Matt was incredible from start to finish. Replies almost immediately to all messages and questions from time of booking, leading up to the trip and during your trip. The RV was immaculate on the outside, the entire cabin, refrigerator, bathrooms, etc. And it came with everything we would need for the trip. Was our first time staying in an RV - Matt showed up promptly when he said he would (even earlier), set up everything for our stay and walked me through everything we needed to know to use and enjoy the RV for a week. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone and would certainly book with him again!

**5 Stars – The Little Ditty Was a Dream!** We had such an amazing experience renting *The Little Ditty*! The RV itself was adorable – clean, cozy, and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable getaway. Whether we were camping by the coast or tucked into the trees, it felt like a perfect little home on wheels. But what truly made this rental stand out were Ryanna & Derek. They were absolutely fantastic from start to finish – incredibly helpful, friendly, and excellent communicators. They walked us through everything clearly, answered all our questions with patience, and made sure we felt completely confident and taken care of. Their kindness and attention to detail really made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. We can’t recommend *The Little Ditty* – and Ryanna & Derek – highly enough. If you’re looking for a unique RV adventure with awesome hosts, this is the one!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Mohawk, NY

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Mohawk, NY?

RV rental in Mohawk, NY is surprisingly affordable, especially compared to coastal New York markets. On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes between $175 and $275 per night, and larger Class A coaches from $250 to $400 per night. Because Mohawk sits in the Mohawk Valley between Utica and Cooperstown, you'll often see better pricing here than near NYC or Lake George. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book to lock in great pricing before Herkimer County Fair week in August fills the calendar.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Mohawk, New York?

Good news: a standard Class D driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Mohawk and drive almost anywhere in New York State. The vast majority of RVs on RVezy, including campervans, travel trailers, and Class C motorhomes, fall well under the 26,000 pound Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) threshold where New York requires an R endorsement. You must be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and your ID is verified through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside your home license. That's it, you're ready to hit Route 5S and start your Mohawk Valley adventure.

Is my RV rental in Mohawk, NY covered if something goes wrong?

Yes, every RV rental in Mohawk booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can explore the Erie Canal corridor with real peace of mind. Protection plans cover qualifying damage to the RV and provide meaningful financial protection during your trip. At checkout you choose the protection level that fits your comfort, it is selected by the renter, not the host. What happens if I need to cancel my Mohawk, NY RV rental?

Booking your Mohawk RV trip is low risk thanks to RVezy's standard cancellation policy, which applies platform-wide rather than being set by individual hosts. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start, and special provisions can apply for qualifying events. Because the policy is consistent across listings, you do not need to compare different cancellation rules the way you would on other sites. Upstate New York weather can shift quickly in shoulder seasons, so it is reassuring to know the process is clear. Contact RVezy support if you ever need help walking through your options.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Mohawk, NY?

Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for a Mohawk RV trip, with each season offering something different. Summer (June through August) brings warm days averaging 75 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit, perfect for Erie Canal cruises and tubing on West Canada Creek. Early fall (mid-September to mid-October) is arguably the best time, with crisp 50 to 65 degree days and Adirondack foliage exploding into color, peaking in late September north of Mohawk. Every host gives you a full orientation at pickup, walking through the generator, awning, water systems, slide-outs, and how to dump tanks. You can also message them anytime during your trip with questions. The roads around Mohawk are forgiving for new drivers: Route 5S along the Mohawk River, Route 28 toward Cooperstown, and I-90 are wide, well-maintained, and not packed with city traffic. If you'd rather not drive at all, choose a host who delivers and sets up. Pro tip: pick a smaller Class C or campervan rental in Mohawk for your first trip, they handle a lot like a large van.

The village sits near Exit 30 of the New York State Thruway (I-90), with Route 5S as the main local artery running east-west along the Mohawk River. Roads are wide, well-graded, and far less crowded than downstate. Heading north on Route 28 toward Old Forge takes you through rolling Adirondack foothills with a few moderate grades but no white-knuckle passes. The biggest seasonal hazard is winter, when November through March can bring heavy snow, so most renters stick to April through October. Pro tip: watch for deer at dawn and dusk on rural stretches near Jordanville and Newport.
