Thanks to Chrystal and her husband we had a wonderful and relaxing time on vacation. The rental, delivery, and set up went smoothly, and the camper was so cozy and comfortable with plenty room. Chrystal even had a snack basket for us with all kind of goodies we enjoyed. Plan to rent again in April !!

Kelsey was very responsive as this was our first time renting/driving/experiencing an RV. Easy pick up and drop off and she was great to work with. The RV was very clean. We did have to provide sheets for the other two beds as the only sheets provided were the ones for the queen, but that wasn't a huge deal, as we liked having our own linens. She had plenty of towels and kitchen amenities. Everything was very clean. But for the fridge that stopped working on our way back and the base of the toilet slowly leaking clean water (none of these were her fault), everything went very smoothly.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Calvert City, KY

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Calvert City, KY?

An RV rental in Calvert City is one of the most affordable ways to enjoy Kentucky Lake and Land Between the Lakes. On RVezy, travel trailers typically run about $75 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $150 to $250, and larger Class A motorhomes fall between $200 and $350. Hosts in western Kentucky set their own pricing, so you can filter by price range to find a cheap RV rental in Calvert City that fits your budget. Add a few hosts to your favorites and message them about weekly discounts.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Calvert City, Kentucky?

Good news for first-time renters: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Calvert City. Kentucky does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal motorhomes or travel trailers, even big Class A rigs. You just need to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the booking flow. Visiting from overseas? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), which is usually under $20 from your local auto club. That's it. You'll be cruising US-62 toward Kentucky Lake before you know it.

Can I bring my dog on a Calvert City RV rental?

Yes, pups are very welcome on Kentucky Lake trips. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental in Calvert City whose host allows dogs. Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park and the Paducah/I-24/Kentucky Lake KOA both welcome leashed dogs at their RV sites, and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area allows leashed pets on most trails and shorelines. Pack a long lead for shoreline lounging, plenty of fresh water for humid afternoons, and proof of vaccinations. Message the host before booking if your dog is over 50 pounds, just to confirm.

Can a host deliver the RV to my campground in Calvert City?

Yes, RV delivery in Calvert City is a game-changer, especially if it is your first time. Many RVezy hosts will drive the RV straight to Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park or the Paducah/I-24/Kentucky Lake KOA, level it, hook up water, power, and sewer, then walk you through every system before handing over the keys. That means zero towing stress and zero learning curve on day one. Just use the Delivery filter when you search, enter your campground address, and hosts will quote a delivery fee (often $2 to $4 per mile round trip from their location). It is the easiest way to start your Kentucky Lake RV trip.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Calvert City?

Late April through mid-October is prime RV season around Calvert City, with a sweet spot in May, September, and early October when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s and 80s and humidity drops. July and August bring the lake-life buzz, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and warm 80-degree water perfect for swimming. Spring brings dogwood blooms and excellent crappie fishing on Kentucky Lake, while October paints Land Between the Lakes in fiery oranges and reds. Winters are mild but quiet, with highs in the 40s; many parks stay open year-round if you want a peaceful off-season getaway. Insider tip: aim for the week after Labor Day for warm water and empty campgrounds.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay around Calvert City?

You're going to do great, and Calvert City is honestly one of the easiest places in the country to learn. The area features wide, flat roads, gentle rolling terrain, and short distances between campgrounds. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, covering propane, slides, tanks, leveling, and how to back into a site. If you're nervous about towing or driving a 30-foot motorhome, book a host who offers delivery and setup so the rig arrives ready at your campsite. First time renting an RV? Stick to one move per day, drive 55-60 mph on US-62 and the Purchase Parkway, and you'll be lakeside before lunch.

What happens if I break down during my Calvert City RV trip?

You are covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so whether you are stuck on I-24 near Paducah, on the Trace inside Land Between the Lakes, or at a marina near Kentucky Dam, one call gets you a tow, tire change, jump start, or fuel delivery. Your host is also a phone call away for quick questions like resetting the inverter or relighting the water heater. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave, snap a photo of the RV plate and VIN, and relax.

What road trips can I take from Calvert City in an RV?

Calvert City is a launchpad for some of the South's best drives. A classic RV road trip from Calvert City starts with Land Between the Lakes (15 minutes east) for a loop of the Elk and Bison Prairie and the Homeplace 1850s Working Farm. From there, swing south about 130 miles to Nashville for honky-tonk weekends, west about 175 miles to Memphis for barbecue and Beale Street, or east about 150 miles to Mammoth Cave National Park. Heading to Chicago (about 400 miles) or Great Smoky Mountains National Park (about 370 miles)? Both are doable in two driving days. Cross-border travel to Tennessee and Illinois is allowed; Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Calvert City RV trip?

Fuel is easier to predict than you'd think. Expect 7-10 miles per gallon (MPG) for Class A motorhomes, 10-14 MPG for Class C, 15-20 MPG for campervans, and 10-15 MPG for a truck towing a travel trailer. Kentucky gas prices typically run 20 to 40 cents below the national average, with diesel widely available at Pilot and Love's truck stops along I-24 in Paducah (Exit 3) and Calvert City (Exit 27). For a typical 4-night, 200-mile loop around Kentucky Lake and Land Between the Lakes, budget $80 to $150 in fuel. Pro tip: fuel up at the Marathon or Murphy in Calvert City before crossing the dam, since options inside LBL are limited.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Calvert City?

Booking ahead pays off, but you still have last-minute options. For Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, reserve 4 to 6 months out for summer weekends and holidays via reservations.ky.gov; midweek sites often open up 2 to 3 weeks ahead. Hillman Ferry and other Land Between the Lakes campgrounds can be booked up to 6 months in advance through Recreation.gov. Private parks like the Paducah/I-24/Kentucky Lake KOA usually have availability with 2 to 4 weeks of notice outside of July 4th and Labor Day. Pro tip: if you strike out on Saturday nights, book Sunday through Thursday instead. The lake is calmer, sites are cheaper, and sunrise over Kentucky Lake is unreal.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/234217

What are the driving conditions like in and around Calvert City?

Driving conditions are RV-friendly. Calvert City sits right at the junction of I-24 and the Purchase Parkway (I-69), both wide, well-maintained four-lane highways with gentle grades, which makes maneuvering a motorhome or travel trailer stress-free. US-62 through town is flat and straight, and the Eggners Ferry Bridge (US-68) crossing Kentucky Lake to Land Between the Lakes has full RV clearance. Watch for occasional fog along the river bottoms early in the morning and brief but heavy thunderstorms in summer afternoons; pull off at a rest area on I-24 if visibility drops. Winter sees rare ice events, mainly January and February. Avoid backroads east of LBL after dark since deer are very active at dusk.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds around Kentucky Lake?

You'll be impressed by the setup. Most full-service campgrounds around Calvert City offer 20/30/50-amp electric, fresh water hookups, sewer at the site or a dump station, plus bathhouses with hot showers. Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park has a marina, pool, golf course, and on-site dump station. Cypress Lakes RV Park adds a swimming pool, laundry, and two fishing lakes right inside the park. Most private parks have free Wi-Fi (lake-area cell coverage can be spotty, so don't count on streaming). Fresh water fills are easy at every developed park, and propane refills are available in Calvert City and Gilbertsville. Bring a 25-foot freshwater hose and a 30-to-50-amp adapter just in case.

Most rigs include a TV, and many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor grills, camp chairs, generators, or solar packages.
