"Story" was a great RV and Joshua was an amazing host. This was our first time traveling in an RV and Joshua was very patient in answering all of our questions. He provided a very thorough orientation. The RV was fully equipped with everything we needed including kitchen/bath items, camping chairs, linens, etc. Everything was clean, well maintained, and exactly as described. We were able to boondock without any issues. Communication with Joshua was amazing and I highly recommend this rental.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in West Alexander, PA
How much does an RV rental in West Alexander, PA cost?
RV rental in West Alexander typically ranges from about $90 to $250 per night, with travel trailers on the lower end and Class A motorhomes on the higher end. Because West Alexander sits right at the Pennsylvania/West Virginia line off Interstate 70 (I-70), you'll often find better value here than booking out of Pittsburgh, just 40 minutes east. To save more, book midweek, target shoulder seasons like late April or September, and use the price filter on RVezy to set your nightly budget. Pro tip: hosts in nearby Washington, Claysville, and Wheeling often offer multi-night discounts for stays of 5+ days, which is perfect for exploring the rolling hills of Greene and Washington counties.
visitwashingtoncountypa.com/places-to-stay/campgrounds-and-rv-parks/Do I need a special license to rent an RV in West Alexander, PA?
Good news: your regular Class C driver's license is all you need for nearly every RV on RVezy in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania State Police only require a non-commercial Class B license if a single vehicle has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, and a Class A for heavy combination rigs, which covers only the largest motorhomes, not the campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers most renters choose. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right in the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? An International Driving Permit paired with your home license keeps you road-ready.
pa.gov/agencies/psp/resources/safety-resources/license-classes-non-commercialWhat protection and roadside help is included with my West Alexander RV rental?
Every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit I-70 with peace of mind. You choose your protection level at checkout (not the host), and it covers physical damage to the RV during your trip up to the plan limits. If a tire blows on Route 40 outside Claysville or you need a tow near the West Virginia line, one call to RVezy roadside dispatches help, day or night. That built-in safety net is one reason first-time renters feel confident booking a motorhome rental in West Alexander.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my West Alexander RV trip?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets a platform-wide cancellation policy (not the host), and there is a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund amounts depend on how far out you are from your trip start date, and the policy includes provisions for situations like host cancellations. Because the policy is standardized, you will not see different cancellation rules on each listing. Pro tip: book early to secure the best West Alexander RV rental inventory for summer weekends, knowing you have a window to adjust if plans change.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in West Alexander?
Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in West Alexander is easy to find: toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see hosts who welcome four-legged co-pilots. Pennsylvania State Parks allow leashed pets in designated pet-friendly loops at many campgrounds, including nearby Ryerson Station State Park in Wind Ridge (about 45 minutes south) and trails at Hillman State Park. Cross Creek County Park has open fields perfect for a stretch break. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and cleanup expectations, many are dog owners themselves and happy to share local walking spots.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/PlanYourVisit/Pages/PetsInParks.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in West Alexander?
Yes, RV delivery in West Alexander is one of the most popular options, especially for first-timers who would rather skip driving a big rig down I-70. Many local hosts will deliver to nearby campgrounds like Washington/Pittsburgh SW KOA Holiday in Washington or Pine Cove Beach Club and RV Resort, then level the rig, hook up water and electric, and walk you through every system before they leave. Just filter by Delivery on RVezy, enter your destination address, and the listing will show the delivery fee upfront. It is the easiest way to do a stress-free West Alexander RV trip, just show up and start the campfire.
koa.com/campgrounds/washington-pittsburgh/How far can I drive on a West Alexander RV rental, and is unlimited mileage available?

From West Alexander you can reach Pittsburgh in about 45 minutes, Ohiopyle State Park in 2 hours, Seneca Rocks, WV in around 3.5 hours, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park in roughly 2.5 hours. Pro tip: if you are planning a longer RV road trip from West Alexander, filter for unlimited-mileage listings first to keep your budget predictable.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=West%20Alexander%2C%20PennsylvaniaWhere are the best campgrounds near West Alexander, PA?
You are spoiled for choice. Washington/Pittsburgh SW KOA Holiday in Washington (about 20 minutes east) is big-rig friendly with a pool, pull-throughs, and full hookups. Ryerson Station State Park in Wind Ridge offers wooded sites, a lake, and electric hookups bookable through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system. Raccoon Creek State Park near Hookstown adds a beach, hiking, and shaded loops. For something quieter, family-run parks tucked along Route 40 in Washington County keep things peaceful and creekside. Pennsylvania State Parks can be reserved up to 11 months ahead, and summer weekends fill fast.
koa.com/campgrounds/washington-pittsburgh/When is the best time to take a West Alexander RV trip?
Late May through early October is prime time for RV camping in West Alexander, with average daytime highs climbing from the upper 60s°F in May to mid-80s°F in July and a comfortable 70s°F in September. Spring brings blooming dogwoods and quiet campgrounds; fall is the local favorite, with Appalachian foothill foliage typically peaking mid to late October and many campgrounds offering shoulder-season pricing. Winters are cold (lows in the 20s°F) and many private campgrounds close November through March. Insider tip: book the second weekend of October early for the best leaf-peeping drives along Route 40, the historic National Road.
weather.gov/pbz/I have never rented an RV before. What should I expect?
First time renting an RV? You will feel like a pro by the end of your walkthrough. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup covering the propane stove, tank dumping, leveling, generator, and awning, and you will have their phone number for the whole trip. From West Alexander, start with something forgiving like a Class C motorhome or a 20 to 25 foot travel trailer; the rolling I-70 corridor and Route 40 are excellent for getting your bearings. Pro tip: ask your host about delivery and setup at a nearby campground so your first night is purely about s'mores, not setup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in West Alexander includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the RVezy protection plan, so a flat tire, dead battery, lockout, or mechanical hiccup is just one phone call away. Your host is also typically reachable by message or phone for quick questions like how to switch the fridge to propane, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before you leave the driveway, and snap a photo of your rig's VIN and license plate to speed up dispatch if you need help along I-70 or rural Route 40.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trip destinations from West Alexander, PA?
West Alexander is a fantastic launch pad for an RV road trip. Pittsburgh sits about 40 miles east (around 45 minutes) for city food and ballgames. Ohiopyle State Park and Fallingwater are roughly 2 hours east for whitewater and Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. Wheeling, WV is just 15 minutes south for Oglebay Park and riverfront fun. Seneca Rocks and Spruce Knob in West Virginia are about 3.5 hours south for dramatic Appalachian scenery, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio is around 2.5 hours northwest. Cross-border tip: travel into West Virginia and Ohio is generally fine with your rental, confirm with the host; travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy.
nps.gov/cuva/index.htmHow should I budget for fuel on a West Alexander RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable, but it is easy to plan for. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, with diesel often higher still, so check current rates before you go. Expect roughly 8-10 MPG from a Class A, 10-14 MPG from a Class C, 15-20 MPG from a campervan, and 12-16 MPG from a truck towing a travel trailer. A 200-mile loop from West Alexander to Ohiopyle and back in a Class C will typically run around $60-$90 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up just over the West Virginia line off I-70 where prices are often a few cents cheaper, and use a fuel-price app to spot the best stations in Washington, PA before you head out.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near West Alexander?
For Pennsylvania State Parks like Ryerson Station and Raccoon Creek, you can reserve up to 11 months in advance through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system, which is exactly what locals do for July 4th, Labor Day, and peak October foliage weekends. Private parks like Washington/Pittsburgh SW KOA Holiday usually book 2-4 weeks ahead for summer weekends but often have midweek openings. Insider tip: if a state park is full, check the reservation site's cancellation list a week out, last-minute openings pop up daily. And if you are stuck, ask your RVezy host, many know small RV parks along Route 40 that do not show up on the big booking sites.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the local driving conditions like around West Alexander?
Driving an RV around West Alexander is very manageable. Interstate 70 runs right through town with wide lanes and gentle grades, making it ideal for first-time RVers heading east to Washington or west into Wheeling. Expect rolling hills, some winding sections on Route 40 (the historic National Road), and a few steeper grades if you venture south toward Greene County or into West Virginia's panhandle. Winter brings occasional snow and ice from December through March, so most renters stick to April through October. Pro tip: avoid downtown Pittsburgh tunnels (Fort Pitt and Squirrel Hill) in a tall Class A during rush hour; loop via I-79 and the Parkway West for a smoother ride.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near West Alexander?
Most campgrounds near West Alexander offer the essentials and then some. Washington/Pittsburgh SW KOA Holiday provides full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer), a pool, propane refills, a camp store, laundry, and Wi-Fi. State parks like Ryerson Station and Raccoon Creek typically provide electric hookups, potable water fills, modern restrooms with hot showers, and a centralized dump station rather than full hookups at every site. Pro tip: top off fresh water and dump tanks before you leave the campground, and grab propane in Washington, PA at a Tractor Supply or U-Haul if you need a refill mid-trip.
koa.com/campgrounds/washington-pittsburgh/What is included inside an RV rental in West Alexander?
You will find more than you expect. Most West Alexander RV rentals come fully equipped: real beds with mattresses (sleeping 2-8 depending on size), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and basic cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with air conditioning and furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many hosts add TVs, Wi-Fi hotspots, generators, outdoor speakers, and even Starlink for streaming under the stars. Campervans are perfect for couples, Class C motorhomes shine for families of 4-6, and travel trailers max out space for the price. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities tab and message the host to confirm linens, towels, and a kitchen kit are included, many hosts bundle them free.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=West%20Alexander%2C%20PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
RVezy hosts in West Alexander offer great add-ons to customize your trip: delivery and setup (often priced per mile from the host's location), generator use, bike racks, camping chairs, propane fire pits, bedding and kitchen kits, and even paddleboards for nearby Cross Creek Lake. Pickup is usually at the host's home or a mutually agreed meeting spot, with a 30-60 minute walkthrough included. Mileage policies vary by host (commonly 100-150 free miles per night), and pricing is shown upfront on the listing. Pro tip: book delivery to a nearby campground like Washington/Pittsburgh SW KOA so you can skip the drive and start your West Alexander RV getaway by the campfire.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=West%20Alexander%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, so your booking is protected from the moment you confirm. A refundable security deposit (amount set by the host and shown on the listing, commonly several hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after your trip ends, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. Walk through the rig with your host at pickup and drop-off, take photos inside and out, and note any pre-existing scuffs. Pro tip: clean up, return with the same fuel and propane level, and dump the tanks before drop-off, your deposit comes back faster every time.
