RV & camper rentals in Princeton, IN

An RV rental in Princeton is one of the more affordable getaways in the Midwest. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run about $150 to $250, and larger Class A rigs land in the $225 to $350 range. Because Princeton sits between Evansville and Vincennes, you'll find a healthy mix of locally owned rigs without big-city markups. To save even more, book mid-week, target shoulder months like late April or early October, and filter for hosts offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: many Princeton hosts include extras like camp chairs or starter kits in the base price, which can save you $50 to $100 versus booking add-ons separately.

Good news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Princeton. The Indiana BMV only requires a Commercial Driver's License for rigs over 26,000 pounds GVWR, and virtually every motorhome, travel trailer, and campervan on RVezy comes in well under that threshold. To book on RVezy, approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and you'll confirm your identity through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home country license, and an International Driving Permit is recommended if your license isn't in English.

You're covered from the moment you hit the road. Every RV rental in Princeton booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so help is a phone call away if you get a flat on US-41 or need a jump start at Patoka Lake. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV up to the plan limits, giving you peace of mind without arranging third-party coverage. During checkout you choose between different protection levels based on how much coverage you want; the plan is set by RVezy, not the host. It's designed specifically for peer-to-peer RV rentals and makes saying yes to your first Indiana RV trip easier.

You can book with confidence. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy, and there is a grace period after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, your refund amount depends on how far out from your trip you cancel. Because the policy is platform-wide, you won't see different cancellation rules on different Princeton listings. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will help you rebook or issue a refund. Pro tip: if your plans feel uncertain, book early to lock in the rig you want and use the grace period as a free look, and contact RVezy support anytime if you need help.

Absolutely, your pup is welcome on the trip. Plenty of hosts on RVezy offer a pet-friendly RV rental in Princeton; just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search and you'll see every rig that allows four-legged co-pilots. Indiana State Parks also welcome leashed pets in designated areas, so you can take your dog hiking at nearby Harmonie State Park or along Patoka Lake trails. Some hosts charge a small pet fee or require extra cleaning, which is shown clearly on the listing. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl and a tie-out stake. Most area campgrounds have grassy sites perfect for letting your dog stretch after the drive in.

Yes, and it's often the easiest way to start your trip. Many hosts on RVezy offer RV delivery in Princeton and the surrounding area, dropping the rig at your campsite, vacation rental, or driveway. They'll level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys, which is perfect for first time renting an RV. Popular delivery destinations include Patoka Lake, Harmonie State Park, and Scales Lake Park near Boonville. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location, so filter by Delivery on RVezy and message the host directly to confirm your campsite address and lock in the drop-off time.

You can cover a lot of ground from Princeton. Most hosts include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day), and some offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage as an add-on, which is great for longer trips. From Princeton, you're about 30 miles to Evansville, 45 miles to Patoka Lake, 75 miles to Lincoln State Park, 130 miles to Louisville, Kentucky, and roughly 175 miles to Indianapolis. Nashville, Tennessee is a popular haul south, around 240 miles. Pro tip: if you're planning a multi-state loop or a longer RV road trip from Princeton, message the host before booking to pre-purchase extra miles at a discounted per-mile rate.

You've got fantastic options within an hour of town. Some of the best campgrounds near Princeton include Harmonie State Park (about 35 miles south near New Harmony) with electric sites along the Wabash River; Scales Lake Park in Boonville with lakefront RV sites and swimming; Newton-Stewart State Recreation Area at Patoka Lake, Indiana's second-largest lake, with hundreds of electric sites; Lincoln State Park near Santa Claus, ideal if you're combining RV camping in Princeton with a Holiday World visit; and Lake Rudolph Campground and RV Resort, a popular family resort next to Holiday World. Book Indiana State Park sites through the Indiana DNR reservation system up to six months ahead.

Late April through mid-October is the sweet spot for a Princeton RV trip. Spring (April-May) brings highs in the 65 to 75 degree F range and blooming dogwoods, though it's also a rainy stretch and the peak of severe weather season, so keep an eye on the radar. Summer (June-August) is hot and humid with highs in the mid-80s and heat indices that can climb near 95 degrees F, perfect for lake days at Patoka. Fall (September-October) is the local insider's pick: crisp mornings, highs in the 70s, lower humidity, and great color in Hoosier National Forest. Winters dip into the 20s with occasional snow, so most area campgrounds shift to limited services from November through March.

You're going to do great, and you won't be alone. Every host on RVezy gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, holding tanks, and the generator, so you'll leave feeling confident. Princeton is a smart launch pad for first time renting an RV because the roads around the area are flat, wide, and lightly trafficked compared with bigger metros, perfect for getting comfortable before merging onto I-64 or I-69. If something comes up mid-trip, you can message or call your host or tap into RVezy's 24/7 support. Pro tip: do a quick loop in the host's neighborhood before heading out so you've got a feel for the turn radius and mirrors.

You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, which handles things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing if you ever need it. Whether you're at a rest area on I-69 outside Princeton or deep in Hoosier National Forest, help is one phone call away. For mechanical or appliance issues (think: the awning won't retract or the fridge stops cooling), your host is your first call and usually responds quickly. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's number to your phone before you pull out of the driveway.

Yes, crossing state lines is fine and very common from Princeton. You're only about 15 miles from the Illinois border and around 35 miles from the Kentucky line via the Henderson bridge, making cross-state RV trips a breeze. Popular routes include heading south on US-41 into Henderson, KY, west into Shawnee National Forest in Illinois, or southeast to Mammoth Cave National Park (about 150 miles). Travel within the United States is covered by your RVezy protection plan; just keep your host informed of your route. One important note: travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there, so plan your road trip from Princeton within the United States.

Budgeting is easier than you'd think. Class B campervans average 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 8-12 MPG, and Class A rigs 6-10 MPG, while a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer usually lands around 10-14 MPG. Gas in the Princeton area tends to track close to the national average, and the US-41 corridor near the Toyota Princeton plant has plenty of large, RV-friendly stations like Pilot, Love's, and Casey's where you can pull through without unhooking. For a 4-night trip covering 400 miles in a Class C, plan roughly $150 to $220 in fuel. Pro tip: use GasBuddy and fuel up before you leave town since rural stops can run higher per gallon.

For peak summer weekends, book 3 to 4 months ahead, especially for Indiana State Parks. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources lets you reserve campsites up to six months in advance at parks like Harmonie, Patoka Lake (Newton-Stewart SRA), and Lincoln. Holiday weekends typically require a three-night minimum, and non-holiday weekends require two nights. For private parks like Lake Rudolph near Holiday World, lock in your spot by February for peak summer dates. Pro tip: if your dates are full, set a cancellation alert and consider Sunday-through-Thursday stays which are often wide open even in July. Local insider tip: midweek camping at Patoka Lake means quieter sites and easier boat ramp access.

Driving conditions around Princeton are very RV-friendly. The terrain is flat to gently rolling, and the main routes (US-41, I-69, I-64, and SR-64) are wide, well-maintained, and easy to navigate even in a 30-foot motorhome. Watch for occasional farm equipment on rural roads during planting and harvest seasons, and stay weather-aware April through June when southern Indiana sees thunderstorms and occasional tornado warnings. Winter can bring brief ice storms, so most renters stick to April through October. Pro tip: avoid driving through Princeton's older blocks around the courthouse square in a tall rig; stay on US-41 or the truck routes. From there, you're about 90 minutes from the quiet country roads of Hoosier National Forest.

You'll find everything you need for a comfortable stay. Most campgrounds near Princeton offer 30-amp and 50-amp electric, water hookups, and dump stations, while Indiana State Parks like Patoka Lake and Harmonie also provide modern bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets. Full sewer hookups are less common at state parks but standard at private resorts like Lake Rudolph. For dumping and freshwater fill-ups on travel days, the dump station at Harmonie State Park is open to registered campers, and several Pilot and Flying J locations along I-64 and I-69 offer RV dumps for a small fee. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a basic 30-to-50-amp adapter to handle any site setup.

You'll be impressed by how stocked these rigs are. Most motorhome rental Princeton listings come with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a private bathroom with shower and toilet, comfortable sleeping for 4 to 8 people, climate-controlled AC and furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and onboard generator for off-grid power; some hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor speakers, and starter kits with linens, kitchenware, and camp chairs. Listings clearly show what's included with photos and an amenity checklist. Pro tip: if you're traveling with kids, filter by sleeps count and look for rigs with bunk beds, since many local hosts cater to family RV trips in Princeton heading to Holiday World.

Hosts make customization easy. Popular add-ons for a campervan rental Princeton or motorhome booking include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits, additional generator hours, bike racks, outdoor grills, fire pits, and extra miles purchased upfront at a discounted rate. Pickup and drop-off windows are set by each host and shown on the listing, with most offering flexible 1 to 2 hour windows. Delivery is also an option from many Princeton hosts. Pro tip: bundle your add-ons in the initial booking request rather than tacking them on later, since some hosts offer package discounts when you grab linens, a kitchen kit, and camp chairs together for that family RV trip in Princeton.

The payment process is simple and secure. When you book a cheap RV rental in Princeton or any rig on RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit card; no cash, no checks, no awkward handoffs. A security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before the trip starts (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) and is released after drop-off assuming no damage or excess cleaning. To avoid deposit issues, do a thorough walkaround with the host at pickup, take date-stamped photos of the interior and exterior, and return the RV with the same fuel level and reasonably clean. Pro tip: ask the host upfront about cleaning expectations and dump station requirements so there are zero surprises.

Head about 45 miles east to Patoka Lake for boating and bald eagle sightings, 65 miles southeast to Holiday World and Lincoln's boyhood home, around 150 miles south to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky (the world's longest known cave system), 175 miles north to Indianapolis for the Motor Speedway, or about 240 miles south to Nashville, Tennessee for live music. For a longer loop, the Ohio River Scenic Byway hugs the river from Evansville eastward through small towns and overlooks. Pro tip: a 5 to 7 day loop combining Patoka Lake, Hoosier National Forest, and Mammoth Cave is the quintessential southern Indiana RV trip, all on easy-driving routes from Princeton.
