Tye and Taunya were amazing hosts. They both came and set everything up for us and showed us how to work everything. If we had any questions they responded right away. They have a beautiful trailer and we are very thankful we were able to rent it and had a wonderful vacation with our grandchildren. We would highly recommend contacting them if you are thinking of renting a trailer. It comes with everything you need. They are great people to deal with.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Taylor, MI
How much does an RV rental in Taylor, MI typically cost?
RV rental in Taylor, MI is one of the more affordable ways to vacation in Metro Detroit, with most travel trailers starting around $90 to $175 per night and motorhomes ranging from roughly $175 to $325 per night depending on size and season. Campervan rentals often land in the middle and are a great fit for couples who want something easy to drive. You will save the most by booking midweek, traveling in May or September when summer demand cools, and choosing a travel trailer if you already have a tow vehicle. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and message a few hosts before peak summer weekends, when Detroit hosts Movement Festival and the Woodward Dream Cruise and prices climb fastest.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Taylor%2C%20MichiganWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Taylor, Michigan?
Good news: a regular Michigan driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Taylor, even for big Class A motorhomes. Michigan does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal recreational vehicles under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every rig on the platform. You'll just need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during checkout, so there is nothing extra to mail or upload at the dealer. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set for your Taylor RV trip.
michigan.gov/sos/license-idIs my RV rental in Taylor protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Taylor, MI booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit I-75 with confidence. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose the coverage level that fits your comfort at checkout, not the host. Whether you are driving a campervan to Belle Isle or a Class C up to Sleeping Bear Dunes, you are covered for the unexpected. It is not a traditional auto policy, but it offers real financial protection and peace of mind, especially for first-time renters exploring Michigan.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Taylor RV rental?
Booking is low risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, and there is a short grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates without stress. Refund outcomes depend on how far ahead of your trip you cancel and whether something outside your control, like a major Michigan winter storm or a declared natural disaster, affects your travel. The policy is handled at the platform level, so you will not see a host-specific version on each Taylor listing. If life shifts your plans, contact RVezy support and they will walk you through your options before your Michigan RV trip begins.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Taylor RV rental?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Taylor options are easy to find by toggling the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page, and many Downriver hosts welcome dogs with a small cleaning fee. Once you're on the road, Michigan state parks like Sterling State Park in Monroe and Lake Erie Metropark in Brownstown both welcome leashed dogs on trails and in campgrounds, which makes a quick weekend with the pup simple. For in-town stretching, Heritage Park right in Taylor has open green space and walking paths that are perfect before a long drive. Pack a tie-out, a collapsible bowl, and your dog's vaccination records and you're set.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/camping-and-lodgingCan the RV be delivered to me in Taylor instead of picking it up?
Yes, RV delivery Taylor is one of the most popular options on the platform, especially for first-timers who would rather skip driving a big rig through Metro Detroit traffic. Many local hosts will deliver and set up your motorhome or travel trailer right at your campsite at places like Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA in Ypsilanti, Sterling State Park in Monroe, or even a private driveway in the Downriver area. They'll level the rig, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter when you search, then message the host with your destination address to confirm the delivery fee, which is usually based on mileage.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/camping-and-lodgingHow far can I drive on a Taylor RV rental, and is unlimited mileage available?
Mileage is flexible in Taylor because each host sets their own policy, and yes, RV rental with unlimited mileage is available from several Detroit-area hosts, which is ideal if you are planning a long Michigan loop. Many hosts include around 100 to 150 free miles per night and charge roughly $0.30 to $0.50 per extra mile, so a weekend at Sterling State Park 20 miles south barely makes a dent. For longer hauls like a Mackinaw City run (about 280 miles north) or Sleeping Bear Dunes (about 230 miles northwest), filter for unlimited mileage or buy a mileage package upfront from your host to save money.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Taylor%2C%20MichiganWhat are the best campgrounds near Taylor, MI?
You're surrounded by great options for RV camping Taylor travelers love. Sterling State Park in Monroe, about 20 miles south on I-75, is Michigan's only state park on Lake Erie and offers full-hookup sites with paved pads and beach access. Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA in Ypsilanti sits roughly 15 miles west and has full hookups, a pool, and cabins if family is joining you. Wayne County Fairgrounds RV Park in Belleville is just minutes from Taylor with easy I-94 access, and Camp Dearborn in Milford gives you 626 acres with a sandy beach and golf about 30 miles north. Book Sterling early; summer weekends fill six months out.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/camping-and-lodgingWhen is the best time of year for a Taylor RV trip?
Late May through early October is the sweet spot for a Taylor RV trip, with daytime highs from 70 to 85 F and warm Great Lakes evenings perfect for campfires. June and September are the local insider picks: mosquitoes are calmer, campgrounds aren't packed, and Lake Erie is still warm enough for the beach at Sterling State Park. July and August bring peak Michigan summer along with festivals like the Woodward Dream Cruise, so book early if those are on your list. Winter rentals exist for ice-fishing weekends and Detroit Red Wings road trips, but most Michigan state park campgrounds close from November through March.
weather.gov/dtx/I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Taylor?
You will do great. First time renting an RV is the most common scenario for Taylor guests, and every RVezy host gives you an in-person walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, propane, and the dump valves, so you leave knowing how everything works. Taylor is a forgiving place to learn because the streets are wide, the surrounding suburbs are flat, and you can reach I-75, I-94, and I-275 without navigating downtown Detroit. If you are nervous, start with a Class C or a campervan rental in Taylor (easier to drive than a Class A), ask the host to record short reference videos, and plan a shorter first night at a nearby campground like Wayne County Fairgrounds.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Taylor, MI includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the RVezy protection plan, so a flat tire on I-275 or a dead battery at a Lake Erie campground is one phone call away from help. RVezy support is available before, during, and after your trip, and your host is also reachable through in-app messaging if you have a question about a specific system. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave the driveway, snap a photo of the rig's VIN and license plate, and you can relax knowing Michigan's well-mapped highways mean help is rarely far away.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Taylor RV rental into Canada or other states?
Cross-border travel from Taylor is one of the perks of renting here because you're 25 minutes from the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel into Ontario, Canada. Trips to Canada are often allowed but depend on the host and their insurance, so message before booking to confirm and get written approval inside the RVezy app. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because insurance does not extend there. Interstate trips to Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and beyond are generally fine. Bring your passport or enhanced license, your host's permission letter, and a current rabies certificate for any pets crossing into Canada.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat's the best road trip from Taylor in an RV?
An RV road trip from Taylor opens up some of the Midwest's best driving. Head 250 miles northwest to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on Lake Michigan for towering dunes and Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. Drive 280 miles north on I-75 to Mackinaw City and the Mackinac Bridge for ferry rides to Mackinac Island. Loop 90 miles west to Ann Arbor and Irish Hills for vineyards and small-town charm, or cruise 60 miles south to Toledo and Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH (about 90 miles). For a quick getaway, Pinckney Recreation Area is just 50 miles west with lakes, kayaking, and quiet shoreline sites.
nps.gov/slbe/index.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on a Taylor RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to plan for in Michigan because gas prices in the Detroit area tend to run close to the national average, typically $3.20 to $3.80 per gallon for regular. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 10 mpg, campervans 14 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle, usually 9 to 13 mpg combined. For a 500-mile weekend loop (think Taylor to Sleeping Bear Dunes and back), budget roughly $175 to $250 in fuel for a Class C. Fill up at Costco in Taylor or Sam's Club in Southgate before hitting the road; both are reliably cheaper than highway exits.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Taylor?
For Michigan state parks like Sterling State Park, book exactly six months ahead through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reservation system at midnrreservations.com because that's when the booking window opens and popular summer weekends fill within hours. Private parks like Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA and Wayne County Fairgrounds RV Park are usually bookable 2 to 3 months out for summer, less for shoulder season. You'll also need a Michigan Recreation Passport to enter any state park (about $14 for residents annually, $11 daily for non-residents). Pro tip: set a calendar alarm at 8 a.m. exactly six months before Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day weekends.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/camping-and-lodgingWhat are driving conditions like around Taylor, MI?
Driving an RV in Taylor is refreshingly straightforward because the area is flat, the grid is logical, and you have direct freeway access via I-75, I-94, and I-275. Avoid the inner Detroit surface streets and the older parkways like the Davison Freeway where height clearances run lower; stick to the interstates and you'll have no issues with even a tall Class A. Watch for rush hour congestion on I-94 and the I-275 corridor between 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Winter brings lake-effect snow and salt-heavy roads, so cold-weather trips need careful tire checks and a slower pace.
mdotjboss.state.mi.us/MiDrive/mapWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Taylor?
Campgrounds around Taylor cover the full spectrum. At Sterling State Park you get electric hookups, modern restrooms with showers, a dump station, and Lake Erie beach access. Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA offers full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp), Wi-Fi, a pool, and a camp store. Camp Dearborn includes a half-mile sandy beach, golf, and concessions. For dumping and fresh water on the road, most Michigan state parks have free dump stations for registered campers, and Flying J in Monroe (20 minutes south) has 24/7 dump and potable water for around $15. Pack a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 30-amp to 50-amp adapter and you'll be ready anywhere.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/camping-and-lodgingWhat's included inside a typical Taylor RV rental?
Most Taylor RV rentals come ready to camp with real beds (queen in the master plus convertible dinettes or bunks), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof-mounted air conditioning, and a furnace for cool nights. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes also include a generator, multiple TVs, and outdoor speakers. Wi-Fi varies by host; some include a mobile hotspot, others suggest using your phone's hot spot which works well across Wayne County's strong LTE coverage. Every passenger seat has a seatbelt for safe driving. Check the listing's amenity list and message the host if a specific feature, like an outdoor shower or bike rack, matters for your trip.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons can I get with my Taylor RV rental?
You can customize your motorhome rental Taylor with add-ons that make the trip smoother. Common options from local hosts include kitchen kits ($25 to $50 flat fee), bedding and linens ($15 to $30 per bed), generator use ($3 to $5 per hour for off-grid), bike racks, outdoor chairs and tables, propane fire pits, and pet packages. Many hosts offer delivery and setup as an add-on too, priced by mileage from their location. Pickup and dropoff times are typically late morning to early afternoon, and most listings allow flexible windows if you message ahead. Pro tip: bundle add-ons with the same host instead of buying them separately, it's almost always cheaper.
michigan.gov/sos/vehicleHow does payment and the security deposit work on a Taylor rental?
Payment is simple and fully handled inside the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash or a card to the host directly. You will pay the rental total, taxes, fees, and your chosen protection plan at booking with a credit or debit card. A separate security deposit is pre-authorized (held, not charged) on your card a few days before pickup, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig, and it is released after your trip once the host confirms the RV was returned in good shape with the tanks handled per the listing. To avoid issues, take time-stamped photos and a short walkthrough video at pickup and dropoff, then enjoy your trip stress-free.
