Brendon was great to work with. The trailer he dropped off for us was well cared for, though it is starting to show it's age. The beds were very comfortable, the most comfortable we have had in a camper. We would definitely rent this trailer from Brendon again.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Grayling, MI
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Grayling, MI?
RV rental in Grayling is one of the most affordable ways to experience Northern Michigan's AuSable River country. Travel trailers typically run $90 to $175 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $295 per night, and larger Class A coaches can reach $300 or more during peak summer. The cheapest RV rental in Grayling is usually a smaller travel trailer booked midweek in May, early June, or September, when nightly rates often drop. Book at least 60 days ahead of the AuSable River Canoe Marathon (last full weekend of July), because Grayling fills up fast and prices rise. Filter by Instant Book on RVezy to lock in your dates today.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Grayling%2C%20MichiganWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Grayling, Michigan?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Grayling, Michigan. Michigan does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes or travel trailers you'll find on RVezy. To be an approved driver, you generally need to be 25 or older and upload a valid driver's license, which RVezy verifies during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-timers are pleasantly surprised by how straightforward the requirements are, leaving more time to plan your AuSable River trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental insurance and roadside assistance included?
Yes, every RV rental in Grayling booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance. The protection plan helps cover damage to the vehicle for real peace of mind on the road. During checkout you choose the protection tier that fits your trip, so you can scale coverage up for longer trips into the Huron-Manistee National Forests. You select your coverage level, not the host. That means whether you're floating the Holy Waters or driving to Hartwick Pines State Park, you're backed up if a tire blows or something unexpected happens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Grayling RV booking?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (hosts don't), and there's a money-back grace period after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund eligibility after that window depends on how far out your trip start date is and whether extenuating circumstances like natural disasters affect travel. If a major Northern Michigan snowstorm or wildfire impacts your plans, RVezy's support team can help sort things out. Go ahead and grab the RV you love for your Grayling RV trip, you've got room to adjust if life happens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Grayling?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Grayling is easy to find. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see motorhomes and trailers where the host welcomes dogs (and sometimes cats). Grayling is great for dog owners: Hartwick Pines State Park allows leashed pets on most trails, Hanson Hills Recreation Area has miles of dog-friendly paths, and the sandy banks along the AuSable River near Burton's Landing are perfect for a paw dip after a hot day. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for state parks. Pack a tie-out, a towel, and a water bowl, and your pup will have as much fun as you do.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/state-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Grayling?
Yes, RV delivery in Grayling is one of the most popular options on RVezy and is perfect if it's your first time renting an RV. Many hosts will tow or drive the motorhome straight to your site at Hartwick Pines State Park, a private park on Lake Margrethe, or a campground along the AuSable River, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Use the Delivery filter to see hosts who offer this service and their delivery radius. Delivery fees typically scale by mileage from the host's home base. Show up, unpack the cooler, and start your trip stress-free.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Grayling%2C%20MichiganHow does mileage work and how far can I drive from Grayling?
Most hosts in Grayling offer a generous daily mileage allowance, and some list RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a longer loop. Each listing shows the included miles and the per-mile fee for anything over, so there are no surprises. From Grayling you're well positioned: Mackinaw City is about 95 miles north, Traverse City is roughly 65 miles west, Sleeping Bear Dunes is around 100 miles, Tahquamenon Falls is about 165 miles, and Detroit is around 200 miles south. Message the host before booking to confirm mileage if you're planning the full Up-North loop, and you'll roll out with the right plan.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Grayling%2C%20MichiganWhere are the best campgrounds near Grayling for RV camping?
You have great choices for RV camping in Grayling. Hartwick Pines State Park, just north on M-93, has modern sites with electric hookups under old-growth white pines. River Park Campground hugs the East Branch of the AuSable River and is walking distance to downtown. Higgins Lake State Park (North and South units) is about 15 miles south with clear swimming water. For a rustic experience, Burton's Landing State Forest Campground puts you right on the Holy Waters of the AuSable. Book Michigan DNR sites up to six months ahead through the Michigan DNR reservation system.
midnrreservations.com/When is the best time to rent an RV in Grayling, MI?
Late June through mid-September is the sweet spot for an RV trip in Grayling, with daytime highs typically in the upper 70s to low 80s and warm river water perfect for tubing and kayaking. July is peak season thanks to the AuSable River Canoe Marathon (the last full weekend of the month) and prime trout fishing on the Holy Waters. September brings cooler nights in the 40s, fewer mosquitoes, and the start of stunning fall color on the maples and aspens. Winters are snowy and cold (often single digits at night), but Hanson Hills has groomed cross-country trails if you're up for a winter RV adventure with a host who provides cold-weather gear.
weather.gov/apx/I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving around Grayling?
You'll do great. First time renting an RV in Grayling is one of the easiest places to learn. The roads are wide, traffic is light, and I-75, M-72, and M-93 are flat, well-maintained two-to-four-lane highways. Every RVezy host does a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you the propane, water, slide-outs, generator, and dump procedures before you drive away. You can message the host any time during your trip with a question. If you'd rather skip driving altogether, choose a host who delivers and sets up at your campground. Take a deep breath, you'll be parked under the pines and grilling dinner before sunset.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002180594-RentersWhat happens if something breaks down on my Grayling RV trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat tire on I-75, a dead battery at Lake Margrethe, or a propane issue at Hartwick Pines, one phone call gets help dispatched to your location. For anything mechanical inside the RV, your host is your first call, and most respond quickly because they know their rig best. RVezy's support team is also available throughout your trip to step in if needed. Crawford County has reliable cell coverage along I-75 and downtown Grayling, so help is a tap away, even when you're deep in the AuSable River corridor.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106534-What-is-roadside-assistanceCan I take my Grayling RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Most hosts allow you to cross state lines, so a Grayling RV road trip into Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, or down toward the Smokies is on the table. Canada (Ontario via the Blue Water Bridge or Sault Ste. Marie) is allowed by some hosts as long as you confirm in advance, since insurance and the protection plan need to be set up for cross-border travel. Message the host directly from the listing before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage doesn't extend there. Popular cross-border picks from Grayling include Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula, roughly a 6-hour drive plus the ferry.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and fuel won't break the bank. Class B campervans in Grayling average 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 mpg, Class A coaches run 6 to 10 mpg, and a truck or SUV towing a travel trailer usually lands around 10 to 14 mpg. Michigan gas prices have recently been in the low-to-mid $3 per gallon range, with stations along I-75 and Business Loop I-75 in Grayling being the most convenient. For a typical 4-day, 400-mile loop through Hartwick Pines, Higgins Lake, and Mio in a Class C, budget roughly $150 to $200 in fuel. Fill up in Grayling before heading deeper into the Pigeon River Country, stations thin out fast.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Grayling?
For summer weekends, book Michigan state park campgrounds the moment your dates open, which is six months in advance through the Michigan DNR reservation system. Hartwick Pines, North Higgins Lake, and South Higgins Lake all fill quickly for July and August Saturdays, especially Canoe Marathon weekend. Private parks like River Park Campground can often be booked 2 to 3 months out, and rustic state forest campgrounds along the AuSable (Burton's Landing, Keystone Landing, Canoe Harbor) are first-come, first-served, so arriving Thursday gives you the best shot at a riverfront site. Midweek? You can usually snag a spot a week ahead.
midnrreservations.com/What are local driving conditions like around Grayling?
Driving in Grayling is refreshingly low-stress. You're in flat-to-gently-rolling jack pine country with great sightlines. I-75 runs right through town with RV-friendly exits, and M-72 and M-93 are wide, well-paved, and rarely congested. Watch for white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk, as Crawford County sees high deer-vehicle activity, and slow down on sandy two-tracks if you wander into the Huron National Forest. Winter brings lake-effect snow and occasional whiteouts on I-75, so if you're booking a winter Grayling RV trip, pick a host whose rig has good all-season tires and ask about snow chains. Otherwise, it's smooth, scenic cruising.
mdotjboss.state.mi.us/MiDrive/mapWhat hookups, dump stations, and water fill spots can I expect near Grayling?
You'll find solid infrastructure across Crawford County. Hartwick Pines State Park has electric hookups at most modern sites, a sanitation station, and potable water fills. Several private parks near Grayling offer full hookups including sewer. Higgins Lake State Parks have electric sites plus dump stations. Most rustic state forest campgrounds along the AuSable are water-and-vault-toilet only, so fill your fresh tank before heading in. Many hosts pre-fill water and propane at no extra cost, just confirm at pickup. Knowing where to park an RV in Grayling with hookups makes the trip dramatically easier.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/state-parksWhat's inside a typical motorhome rental in Grayling?
Motorhome rental in Grayling comes well equipped for Northern Michigan adventures. Expect a real bed (queen or king in many Class C and Class A units, convertible dinettes in campervans), a full kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge and freezer, a wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most rigs include a TV, and many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, generators, outdoor speakers, and bikes. Sleep counts range from 2 in a campervan up to 8 to 10 in a bunkhouse travel trailer, perfect for a family RV trip in Grayling. Check the listing's amenity icons and seatbelt count to match your group size, then message the host with specific gear questions.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Grayling%2C%20MichiganWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Grayling hosts offer some of the best add-ons in the state. Common extras include kayaks and tubes (a huge bonus for AuSable River floats), bike racks, generators, propane fire pits, outdoor camp kitchens, linen and kitchen packages, and fishing gear. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Grayling, Frederic, or Roscommon, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough included. Many hosts will also meet you at a campground for an extra delivery fee. Mileage policies and generator-hour limits are listed clearly on each page, so there are no surprises. Ask about the kayak add-on, the host shuttle plus AuSable float is the quintessential Grayling experience.
graylingmichigan.org/things-to-do/outdoors/water-activities/canoeing-kayaking/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and transparent. When you book your RV rental in Michigan through RVezy, you pay securely through the platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately before pickup (amounts vary by RV class and value, typically $500 to $1,500) and released after the trip once the host confirms the rig came back in good shape. Avoid issues by taking timestamped photos and a quick video at pickup and dropoff, returning with the same fuel and propane levels, and emptying tanks at a dump station. Do this and your deposit comes back fast, leaving you free to start planning the next Grayling RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Grayling in the winter?
Yes, and winter is an underrated time to rent an RV in Grayling. Northern Michigan winters bring heavy lake-effect snow and average lows in the teens to single digits, but several Grayling hosts list four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, electric fireplaces, and skirting kits. Hanson Hills Recreation Area has groomed cross-country trails, lit tubing hills, and downhill runs minutes from town, and the Forbush Corner trails are a Nordic skier favorite. Plan to stay at a private park with winter hookups, ask your host for the cold-weather walkthrough, and you've got a quiet, snowy adventure most travelers never consider.
