We enjoyed it! Loved the camper! Modern, neat and cleaned. Was surprised by the linen! Most RVs require you to bring your own! Had a great time. Will rent again next year as well as other family members!

Doug was a fantastic host! Very clear communication and quick response. He had everything set up for us to enjoy our weekend without having to do any setting up. He even had the camper nice & cool when we arrived! The camper was more than I expected. It was very Clean, modern, stocked with everything you may need or with things you may have forgotten to bring for the outdoors. I highly recommend Doug to host your family’s next outing in his RV! Thanks again Doug.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Mendota, IL?
RV rental in Mendota is affordable compared to big-city Chicago rates just 90 miles east. Travel trailers typically run $75 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $150 to $250 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes average $200 to $350 per night. Booking midweek (Sunday through Thursday) and traveling during the shoulder season in May or September can shave 15 to 25 percent off peak summer pricing. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mendota,%20IllinoisWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Mendota, IL?
Good news: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Mendota. Illinois does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use RVs, including Class A motorhomes, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels available on RVezy. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older and must complete a quick ID verification through the RVezy platform when you book. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association and pair it with your home license. That's it, you're ready for your Mendota RV trip.

Every RV rental in Mendota booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road with peace of mind. During checkout, you choose your level of coverage based on how much protection you want against accidental damage to the RV. This isn't traditional auto insurance, but the protection plan covers eligible damages to the vehicle and comes with a clear deductible, so there are no surprises. Guests, not hosts, pick the coverage level, meaning you stay in control of your budget and your comfort the whole trip.

Booking your motorhome rental Mendota trip is low-risk because RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. If the host cancels, you'll receive a refund or travel credit per RVezy policy. The full details are on the RVezy Help Center, and customer support can walk you through your specific situation. Bottom line: you can lock in that summer Starved Rock weekend now without feeling stuck if plans shift.

dnr.illinois.gov/parks/park.starvedrock.htmlWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Mendota?
Late April through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping Mendota travelers love most. Spring (April to May) brings 55 to 70°F days and blooming prairie wildflowers; summer (June to August) is warm and humid with highs of 80 to 90°F, ideal for swimming at Shabbona Lake; and fall (mid-September through October) delivers crisp 50 to 70°F weather and stunning foliage at Starved Rock. Winter RVing is possible but cold, with January lows often below 20°F and occasional snow, so look for listings with heated holding tanks and shore power if you're going off-season. Insider tip: mid-October is peak leaf-peeping season, so book your campervan rental Mendota at least two months ahead.
weather.gov/lot/I've never rented an RV before. Is it really doable?
You've got this, first time renting an RV in Mendota is one of the easiest places to start. North-central Illinois is mostly flat farmland with wide highways like I-39 and I-80 running right through, meaning no mountain passes, no white-knuckle switchbacks, and plenty of room to get comfortable. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, covering the slide-outs, propane, water systems, and dumping tanks. You can message your host anytime during the trip with questions, and 24/7 roadside assistance is just a phone call away. Pro tip: do a slow practice loop in a large open parking lot before hitting I-39.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002467393-For-GuestsWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical issues. One call gets help dispatched to your location, whether you're parked at Starved Rock, cruising I-39 north toward Rockford, or camping near the Illinois River. Your host is also just a message away through the RVezy app for quick troubleshooting (often it's something simple like a tripped GFCI breaker). Save your host's number and the RVezy support line in your phone before you leave the driveway, and you'll handle any hiccup like a pro.

Yes, an RV road trip from Mendota across state lines is totally doable and incredibly popular, you're perfectly positioned at the I-39/I-80 crossroads. Common routes include heading north to the Wisconsin Dells (about 175 miles), east to Indiana Dunes National Park (about 130 miles), west to the Mississippi River and the Quad Cities (about 75 miles), or south to St. Louis (about 260 miles). Cross-border travel into Canada is allowed on many listings but depends on the host and the protection plan, so message the host before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Confirm any international plans in writing through the RVezy chat.

Fuel is the biggest variable in your budget, but Mendota's flat terrain helps your wallet. Expect Class B campervans to get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, Class A motorhomes 6 to 10 MPG, and trucks pulling travel trailers 10 to 14 MPG. Illinois gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, and you'll find competitive prices at the truck stops and Casey's stations clustered around the I-39/US-34 interchange right in Mendota. Pro tip: top off in Mendota before heading into smaller towns near Starved Rock, where rural stations can be noticeably more per gallon.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Mendota?
Book early and you'll have your pick of the best sites. Starved Rock State Park Campground opens reservations 6 months ahead through the Illinois DNR Reserve America portal, and prime summer weekends (especially Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day) fill within hours of opening. Woodhaven Lakes and other private campgrounds typically book 2 to 4 months out for peak weekends. For shoulder-season trips in May or September, 3 to 6 weeks is usually plenty. Insider tip: if your dates are flexible, Sunday-through-Thursday stays often have better availability even at Starved Rock, so you can plan your Mendota RV trip on shorter notice.
dnr.illinois.gov/parks/parkscamping.htmlWhat are the driving conditions like around Mendota, IL?
Driving an RV around Mendota is genuinely beginner-friendly, the area sits on flat-to-gently-rolling prairie with wide, well-maintained roads. I-39 (north-south) and I-80 (east-west) meet just minutes from town, both with generous shoulders and steady traffic. Watch for occasional strong crosswinds on open stretches of I-39, slow farm equipment on rural routes in spring and fall, and summer thunderstorms that can pop up fast (pull off at a rest area if visibility drops). Winter brings ice and the occasional whiteout, so most renters stick to April through October. Check current conditions on the Illinois Department of Transportation's Getting Around Illinois tool before you head out.

Potable water and dump access is also available at many Illinois state recreation areas.
