2018 Thor Motor Coach Class C
Renting this RV was a positive experience. Bryan and his wife made the process incredibly smooth, providing a very upkept RV. Though I only needed it overnight, (for an event) it was very well stocked with everything needed for an extended trip. I marked 5 stars for communication because he was so helpful and excellent to ensure everything went smoothly. This of course made pickup/drop-off a breeze, and the RV drove beautifully. HIGHLY recommended for a hassle-free, comfortable adventure. Thanks again Bryan.

Beautiful, clean, well appointed and easy to drive RV with intuitive controls. J was easy to reach and very helpful. Drove from Michigan to North Carolina and back in snow in gusting winds and I didn’t have to fight the vehicle to stay on the road. Visibility was superb. I highly recommend and would rent this RV again

Paul was great to deal with. He was flexible on pick up and drop off times, gave me a good walk through of the trailer as I picked it up and though i didnt need to call him, he made himself available for any questions while we were on our trip. The trailer was perfect, comfortable and no issues at all.

2018 Thor Motor Coach Class C
We rented Bryan’s 2018 Thor Class C motorhome for a quick 2-night trip, and it was absolutely perfect! The RV was in excellent condition. Clean, well-maintained, and clearly very well cared for. Everything worked exactly as it should, and you can tell Bryan takes pride in keeping it in top shape. Bryan himself was an absolute delight to work with. He was friendly, responsive, and great with communication from start to finish. He made the whole process simple and stress-free, and his thorough walk-through made us feel confident using the RV right away. If you’re looking for a smooth rental experience with a reliable and comfortable motorhome, I can’t recommend Bryan and his Thor Class C enough. We’d happily rent from him again! Update: We are renting it again! We already booked another trip with Bryan. Don’t hesitate to rent from Bryan. He made this so easy.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Troy?

The sweet spot for RV camping in Troy is late May through mid-October. Summer (June through August) brings warm days typically in the upper 70s to mid-80s F, perfect for lake swims at Stony Creek Metropark and beach time along Lake Huron. The insider pick is late September through mid-October, when fall colors light up Oakland County, daytime temps sit in a comfortable 55 to 70 F range, campgrounds quiet down, and rental prices drop. Spring (mid-April to May) is great for shoulder-season deals if you don't mind cool nights around 40 F. Winters are cold and snowy, so most leisure RV trips wrap up by late October.

Are winter RV rentals available in Troy, MI?

Yes, winter RV rentals in Troy are doable for the adventurous. Some RVezy hosts keep their RVs available year-round and offer four-season models with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces, so you can stay cozy even when January and February temperatures drop into the teens and 20s F. Winter rigs work well for ice-fishing trips to Houghton Lake, snowmobiling near Gaylord, or a base camp during a Detroit Red Wings game. Pro tip: filter for RVs labeled four-season or message the host to confirm tank heaters and shore power compatibility, and plan stays at campgrounds with winter electric hookups such as Algonac State Park.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Troy?

You'll do great, and your host will set you up for success. Every RVezy booking includes a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, covering driving tips, slide-outs, water, electric, propane, and waste systems, so you're not figuring anything out alone. For first time renting an RV, Class B campervans and small Class C motorhomes (22 to 25 feet) are easiest to handle on Troy's wide suburban roads like Big Beaver Road and Rochester Road. Take I-75 or M-59 to head out of town rather than navigating downtown Birmingham or central Detroit. Pro tip: practice a few right turns and a backup in a large parking lot like Somerset Collection before pointing north toward Mackinac.

Troy sits right at the intersection of I-75 and I-696, so help can reach you quickly, and metro Detroit has plenty of RV service centers for repairs. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before you pull away.

Can I take my Troy RV rental across the border into Canada?

Cross-border RV trips from Troy are popular, since the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel are both under an hour away. Crossing into Canada depends on each host's preference and whether their coverage allows international travel, so message the host directly from the listing before you book to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: if you do head to Ontario, bring your passport and the host's written permission, and plan a stop at Point Pelee National Park about 90 minutes from the Windsor crossing.

What are popular road trip routes from Troy, MI?

You're perfectly positioned for an unforgettable RV road trip from Troy. The classic route heads northwest up I-75 to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (about 230 miles, 4 hours), continuing to Mackinaw City and the Upper Peninsula. A shorter weekend loop runs to Frankenmuth's Bavarian village (about 75 miles) and the Saginaw Bay shoreline. Lake Huron's Sunrise Coast via US-23 through Tawas City is a stunning 3-hour drive. For something different, head west to Holland and the Lake Michigan dunes (about 180 miles). Insider tip: cross the Mackinac Bridge into the UP for Pictured Rocks, and plan fuel stops carefully since stations thin out north of Gaylord.

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for my Troy RV trip?

Budgeting fuel for an RV road trip from Troy is straightforward once you know the numbers. Class B campervans get the best mileage at about 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, and larger Class A motorhomes run 7 to 10 MPG. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves but typically reduce your tow vehicle's MPG by 25 to 40 percent. For a Troy-to-Traverse City round trip (about 460 miles) in a Class C, plan on roughly 35 to 45 gallons. Pro tip: warehouse club gas stations in Madison Heights and Auburn Hills usually offer the cheapest fill-ups before you leave town.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Troy?

For the best campgrounds near Troy, book as early as you can. Michigan state park campgrounds (Holly, Proud Lake, Pontiac Lake, Algonac, Bald Mountain) open their reservation window 6 months in advance through midnrreservations.com, and prime summer weekends often sell out within minutes. Oakland County parks like Addison Oaks accept reservations well in advance through their own system. Private resorts like Sun Outdoors Kensington Valley and Camp Dearborn also fill summer holidays fast. Pro tip: a Michigan Recreation Passport is required at state park entrances, so add it to your reservation or grab it at the gate.
midnrreservations.com/

What are the driving conditions like around Troy, MI?

Driving around Troy is mostly easy thanks to a flat suburban grid and wide arterials, but a few local quirks are worth knowing. I-75, I-696, and M-59 carry heavy commuter traffic on weekday mornings (7 to 9 a.m.) and evenings (4 to 6 p.m.), so leave outside those windows when starting your RV trip. Michigan Left turns on Big Beaver and Rochester Road require you to pass an intersection and then U-turn, and they're RV-friendly once you get used to them. Watch height clearances on older railroad underpasses on Maple Road. Winter brings snow and ice from December through March. Pro tip: use I-75 north to escape the metro fastest toward cottage country.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Troy?

Campgrounds near Troy offer a great range of amenities for every comfort level. Michigan state park modern campgrounds (Holly, Proud Lake, Pontiac Lake) include 30 and 50 amp electric hookups, potable water spigots, modern restrooms with hot showers, and on-site dump stations, though full sewer hookups at the site are rare. Private parks like Sun Outdoors Kensington Valley and Camp Dearborn add full hookups, pools, laundry, Wi-Fi, and camp stores. Quiet hours run 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. at state parks. Pro tip: if your site doesn't have sewer, use the campground's dump station on the way out, and Cabela's in Dundee offers a convenient dump-and-fill stop heading south.

Expect a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a private bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on size, climate control with both AC and a propane furnace, and DOT-approved seatbelts for every passenger riding while in motion. Many motorhome rentals in Troy also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and an onboard generator for off-grid power. Linens, kitchen kits, and camp chairs are often offered as add-ons during checkout. How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure online through RVezy, so there's no cash exchange at pickup. When you book, you pay the rental total plus your chosen protection plan fee by credit card, and the host receives funds after your trip begins. Each host sets a refundable security deposit, separate from your booking payment, which is typically pre-authorized on your card and released after return assuming no damage. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos of the RV's interior and exterior at pickup and return, top off fuel and propane as required, and your deposit comes back so you can start planning the next Michigan trip.
