2018 Thor Motor Coach Class C
This was our very first time renting an RV, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment we booked, our host, Binbin, was incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming. Anytime I had a question—no matter how small—I could call or message him, and he was always quick to answer. He took the time to explain everything thoroughly and never made me feel like I was asking too many questions. By the time we left, I felt like an RV pro thanks to him! The RV itself was absolutely beautiful, spotless, and exceptionally well maintained. It was comfortable, spacious, and had everything my family needed for an amazing trip. You can tell Binbin truly takes pride in taking care of his RV and making sure his guests have a wonderful experience. This trip created memories we'll never forget, and a big part of that was because of how wonderful Binbin was as a host. I genuinely can't say enough good things about him. If you're considering renting an RV, I highly recommend this one. We will definitely be renting from Binbin again for our future trips. Thank you, Binbin, for making our first RV adventure so enjoyable, stress-free, and memorable!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Au Gres, MI
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Au Gres, MI?
RV rental in Au Gres is an affordable way to explore Michigan's Sunrise Coast. Expect to budget roughly $95 to $175 per night for travel trailers, $135 to $225 for Class C motorhomes, and $200 or more for larger Class A rigs. Pricing on RVezy is set by individual hosts, so you can filter by price, sleeps count, and RV type to find a cheap RV rental in Au Gres that still fits your crew. Tip: book midweek in June or September to skip walleye-tournament weekend premiums while still enjoying warm Saginaw Bay weather.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Au%20Gres%2C%20MichiganWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Au Gres, Michigan?
A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Au Gres. Michigan does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for recreational motorhomes or trailers driven by private guests, so your everyday Class D (or out-of-state equivalent) license works for Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers. To rent on RVezy you must generally be at least 25 years old and complete ID verification during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home-country license and you're ready to roll toward Lake Huron.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental protected if something goes wrong?
Yes. Every Au Gres RV rental booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on sunrise views over Saginaw Bay. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, and at checkout you choose the coverage tier that matches your comfort level. Coverage details and limits are outlined on RVezy's protection pages. If a question comes up on the road near Au Gres or out at Tawas Point, RVezy support is reachable around the clock.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy for an Au Gres RV rental?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy centrally for every reservation, not the host. The refund you receive depends on how far out you are from your trip start date and the specific circumstances. Because the policy is standardized across RVezy, you don't need to negotiate with individual hosts. If your plans for your Au Gres RV trip shift, contact RVezy support and they'll walk you through your options so you can rebook with confidence.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Au Gres?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental in Au Gres is easy to find on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see motorhomes and trailers whose hosts welcome dogs (some allow cats too). Au Gres is a great dog town: the riverfront bike path from downtown to the mouth of the Au Gres River is leash-friendly, and Tawas Point State Park about 30 minutes north welcomes leashed pets on most trails and designated beach areas along Lake Huron. Most local campgrounds, including the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground, allow leashed pets at sites. Pack a long lead, fresh water, and a towel for sandy paws.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/state-parks/rules-regulationsCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Au Gres?
Yes, RV delivery in Au Gres is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, and many hosts on RVezy offer it as an add-on. They'll tow or drive the rig directly to the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground, Point Au Gres Marina, or a private property, then level it, hook up water and electric, and walk you through every system. That makes it perfect for first time renting an RV travelers who'd rather not tow down US-23. Filter listings by Delivery, message the host with your campsite number, and confirm the delivery fee before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Au%20Gres%2C%20Michigan&Delivery=trueHow does mileage work and how far can I travel from Au Gres?
Hosts on RVezy set their own mileage policies, and you'll see the daily allowance (or RV rental with unlimited mileage option) clearly on each listing before you book. From Au Gres, most weekend trips stay well within typical limits: Tawas Point Lighthouse is about 22 miles north, Bay City State Park is roughly 45 miles south, Mackinaw City sits about 155 miles to the north, and Sleeping Bear Dunes is around 175 miles northwest. If you're planning a bigger Michigan loop, filter for unlimited-mileage listings or message the host about a bundle, especially for week-long bookings.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Au%20Gres%2C%20MichiganWhat are the best campgrounds near Au Gres for an RV?
You have great options for RV camping in Au Gres right on the water. City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground offers riverfront sites with full and partial hookups along the Au Gres River, just minutes from downtown. Point Au Gres Marina is ideal if you're bringing a boat, with direct Saginaw Bay access. Tawas Point State Park, about 30 minutes north, offers electric sites and an iconic 1876 lighthouse on a sandy peninsula. Heading south, Bay City State Park sits along Saginaw Bay with modern amenities. Book early for July and August weekends.
midnrreservations.com/When is the best time of year for an Au Gres RV trip?
Au Gres shines from late May through mid-October, with the sweet spot landing in late June through August when daytime highs sit in the upper 70s to low 80s and Saginaw Bay water temps are warm enough for swimming. May and September are quieter, cooler (50s to 70s), and great for walleye fishing without weekend crowds. Most local campgrounds, including the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground, operate roughly from mid-April through mid-October. Winter rentals are rare here because of cold temperatures and snow. Insider tip: time your visit for the late-June walleye tournament weekends and downtown comes alive.
weather.gov/dtx/I have never rented an RV before. Is Au Gres a good place to start?
Au Gres is one of the easiest places in Michigan for a first-timer because traffic is light, US-23 is flat and well-marked, and many campgrounds have pull-through sites you'll never need to back into. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on orientation at pickup, showing you the water, electric, propane, slide-outs, and dump valves before you drive away. You can also message the host with questions before booking. Choose a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer for your first family RV trip in Au Gres, and consider delivery so the host sets everything up at your site.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Au%20Gres%2C%20MichiganWhat happens if I have a breakdown or roadside issue near Au Gres?
You're covered. Every RV rental in Au Gres booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you're at the Au Gres harbor or driving north on US-23. The service covers common road issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing to a qualified service center. Save the RVezy support contact in your phone before you leave the driveway, and message your host too. Most owners know the closest reliable mechanic and tire shop in nearby Standish or Tawas City.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trip routes from Au Gres?
An RV road trip from Au Gres can take you almost anywhere in the Great Lakes region. Drive about 22 miles north to Tawas Point for the lighthouse and sandy beach, continue up US-23 along the Sunrise Coast to Alpena and Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary (about 100 miles further north), or loop roughly 155 miles north to Mackinaw City and the Mackinac Bridge. Heading south, Bay City State Park is about 45 miles away, and Frankenmuth's Bavarian village sits around 70 miles southwest. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed by some hosts; message the host before booking to confirm.
michigan.org/article/trip-idea/us-23-heritage-routeWhat should I budget for fuel on an Au Gres RV trip?
Fuel is one of the biggest line items, but it is very predictable. Class B campervans average 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes typically run 8-12 MPG, and Class A coaches around 6-10 MPG. Towable trailers depend on your tow vehicle, usually 9-13 MPG combined. Michigan gas prices generally track a few cents under the national average. For a 200-mile weekend loop from Au Gres to Tawas Point and back, plan on roughly $60-$110 in fuel for a Class C. Fill up in Standish or West Branch where prices tend to be lowest along the I-75 corridor.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Au Gres?
For peak summer weekends, book your campsite as soon as you book your motorhome rental in Au Gres, ideally 4 to 6 months out. Michigan state parks like Tawas Point release reservations up to six months in advance through the Michigan DNR reservation system, and lakeside electric sites disappear fast for July 4 and Labor Day. The City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground handles bookings directly through the city, including online reservations. Midweek arrivals (Sunday to Thursday) are far easier to snag, and shoulder-season trips in May or late September often have walk-in availability.
midnrreservations.com/What are driving conditions like around Au Gres?
Driving an RV around Au Gres is refreshingly stress-free. US-23, the main artery through town, is a flat two-lane highway with wide shoulders and very little big-city traffic, ideal for a campervan rental in Au Gres or a 30-foot Class C. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk along wooded stretches between Au Gres and Omer, and slow down in summer when boat trailers turn into and out of marinas along the Au Gres River. Snow and icy conditions can hit the Sunrise Coast from November through March, so most RV trips stay between April and October when roads are clear.
mdotjboss.state.mi.us/MiDrive/mapWhat amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Au Gres?
Most campgrounds near Au Gres offer the essentials you need for a smooth stay. The City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground has full-hookup sites (sewer, water, 30/50-amp electric), water-and-electric sites, hot showers, flush toilets, a fish-cleaning station, a small boat launch, and a dump station on-site. Tawas Point State Park has electric sites, modern restrooms with showers, and a sanitation station. For potable water and dumping mid-trip, the Au Gres harbor and most local marinas have public fill stations. Pack a 50-to-30-amp dogbone adapter and a 25-foot freshwater hose just in case.
cityofaugresmi.com/au-gres-riverfront-campground/What features and amenities come with RV rentals in Au Gres?
Au Gres rentals on RVezy come stocked for real camping. Expect a queen or king bed plus convertible dinette or bunk sleeping, a kitchen with fridge, stovetop, microwave, sink, and cookware, a wet bath or full bathroom with shower, propane furnace, roof air conditioning, and seatbelted travel seats. Many Class C motorhomes include a TV, and some hosts offer Wi-Fi hotspots. Generator availability and outdoor gear vary, so check each listing's amenities. Walleye fishing on Saginaw Bay? Ask the host about rod holders, coolers, and outdoor shower add-ons; many Au Gres hosts are anglers themselves.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Au%20Gres%2C%20MichiganWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for Au Gres rentals?
You can customize your Au Gres RV rental with a menu of host add-ons: linen and towel packages, camp chairs and outdoor table sets, bike racks, kayak or paddleboard rentals (Saginaw Bay is glassy at sunrise), generators, propane fills, and pet cleaning fees if you bring a dog. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or around Arenac County, with a 30-to-60-minute walkthrough included. Many hosts also offer delivery to the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground or Point Au Gres Marina for a flat fee. Mileage policies, generator hours, and add-on pricing are listed on each listing page.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Au%20Gres%2C%20MichiganHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy with a credit card, not directly to the host, so there are no parking-lot cash handoffs in Au Gres. At booking you'll see the rental cost, service fee, taxes, and any add-ons broken out clearly. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment a few days before pickup (the amount varies by RV) and released after the host confirms the rig comes back in the same condition. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos at pickup and dropoff, follow the mileage and generator policies on the listing, and return with a clean interior and the same fuel level.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat is the local insider move for an unforgettable Au Gres trip?
Here's the local secret: time your Au Gres RV trip around sunrise on Saginaw Bay. Au Gres calls itself the gateway to Michigan's Sunrise Coast for a reason, and the boardwalk along the Au Gres River into Saginaw Bay is one of the best free seats in the house. Grab a bakery treat downtown, walk or bike the path to the river mouth, sample a flight at a local tasting room in the afternoon, and finish with a Friday fish dinner at a downtown pub. Book a riverfront site at the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground and you're walking distance to all of it.
