2019 Coachmen Class A
We had a wonderful experience renting from David and Anna. They are such a lovely couple — kind, patient, cheerful, and very easy to communicate with from start to finish. The RV was excellent and had almost everything we needed for a comfortable family trip. The basics were all well provided, and many of the items included were great quality, which made a big difference for us. The RV was spacious, well equipped, and helped our whole family enjoy a memorable weekend together. David was especially patient and encouraging during the walkthrough and answered every question I had. As a first-time/less-experienced RV user, that gave me a lot of confidence. I also really appreciated his attitude of encouraging us to relax and enjoy the moment. We were blessed with good weather, easy traffic, a beautiful campsite, and a great RV that allowed our entire family to spend quality time together. Our only regret is that we didn’t rent it for more nights! After all the effort of loading, setting up, unloading, and settling in, we realized this kind of RV trip would be even better for 5 nights or more. We are very thankful for the experience and would happily rent from David and Anna again. We can’t wait to do another RV trip like this — hopefully for a longer stay next time!

Our week away in Jessica’s travel trailer was great! The trailer is well equipped with everything you will need to get off the grid, rest and revitalize! The kitchen has the necessary items for meals, the beds were comfy, the trailer was clean, easy to tow, and hooking up at the campground was a breeze. Communication was great! Jessica and James are great hosts and a pair of the nicest people you will meet. We look forward to renting from them again! We were Happy Campers!

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Snowflake, AZ?

Great news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Snowflake, AZ. Arizona does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for recreational vehicles under 26,001 pounds, which covers virtually every motorhome and travel trailer on the RVezy platform. You will need to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? When is the best time of year to visit Snowflake, AZ in an RV?

Here's a Snowflake secret: this is true high-desert country at 5,600 feet, so the climate has four real seasons. The sweet spots are April through May and September through October, when daytime highs sit in the 60s to mid-70s and nights are crisp and cool. Summer (June through August) brings warm 85 to 90 degree days, perfect for escaping Phoenix's 110 degree heat, plus afternoon monsoon thunderstorms in July and August. Winters are genuinely cold with January lows near 28 degrees and occasional snow, which is exactly how the town got its name. For a classic Snowflake RV trip with golden aspens and elk-bugling evenings, late September into early October is hard to beat.

Can I rent an RV in Snowflake in the winter?

Yes, and winter in Snowflake is an underrated adventure. Many RVezy hosts in northeastern Arizona keep their rigs available year-round, and listings designed for cold weather often include heated holding tanks, a propane furnace, and shore-power hookups so you stay toasty even when January nights drop to the 20s. Sunrise Park Resort, about an hour southeast, offers downhill skiing and snowboarding through March. Filter for RVs with a furnace and ask the host about freeze-prevention before pickup. Pro tip: plan to stay at campgrounds with electric hookups like Fool Hollow Lake (open year-round) so you can run the heater all night without draining the battery.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I figure it out?

You'll be comfortable by lunchtime. First time renting an RV is genuinely easier than people expect, especially on RVezy where every host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup. Your host will walk you through starting the generator, dumping tanks, leveling the rig, lighting the stove, hooking up at a campground, and packing up to leave. They'll share their phone number and most are happy to answer texts mid-trip. For your first Snowflake RV trip, consider a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer, they're easier to drive on Highway 77 and the winding roads near Show Low. RVezy customer support is also available if you need extra help.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?

You're never stranded. Every RV rental in Snowflake AZ on RVezy comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included in the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 180 or a dead battery at Petrified Forest is just one phone call away from being solved. Roadside help can dispatch a tow, jump-start, tire change, or fuel delivery wherever you are in northern Arizona. Your host is also a great first call for vehicle-specific questions, like where the spare is stored or how to reset the inverter. Save the roadside number to your phone before you leave the driveway, and you can relax knowing the high country has your back.

Can I take my Snowflake RV rental across state lines or to Mexico?

Cross-state road trips are absolutely on the table. From Snowflake you're under an hour from New Mexico and within easy reach of Utah's national parks, and most RVezy hosts welcome interstate travel within the United States, just confirm with your host when you book. Heading to Canada is sometimes possible depending on the host and insurance terms, so message the host directly to discuss. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend across that border. Popular cross-state RV road trips from Snowflake include Gallup and Albuquerque (3 to 4 hours east), Monument Valley (3 hours north), and Moab, Utah (5 hours northeast). Confirm your route with your host before departure.

What should I budget for fuel on a Snowflake RV trip?

Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, so here's how to plan smart. Arizona's average gas price typically runs in the mid-$3 to mid-$4 per gallon range, and rural northeastern Arizona stations tend to run slightly higher than Phoenix metro pumps. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, travel trailers depend on the tow vehicle (typically 10 to 14 mpg), and campervans can stretch to 18 to 20 mpg. For a 500-mile loop from Snowflake through the Petrified Forest and back via Sedona, budget roughly $175 to $275 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Show Low or Holbrook where prices are usually lower than at remote stations on Highway 191.

How far in advance should I book my campground near Snowflake?

Earlier is better, especially for the gems. Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area accepts reservations up to six months in advance through the Arizona State Parks reservation system at azstateparks.com or by calling 1-877-MY-PARKS (697-2757), and summer weekends often sell out the day they open. There's a two-night minimum on weekends from April 1 through October 30. Homolovi State Park books through the same system. For private parks like Holbrook/Petrified Forest KOA or Putters Paradise RV Park, three to four weeks ahead is usually plenty. Pro tip: if your dream lakefront site is taken, set a cancellation alert, sites at Fool Hollow open up almost daily as plans change.

What are the roads like for driving an RV around Snowflake?

Driving is refreshingly easy here. Snowflake sits along Highway 77 with wide, well-maintained two-lane roads and very little traffic compared to Phoenix or Flagstaff. The main routes to Petrified Forest (US-180 and I-40) and to Show Low (Highway 77) are flat to gently rolling, no white-knuckle mountain passes. Watch for free-range cattle on rural roads, especially at dawn and dusk, and slow down in summer monsoon downpours when flash flooding can hit washes quickly. Winter drivers should pack chains if heading toward Sunrise Park or higher elevations near Greer. Pro tip: fuel up before sunset because some smaller-town stations close early, and cell service can be spotty between towns.
az511.gov/

What amenities do campgrounds near Snowflake offer?

You'll find a great mix of options. Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area has full and partial hookups (water, electric, sewer at many sites), clean hot showers, flush restrooms, a dump station (registered campers free, non-campers $20), and potable water fill stations. Homolovi State Park offers electric and water hookups with a dump station. Private parks like Holbrook KOA and Putters Paradise RV Park provide full hookups, laundry, Wi-Fi, and showers. For boondocking on Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest land south of town, expect no services, bring your own water and plan to dump at Fool Hollow on the way back. Pro tip: top off fresh water in Show Low before heading into the national forest, fill stations get sparse fast.

What's inside the RVs available for rent in Snowflake?

Today's RVs are basically cabins on wheels. A typical RVezy listing in the Snowflake area includes a queen or king bed, a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave, propane stove, and oven, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate-controlled heat and air conditioning, and seatbelted seating for everyone on board. Most rigs also have a TV, awning, outdoor speakers, and a generator for boondocking. Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include a mobile hotspot, others rely on campground Wi-Fi (which can be patchy in the White Mountains). Each listing page on RVezy shows exact amenities, sleep count, and bed configurations. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count to make sure everyone has a real bed, not a converted dinette.
fs.usda.gov/r03/apache-sitgreaves

What add-ons can I get for my Snowflake RV rental?

Plenty, and they make life easier. Many RVezy hosts in Snowflake offer add-ons like camping chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits with cookware, bikes, kayaks (handy for Fool Hollow Lake), generators, propane tank top-offs, and pet-friendly bedding. Delivery and setup is a popular add-on, the host brings the rig to your campsite and connects everything. Pickup is typically at the host's home address in Snowflake, Show Low, or Taylor, with a walkthrough included. Mileage policies vary by host, with daily allowances commonly between 100 and 200 miles and overage fees in the $0.30 to $0.50 range. Read the listing's add-ons section, then message the host to customize your package.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us

How does payment and the security deposit work?

It's all handled securely through RVezy. When you book, you pay the trip total and any optional add-ons directly through the platform with a credit card; no cash, no awkward payment apps with the host. A refundable security deposit is held by RVezy, not the host, typically shortly before your trip and released after a successful return with no damage or excessive cleaning needed. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup, take date-stamped photos and video of any existing scratches or interior wear, return the RV with the fuel and propane at the agreed level, and dump the tanks if your host requires it. Pro tip: confirm the cleaning fee policy up front so you know what's expected at drop-off.
