2026 Forest River Travel Trailer
Tina was exceptionally nice from the very first phone call. My husband and I had never rented a RV before, and she was very helpful with all of our many questions. The RV was extremely clean, stocked, and very comfortable for our stay. We were very pleased with the layout of the RV, it worked for our group of 4 with plenty of room. Tina came and set up our RV and had it ready before we even got there! That was wonderful and convenient. She’s such a nice person, and very easy to talk to. She made us feel very welcome! If we were ever to rent a RV again for a family vacation we would definitely contact Tina again for that. All in all.. we had the best experience with her.

Lloyd and Kristy were exceptional. In addition to providing a well-maintained RV equipped with all the necessary amenities, they paid attention to every detail of our journey to make it as easy and comfortable as possible—especially considering we were a Brazilian group. More than just hosts, I believe we now have friends in Tennessee. I recommend renting from them with complete confidence; anyone lucky enough to have them as hosts is truly fortunate.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lafayette%2C%20TennesseeDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Lafayette, TN?
Your everyday driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Lafayette. Tennessee does not require a Commercial Driver License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for motorhomes or trailers used recreationally. To book on RVezy you must be at least 25 years old with a valid driver's license, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking. Visiting from another country? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP). Most first-time renters are surprised at how simple it is: complete your booking, upload your ID, and your host will handle the rest at pickup in Macon County.

You are covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Lafayette through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the back roads of Macon County with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV and provides financial protection that goes well beyond a standard rental agreement. During checkout, you choose the coverage level that fits your trip, with options that scale based on how much protection you want. It is designed to take the worry out of your first Tennessee RV trip so you can focus on the lake, the scenery, and the music.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if my plans change after I book my Lafayette RV rental?
Booking your Lafayette RV trip is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy centrally (not individual hosts), and every booking includes a money-back grace period right after you confirm, so you have breathing room if plans shift. Beyond that window, refund amounts depend on how far out your trip is. You do not need to dig through each listing for policy details: the process is handled by RVezy, and the support team is available before, during, and after every trip. That makes locking in an early summer Cordell Hull weekend a pretty easy yes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Lafayette, TN RV trip?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental in Lafayette is easy to find. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to narrow listings to hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Many owners charge a small pet fee of about $25 to $75 per trip, listed transparently on the listing. Once you are on the road, Bledsoe Creek State Park near Gallatin allows leashed pets on trails and at campsites, and Long Hunter State Park near Nashville does too. The downtown Lafayette square is also great for an easy evening stroll. Tip: message the host to confirm any breed or size notes before you book.
tnstateparks.com/parks/bledsoe-creekCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Lafayette?
Yes, and it is the easiest way to start an RV trip. Many Lafayette area hosts offer RV delivery in Lafayette and surrounding Macon County, dropping the rig at your campsite, family farm, or private driveway. They will level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through everything from the awning to the generator before they leave. Delivery fees are set by the host and typically scale with distance. Popular drop spots include Defeated Creek Campground near Carthage and Bledsoe Creek State Park near Gallatin. To find delivery-ready listings, toggle the Delivery filter. It is a stress-free way to take your first Tennessee RV trip without ever towing or driving the rig yourself.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lafayette%2C%20TennesseeHow far can I travel on a Lafayette RV rental, and is there unlimited mileage?
You have plenty of road to explore. Mileage policies are set by each host, but many Lafayette listings include around 100 to 150 free miles per night, with additional miles priced per mile. Some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for longer Tennessee road trips. From Lafayette you are roughly 65 miles to Nashville, 90 miles to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky, 120 miles to Chattanooga, and about 220 miles to the Great Smoky Mountains gateway at Pigeon Forge. Filter by mileage allowance, or message the host to arrange a custom package if you are planning a long loop.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lafayette%2C%20TennesseeWhere are the best campgrounds near Lafayette, TN?
You are spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Lafayette sit along the lakes and rolling hills of Middle Tennessee. Bledsoe Creek State Park near Gallatin offers lakefront sites with electric and water hookups along Old Hickory Lake. Defeated Creek Campground near Carthage is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park on Cordell Hull Lake with hookups and a swim beach. Salt Lick Creek Campground, also on Cordell Hull, is quieter and great for stargazing. Long Hunter State Park, about an hour southwest, is another scenic option. Tip: most state and Corps sites can be booked through Recreation.gov or the Tennessee State Parks reservation system.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/234032When is the best time to take an RV trip from Lafayette, TN?
Lafayette enjoys Middle Tennessee's four-season climate, so your window is wide. April through early June and mid-September through October are the prime months, with daytime highs in the 70s, cool nights in the 50s, and great fall color across the Highland Rim. July and August are warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, ideal for lake days at Cordell Hull but bring a rig with strong AC. Winters are mild but variable, with January highs around the upper 40s. Tip: plan an October Lafayette RV trip to catch small-town autumn festivals plus peak leaf-peeping along Highway 52.
weather.gov/ohx/I have never rented an RV before. How does this work in Lafayette?
First time renting an RV? You will love how supported the process is. Your Lafayette host will meet you at pickup (or at your campsite if you choose delivery) and give you a full walkthrough: how to operate the slides, awning, water system, generator, and dump valves. Most orientations run 30 to 45 minutes, and you can ask anything. Before booking, you can message any host directly with questions about their specific rig. Once you are rolling, 24/7 roadside assistance included with your protection plan is just a phone call away. Tip: pick a Class C motorhome for your first trip; they drive like a large van and are common in the Lafayette area.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Lafayette includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If a slide-out sticks or the fridge stops cooling, you can also call your host directly: they know the rig inside and out and often troubleshoot in minutes. RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after every trip. Tip: cell coverage is solid throughout Macon County and along I-40 east toward Cookeville but can dip in some hollers near the Kentucky border, so screenshot key directions before you leave Lafayette.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Lafayette RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Lafayette is one of the best ways to see the South. Most Lafayette hosts welcome travel throughout the continental U.S., so you can easily roll into Kentucky (the state line is just a short drive north), Virginia, the Carolinas, or down to the Gulf Coast. Travel into Canada is sometimes allowed but requires host approval and confirmation of cross-border coverage, so message the host before booking. Travel to Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Popular routes from Lafayette include the run to Mammoth Cave National Park, the Bourbon Trail through Bardstown, and the scenic drive east to the Great Smoky Mountains.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for a Lafayette RV trip?
Budgeting is simple once you know the rough numbers. Class C motorhomes and travel trailers pulled by a half-ton truck typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A motorhomes are closer to 6 to 9 mpg, and campervans (Class B) can hit 16 to 20 mpg. Tennessee gas prices generally run near or slightly below the national average, and diesel is usually a bit higher than regular unleaded. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan for a fuel budget of roughly $100 to $160 depending on current prices. Tip: fill up at the stations along Highway 52 in Lafayette before heading to Cordell Hull, as prices can climb at lake-area pumps.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Lafayette?
The earlier the better, especially for summer weekends. Tennessee State Parks like Bledsoe Creek open reservations through the official Tennessee State Parks reservation system up to 12 months in advance, and prime lakefront sites for Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends often book within hours of release. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds like Defeated Creek and Salt Lick Creek on Cordell Hull Lake book through Recreation.gov up to six months out. Private parks near Lafayette are usually more flexible, often available one to two weeks out. Tip: for a spontaneous Lafayette RV trip, target Sunday-through-Wednesday stays. You will find open lakeside sites even in July, and rates are lower.
tnstateparks.com/about/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Lafayette, TN?
Driving an RV around Lafayette is refreshingly easy. The terrain is gently rolling Highland Rim country, not steep mountain grades, and Highway 52 plus State Route 10 are well-maintained two-lane roads with good visibility. I-40 to the south and I-65 to the west connect you smoothly to bigger destinations. Summer afternoons can bring quick thunderstorms, so check radar before long drives, and watch for occasional fog in the hollers on cool mornings. Winter ice is rare but possible in January and February. Tip: avoid downtown Nashville with anything over 30 feet during rush hour; instead, park outside the core and take rideshare or transit in for the day.
tn.gov/tdot/driver-how-do-i/driving-conditions.htmlWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Lafayette?
You will find a great range. State parks like Bledsoe Creek and Corps campgrounds like Defeated Creek offer paved or gravel pads with 30/50-amp electric, water hookups, picnic tables, fire rings, hot showers, flush restrooms, and on-site dump stations. Full sewer hookups are less common at public campgrounds but more common at private parks. Most lake campgrounds in the region have potable water fill stations near the entrance and a centralized dump station you can use on the way out. WiFi can be hit or miss at public sites but is generally more reliable at private parks. Tip: top off your fresh water tank in Lafayette before heading to Defeated Creek, as the dump-and-fill line on Sunday checkouts can get backed up.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/234032What is actually inside the RVs I can rent in Lafayette?
More than you might expect. A typical motorhome rental in Lafayette comes fully equipped: queen or king bed, kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, sink, indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette that converts to extra sleeping space, roof AC, propane furnace, and a flat-screen TV. Most also include a generator (great for off-grid lake camping), seatbelts for everyone listed on the booking, and an awning. Travel trailers offer similar layouts at a lower nightly price. Many hosts include kitchen kits with pots, dishes, and coffee makers, and some toss in camping chairs and outdoor mats. Tip: check the listing's amenities section for solar panels or lithium batteries if you are heading to a no-hookup Corps site on Cordell Hull.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lafayette%2C%20TennesseeWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for a Lafayette RV rental?
Customizing your trip is half the fun. Lafayette hosts often offer popular add-ons like bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, camping chair bundles, generators, bike racks, and propane refills, with prices shown on the listing. Standard pickup is at the host's location in or near Lafayette, with check-in typically in the afternoon and return in the late morning. Delivery to local campgrounds, Nashville BNA airport, or your driveway is available from many listings for a per-mile fee. Mileage allowances vary by host. Tip: use the Instant Book filter to find listings you can lock in immediately, ideal when a Cordell Hull Lake site opens up last minute.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lafayette%2C%20TennesseeHow does payment and the security deposit work for a Lafayette RV rental?
It is straightforward and secure. When you book your RV rental in Lafayette, you pay the full trip cost through the RVezy platform: no cash, checks, or off-platform transfers, which keeps you protected. A separate refundable security deposit is held in connection with your booking, with the amount set on each listing, and it is released back to your card after the trip as long as the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid any hiccups, take date-stamped photos at pickup and dropoff, document fuel and propane levels, and respect the mileage and generator allowance. Tip: ask your Lafayette host about their preferred dump and fuel-up routine on return day; following their flow keeps your deposit refund quick and clean.
