As a first-time RV camper, I had a lot of questions, and Peter was the only host who took the time to answer all of them which made booking easy. We stayed at Morro Dunes RV Park, and the RV was just as described. Clean, comfortable, and ready for our family trip. There was even a thoughtful note and farm-fresh eggs from his family farm, which was such a kind touch. Overall, a great experience and someone I would book with again.

What's the best time of year for an RV trip to San Luis Obispo?

San Luis Obispo enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, making it a great RV destination year-round. Spring and fall bring daytime highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s F and are ideal for hiking and wine country visits. Summer highs typically reach the upper 70s to mid 80s F with cool Pacific breezes, while winters are gentle with highs in the low 60s F and most of the area's rainfall. Spring wildflowers and the fall grape harvest make shoulder seasons especially rewarding, and booking early is wise around Cal Poly graduation in June.

How do I budget for fuel on my motorhome rental in San Luis Obispo?

Most motorhome rentals in San Luis Obispo average 8 to 12 MPG, while campervans typically get 15 to 20 MPG. California gas prices run higher than the national average, so plan accordingly when budgeting your trip. For a 200-mile Central Coast loop, plan roughly $80 to $140 in fuel depending on the rig. Will I have trouble driving an RV around San Luis Obispo's roads?

Driving an RV around San Luis Obispo is manageable for most renters. Highway 101 and the local routes through town are well maintained with reasonable grades. Highway 1 north toward Big Sur is scenic but includes narrow sections, tight curves, and seasonal closures, so check Caltrans conditions before heading that way. Traffic is generally light outside of Cal Poly commute hours. If you prefer to skip city driving, ask your host about delivery directly to your campground or event venue.
