Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Cambridge, OH
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Cambridge, OH?
RV rental in Cambridge, OH is one of the most affordable ways to explore eastern Ohio's lake country. Most travel trailers on RVezy range from about $90 to $160 per night, while Class C motorhomes typically run $175 to $280 per night, and luxury Class A rigs go higher. To score a cheap RV rental in Cambridge, book midweek (Sunday through Thursday), avoid the peak Salt Fork summer weekends, and look for listings offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: shoulder months like late April and mid-October bring stunning Guernsey County scenery at noticeably lower nightly rates, so you can stretch your budget while enjoying the rolling Appalachian foothills.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/salt-fork-state-parkDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Cambridge, OH?
Good news: Ohio does not require a special license or CDL to drive a recreational vehicle for personal use, even larger Class A motorhomes. A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Cambridge. On RVezy, the primary driver must be 25 or older with a valid driver's license, which is quickly confirmed through the platform when you book. Visiting from outside the United States? Bring your home country license along with an International Driving Permit before you arrive and you are set for your Cambridge RV trip.

You choose your protection level at checkout, with options that scale coverage for physical damage to the RV during your trip. Roadside assistance is bundled with every protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, lockouts, and battery jumps. Pick the package that fits your comfort and budget during booking, and head into Guernsey County knowing you are looked after from pickup to drop-off.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if my plans change? Can I cancel my Cambridge RV rental?
Yes, you can cancel, and RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy so it stays consistent and fair across every listing. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date, and the full policy details are available on the RVezy Help Center before you confirm. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credit so your plans are protected. Book your Cambridge RV trip with confidence, and reach out to RVezy support directly if your plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Cambridge, OH?
Absolutely, four-legged road trippers are welcome on many Cambridge RV adventures. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental in Cambridge, and message the host first to confirm any pet fees or rules. Once you arrive, your dog will love Salt Fork State Park, which has miles of leashed trails plus a designated dog beach with lake access, the only one of its kind in the Ohio state park system. Hillview Acres Campground in Cambridge also welcomes pets at most sites. Pack a leash, vaccination records, and plenty of water for warm Ohio summer afternoons.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/salt-fork-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to a campground near Cambridge?
Yes, RV delivery Cambridge is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who would rather skip the drive. Many hosts will deliver your motorhome or travel trailer straight to Salt Fork State Park Campground, Spring Valley Campground on Dozer Road, Wolf Run State Park, or even Seneca Lake Park, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. Just filter listings by Delivery, enter your campground address, and review each host's delivery radius and fee. Pro tip: book delivery to Salt Fork and your vacation starts the moment you arrive, no backing into a site required.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/salt-fork-state-parkHow far can I drive on a Cambridge RV road trip?
Cambridge is perfectly positioned at the crossroads of I-70 and I-77, which means a huge swath of the Midwest and Appalachians is in easy reach. Columbus is about 80 miles west (1.5 hours), Pittsburgh is roughly 110 miles east (2 hours), Cleveland sits 130 miles north (2.5 hours), and Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio's most photographed natural attraction, is about 110 miles southwest (2.5 hours). Amish Country around Berlin and Millersburg is just an hour north. Many hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage or generous daily allowances, so always check the mileage policy on the listing and message the host if you have a longer route in mind.
transportation.ohio.gov/programs/bywaysWhere are the best campgrounds near Cambridge, OH?
The best campgrounds near Cambridge sit within a 15-minute drive of downtown. Salt Fork State Park Campground, just six miles north off I-77 Exit 47, has 212 sites with electric hookups and about 40 full-hookup sites surrounding Ohio's largest lake. Spring Valley Campground on Dozer Road offers full hookups, a pool, and family-friendly amenities. Wolf Run State Park near Caldwell features quieter waterfront sites on a 1,000-acre park. Hillview Acres Campground on Wolfs Den Road and Seneca Lake Park in Senecaville round out the favorites. Reserve Salt Fork through reserveohio.com up to six months in advance, especially for summer holiday weekends.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/salt-fork-state-parkWhen is the best time for RV camping in Cambridge, OH?
Late April through late October is prime time for RV camping Cambridge, with the absolute sweet spots being mid-May to mid-June (wildflowers, mild 70s) and late September through mid-October when Guernsey County's rolling hills explode into orange and gold. Summer days average 82 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit with warm evenings, perfect for swimming at Salt Fork's 2,500-foot sandy beach. Winter brings 30s and occasional snow, but Salt Fork Campground stays open year-round for hardy adventurers who want quiet trails and ice fishing. Local insider tip: visit in early November for the Dickens Victorian Village celebration in downtown Cambridge, a unique seasonal experience.
weather.gov/iln/I'm a first-time renter. Will I be able to handle driving an RV around Cambridge?
You've got this, and Cambridge is actually a fantastic place to learn. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup that covers driving, leveling, hookups, the generator, and dump procedures, so you are never left guessing. The roads around Cambridge are friendly to new RVers: I-70 and I-77 are wide and well-maintained, and the route to Salt Fork State Park is a straight six-mile shot up Route 22 with no tight turns. Start with a Class C motorhome or travel trailer if it's your first time renting an RV, message the host with any pre-trip questions, and you'll be cruising confidently by day two.
transportation.ohio.gov/What happens if I have a breakdown during my Cambridge RV trip?
You are covered 24/7. Every RVezy booking includes round-the-clock roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on State Route 22 or a dead battery at Wolf Run is one phone call from help. Your host is also a message away through the RVezy app, and most Cambridge-area hosts know which local mechanics and tire shops can service motorhomes. Save the roadside number in your phone before pickup, snap a photo of the RV's VIN, and you can relax and enjoy your Cambridge RV trip knowing professional help is always close by.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Cambridge RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is standard and most hosts welcome it, which makes Cambridge a great launchpad for an RV road trip from Cambridge. Pittsburgh, the West Virginia mountains, and Ohio Amish Country are all within two hours, and longer routes to the Smoky Mountains or Niagara Falls are very doable. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and insurance coverage, so message the host through the listing before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Share your planned route with the host so they can confirm everything is good to go.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas costs should I budget for?
Plan smart and your fuel budget stays reasonable. Class C motorhomes around Cambridge typically deliver 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans get 16 to 20 MPG, and a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer averages 10 to 14 MPG. Gas prices in Guernsey County usually run a bit below the national average, with stations clustered around I-77 Exit 47 and the Southgate Parkway corridor in Cambridge. A round trip from Cambridge to Hocking Hills (about 220 miles) costs roughly $55 to $75 in fuel for a Class C. Fill up in town before heading to Salt Fork; the nearest gas station to the campground is about 20 minutes away.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Cambridge?
For Salt Fork State Park, book the moment your dates open. Reservations through reserveohio.com open at 7 a.m. exactly six months in advance, and prime summer weekends and fall-foliage weekends in October fill within hours. For midweek summer stays or shoulder-season trips, two to four weeks ahead is usually enough. Private parks like Spring Valley Campground and Hillview Acres are typically more flexible and often have last-minute openings. Pro tip: if Salt Fork shows fully booked, set up a free cancellation alert on Reserve Ohio, since campers cancel daily and waterfront sites pop back open more often than you would expect.
reserveohio.com/OhioCampWeb/What are the local driving conditions like around Cambridge?
Driving an RV around Cambridge is refreshingly stress-free for the Midwest. The two main arteries, I-70 (east-west) and I-77 (north-south), meet right at Cambridge and are flat, wide, and easy to navigate even in a 30-foot motorhome. The roads to Salt Fork and Wolf Run are paved two-lanes with gentle Appalachian foothill curves, no extreme grades or hairpin turns. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk on rural routes like SR 22 and SR 285, and slow down for occasional Amish horse-and-buggy traffic if you venture north toward Holmes County. Winter can bring snow squalls off Lake Erie, so check Ohio's OHGO traffic site before December through March trips.
ohgo.com/What amenities will I find at Cambridge-area campgrounds?
Cambridge-area campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable RV stay. Salt Fork State Park Campground offers 212 sites with electric (50- and 30-amp), about 40 full-hookup sites with water and sewer, heated shower houses, a dump station, a camp store, a sandy swim beach, and two marinas. Spring Valley Campground has full hookups, a pool, and laundry. Wolf Run State Park provides electric sites and a dump station. Public dump stations and potable water fills are available at Salt Fork's main entrance. Pro tip: fill your fresh-water tank before you arrive at primitive loops, and bring a 25-foot sewer hose and a surge protector, two items that make any campsite easier.

Most listings include a TV, many offer onboard generators for boondocking, and some include Wi-Fi hotspots, great for staying connected at Salt Fork where cell service can be spotty. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Cambridge%2C%20OhioHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and fully handled through the RVezy platform, with no cash or side deals with the host. You pay your trip total securely by credit card when you book, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup, separate from your booking payment. The hold is released after drop-off, typically within a few business days, assuming the RV comes back in the same condition it left. To avoid surprises, take time-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, follow the host's cleaning and fuel instructions, and message any concerns through the app so everything is documented.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the must-do road trip destinations from Cambridge, OH?
A Cambridge RV trip puts you within easy reach of Ohio's greatest hits. Hocking Hills State Park (about 110 miles, 2.5 hours southwest) delivers Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, and Cedar Falls. Amish Country around Berlin and Millersburg is just 60 miles north (under 1.5 hours) for buggy rides and cheese factories. The Wilds safari park in Cumberland is only 25 miles south, a unique day trip with rhinos and giraffes. Roscoe Village in Coshocton (35 miles northwest) offers a restored canal-era town, and Pittsburgh sits 110 miles east. Local insider tip: take Ohio's National Road (US 40) instead of I-70 for a slower, scenic drive past historic S-bridges built in the 1820s.
