As a first-time RV camper, I had a lot of questions, and Peter was the only host who took the time to answer all of them which made booking easy. We stayed at Morro Dunes RV Park, and the RV was just as described. Clean, comfortable, and ready for our family trip. There was even a thoughtful note and farm-fresh eggs from his family farm, which was such a kind touch. Overall, a great experience and someone I would book with again.

How do I budget for fuel on my Guadalupe RV trip?

Fuel is often the biggest variable cost on an RV trip. Most Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, while larger Class A coaches may get closer to 6 to 8 MPG. California gas prices typically run well above the national average, so check the California Energy Commission's weekly retail price report when planning. Coastal Highway 1 driving from Guadalupe is gentler on fuel than inland mountain routes. Fill up in Santa Maria where prices tend to be lower than in smaller coastal towns.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Guadalupe?

For summer weekends and holidays, book campgrounds near Guadalupe 3 to 6 months in advance. California State Park sites at Pismo State Beach and Oceano open reservations 6 months ahead on ReserveCalifornia and often sell out within minutes. San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara county parks tend to book up 2 to 3 months ahead. For midweek and off-season trips between November and March, you can often find sites just a few weeks out.

What are local driving conditions like for RVs in Guadalupe?

Guadalupe is RV-friendly, with Highway 1 and Highway 166 providing wide, straightforward access through town. Watch for early morning coastal fog reducing visibility and strong afternoon winds in spring, which can push higher-profile motorhomes. Downtown streets are narrower, so larger rigs should stick to main roads and use larger lots at coastal access points. Caltrans District 5 publishes current road conditions and closures for the Central Coast.

Do Guadalupe RV campgrounds have hookups and dump stations?

Yes. Many campgrounds near Guadalupe offer full or partial hookups. Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort in Oceano provides full hookups (water, electric, sewer) at each site, and Lopez Lake Recreation Area offers a mix of hookup and non-hookup sites plus a dump station. Pismo State Beach has hookup sites at North Beach and Oceano campgrounds. Bring a 25-foot sewer hose, a water pressure regulator, and a 30 to 50 amp adapter to handle most setups easily.
