small size. Most Class C motorhomes get around 14 to 18 L/100 km (about 15 to 20 mpg), and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. PEI regulates gas prices weekly through the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission, so prices are predictable and posted online every Friday. For a typical 4 to 5 day loop covering Cornwall to Cavendish, Souris, and back (roughly 400 km), expect to spend about $80 to $130 CAD on fuel. Fill up in Cornwall, Charlottetown, or Summerside where prices are usually best, and you will have more money left for fresh oysters at Carr's in Stanley Bridge.
irac.pe.ca/petroleum/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Cornwall, PE?
For July and August, book as early as you can. PEI Provincial Parks open 2026 reservations on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 9 a.m. AST through peiprovincialparks.ca, and Parks Canada sites at Cavendish and Stanhope (Prince Edward Island National Park) typically open in January through the Parks Canada Reservation Service at 1-877-RESERVE. Private parks like Cornwall/Charlottetown KOA and Holiday Haven take reservations year-round and fill up for long weekends and the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. Pro tip: if your dream site is sold out, set a free cancellation alert through Campnab, since cancellations happen regularly two to four weeks before peak dates.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/pe/pei-ipe/activ/campingWhat are driving conditions like around Cornwall, PE?
Driving on PEI is famously relaxed, which is a big reason it is such a good first-timer destination. Most roads near Cornwall are paved, gently rolling, and well signed, with rural speed limits around 80 km/h and 50 km/h through villages. The Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1) runs right through Cornwall and connects you to the Confederation Bridge in about 35 minutes. Watch for slow-moving farm tractors during planting and harvest, narrow shoulders on coastal routes like Route 19, and red dirt that can stain after rain. The Confederation Bridge has wind restrictions for high-profile vehicles, so check the live bridge status before crossing. Take it slow, wave at locals, and enjoy the view.
princeedwardisland.ca/en/feature/road-safetyWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Cornwall, PE?
PEI campgrounds are well equipped for RV camping in Cornwall and beyond. Cornwall/Charlottetown KOA and Holiday Haven offer full hookups (water, electric, sewer), free Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, dump stations, and potable water fills. Provincial parks like Brudenell River and Linkletter provide 2-way and 3-way serviced sites, kitchen shelters, and playgrounds. Prince Edward Island National Park's Cavendish and Stanhope campgrounds offer serviced and unserviced sites, accessible facilities, and interpretive programs. Most parks have well-marked dump stations, and Holiday Haven's is open to non-guests for a small fee. Pro tip: firewood cannot be brought into PEI National Park to prevent invasive species, so buy bundles on site for your campfire.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/pe/pei-ipe/activ/camping/cavendishWhat features and amenities do RV rentals near Cornwall, PE typically include?
Expect a fully equipped home on wheels. Most motorhome rental Cornwall listings on RVezy include a queen or king bed plus bunks or convertible dinettes, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and cookware, a bathroom with shower and toilet, propane furnace, air conditioning, awning, and outdoor chairs. Many hosts add Bluetooth stereos, smart TVs, and roof-mounted solar; some campervan rental Cornwall options include compact yet clever layouts perfect for couples. Always check the listing for seatbelt count to match your group size. Pro tip: bring your own linens unless the host includes a linen package, and ask about a starter kit with coffee, dish soap, and toilet paper to save a stop at the Sobeys on Capital Drive.
tourismpei.com/where-stay-campingWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for a Cornwall RV rental?
Hosts in Cornwall offer a great mix of optional add-ons to customize your trip: bedding and towel packages, camp chairs and tables, BBQs, generators, bike racks, kayak racks, pet packages, and even pre-stocked kitchen kits. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Cornwall, but as mentioned, delivery to Charlottetown Airport (YYG, just 9 km away), Cavendish, or your campground is widely available for a flat fee. Mileage policies vary by listing, with many including 100 to 200 km per day and some offering unlimited mileage for Island loops. Pro tip: skip towing a generator if you are staying at serviced campgrounds, and put that budget toward a delivered setup so your trip starts the moment you arrive.
tourismpei.com/where-stay-campingHow do payment and the security deposit work for my RV rental in Cornwall, PE?
Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform, with no cash or e-transfers paid directly to the host. You pay your trip total at the time of booking using a credit card, and the host releases the keys at pickup once everything checks out. A refundable security deposit, set by the host and shown on the listing, is held on your card separately from the booking payment and released after drop-off, assuming the RV comes back in the same condition it left. To avoid any deposit issues, do the walkthrough carefully, take photos at pickup and return, refill propane and fuel as agreed, and empty the tanks at the campground dump station before returning.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksAre winterized RV rentals available in Cornwall, PE for cold-weather trips?
Yes, a small but enthusiastic group of Cornwall hosts offer winterized RVs with heated holding tanks, extra insulation, and propane furnaces rated for sub-zero nights, which is perfect if you want to chase the Island's quiet off-season magic. Winters in Cornwall are genuinely cold, with February averages around -2 C in the day and -10 C overnight, plus occasional snow squalls, so plan on staying at a campground with shore power and water hookups or be ready to rely on tanks and propane. Pro tip: combine a winterized rental with a visit to Charlottetown's Christmas events or a snowshoe outing on the Confederation Trail for an unforgettable Island RV trip you will have almost to yourself.
