Our first time camping in a Travel Trailer/RV and what an awesome experience! The trailer was amazing and comfortable for hubby & I; equipped with essentials —more than expected. Ricardo delivered, set up and picked up as requested, even making an extra trip to deliver 2 items we requested. Our host Ricardo made this a perfect 1st experience by his friendly communications and patience with all my questions & changes. I hope to do business with him again next year! As you can see in our pictures, I was able to cook a full breakfast. The oven/stove, refrig/freeze were just the perfect size as well as the restroom; most of all cold blowing a/c😊. The awning provided great shade for hubby as he BBQ a few feet away from trailer. May God continue to bless you Ricardo🙏🏾

Brett is an amazing host, and the experience greatly exceeded expectations. Brett assisted with the hookup and went above and beyond to get us going. The towing was extremely easy, but recommend a truck if you're going to be taking it any distance. You'll also need the circular wiring connector. The RV itself was amazing. In my opinion the photos don't do it justice, and the set up is perfect. Brett configured us for dry camping with no hookups, and everything worked exactly like you'd want it. The batteries give you a bit of power for lights and fans if you don't have the generator going, and the generator was very easy to hookup. We didn't need to use the AC, but it seemed extremely good. The generator Brett has as an addon for the rental was very nice -- small enough to move around easily, and it has an electric start, so no pulling required. The bed was very comfortable and long enough for a 6'2" guy. Everything was clean and well maintained, and all of the chocks/cables/hoses were easy to access. We also didn't end up using the bathroom much, but it's a full shower/toilet and was much nicer and larger than expected. On a longer trip it would work great. Small detail, but the blackout shades were amazing for sleeping in. I highly recommend considering this option for your RV rental -- don't be put off by the teardrop shape, it's very roomy inside, extremely modern, and it has everything you need for a great trip. I wasn't towing it for a long distance, but I imagine the fuel savings due to the streamlined shape would add up. I will absolutely be renting again the next time I'm in the area.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Cameron, TX?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Cameron for almost every rig on the RVezy platform. Texas only requires a non-commercial Class A or B license if the RV's gross weight exceeds 26,000 pounds, which is rare for typical rentals like Class C motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers. Absolutely, RV delivery Cameron is one of the most popular options on the platform, especially for first-timers. You've got great options for RV camping Cameron travelers rave about. Lake Somerville State Park (Birch Creek and Nails Creek units, about 40 minutes south) offers full-hookup sites, fishing, and the Trailway hiking system. Wilson H Fox Park on Lake Belton (about 50 minutes northwest) has waterfront sites managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Closer to town, Nomad Villages Cameron on N. Travis Avenue and Shady Grove RV Park provide full hookups within city limits. Granger Lake's Taylor Park is another quiet option about 30 miles west. Pro tip: best campgrounds near Cameron book fast for spring wildflower season, so reserve at least 2-3 months ahead through Texas State Parks or Recreation.gov.

When is the best time to take an RV trip from Cameron, TX?

Cameron's sweet spot is mid-March through May and again from late September through early November, when daytime highs are a comfortable 70 to 85°F and Central Texas wildflowers (bluebonnets in April!) blanket the roadsides. Winters are mild with highs in the 55 to 65°F range, making December and January great for snowbird trips and quiet campgrounds. Summers from June through August regularly hit 95 to 100°F-plus, so look for RVs with strong dual A/C and plan early-morning drives. Pro tip: time your visit for the second Saturday in October to catch Cameron's Steak, Stein & Wine Fest with 44 Farms downtown, a true Hometown Texas highlight.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Cameron?

You've got this, and you won't be doing it alone. Every host on RVezy gives you a full orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, hookups, slide-outs, the generator, and the bathroom systems before you ever leave the driveway. Cameron is an ideal first time renting an RV destination because the surrounding US-77 and US-190 highways are wide, flat, and lightly trafficked compared to Austin or Houston. You can message your host any time during the trip with questions, and RVezy's 24/7 support has your back too. Pro tip: do a short practice loop around the Wilson-Ledbetter Park area before heading out on Highway 36 to build confidence.

Can I take my Cameron RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?

You're free to roam across the United States on your Cameron RV rental, so a road trip from Cameron to New Mexico's White Sands, Louisiana's Cajun Country, or up through Oklahoma is fair game with most hosts. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage doesn't extend across the border. Always confirm out-of-state plans with your host through the listing's message tool before booking, since some owners cap mileage or set route preferences. Pro tip: popular RV road trip from Cameron routes include the Texas Hill Country wine loop (Fredericksburg/Llano, about 2.5 hours) and the Gulf Coast via Galveston (about 3 hours).
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-go

What kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and how do I budget?

Plan smart and you'll keep your Cameron RV trip affordable. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A coaches 6 to 10 mpg, campervans 15 to 20 mpg, and trucks towing travel trailers about 10 to 14 mpg. Texas has some of the cheapest gas in the country, and Cameron's local stations (Brookshire Brothers, Stripes on US-77) usually run 20 to 40 cents under the national average. For a typical 4-day, 400-mile loop through Lake Somerville and back, budget roughly $130 to $200 for fuel in a Class C. Pro tip: fuel up in Cameron or Rockdale before heading toward Lake Belton, where prices climb closer to I-35.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground near Cameron?

For the most popular spots, book 3 to 5 months ahead, especially for spring and fall weekends. Texas state parks like Lake Somerville (Birch Creek and Nails Creek units) take reservations up to 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks & Wildlife reservation system, and bluebonnet-season weekends in April sell out fast. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks at Lake Belton and Granger Lake book through Recreation.gov, also up to 6 months out. Private parks like Nomad Villages Cameron and Shady Grove are easier to snag last-minute. Pro tip: if state parks are full, search Recreation.gov for nearby Corps of Engineers sites, often quieter and right on the water.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/reservations

What are local driving conditions like around Cameron?

Driving around Cameron is refreshingly easy compared to most Texas destinations. The town sits on flat-to-gently-rolling Blackland Prairie terrain, and the main routes (US-77, US-190, and TX-36) are wide two-lane highways with light traffic and generous shoulders, perfect for a motorhome rental Cameron drivers can relax in. Watch for occasional deer at dawn and dusk along farm-to-market roads, and be aware that thunderstorms can bring sudden crosswinds in spring. Avoid driving large rigs through narrow downtown side streets around the Milam County Courthouse square. Pro tip: if you're heading to Austin (about 75 miles southwest), take US-79 through Taylor instead of fighting I-35 traffic for a smoother RV-friendly route.
txdot.gov/about/programs/traffic-incident-management.html

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Cameron?

Most campgrounds near Cameron come well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Lake Somerville State Park offers full hookups (water, electric, sewer) at Birch Creek, plus dump stations, potable water fill-ups, restrooms with showers, and a swim beach. Wilson H Fox at Lake Belton has 30/50-amp electric and water hookups with a centralized dump station. In-town options like Nomad Villages Cameron provide full hookups, Wi-Fi, and laundry. If you need to dump or refill water mid-trip, the Lake Somerville dump station is open year-round to day users for a small fee. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot freshwater hose and a 30-to-50 amp adapter to cover any hookup combination you encounter.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/lake-somerville-birch-creek/fees-facilities

What will be inside my Cameron RV rental?

Expect a well-equipped home on wheels. Most Cameron RV rentals come with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or bunk beds (great for family RV trip Cameron adventures), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, plus a bathroom with toilet and shower. Air conditioning is standard and essential for Texas summers, and many rigs include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and a generator or solar setup for off-grid stays at El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail sites. Seatbelt counts vary, so always confirm the host's listed sleeps and seatbelts match your group size. Pro tip: message the host to confirm linens, towels, and kitchen basics are included to skip extra packing.
nps.gov/elte/index.htm

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts make your trip easier with a smart menu of add-ons. Popular options around Cameron include linen and kitchen kits ($30-$75), camping chairs and outdoor mats, portable grills, bike racks, and generator rentals for boondocking near Lake Somerville. Many hosts also offer delivery and setup, propane top-ups, and dump/clean services so you don't have to handle waste yourself ($50-$150). Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Cameron, with a 30 to 60-minute walkthrough included. Check each listing's mileage policy, generator hours, and pet fees before booking. Pro tip: bundling a dump-and-clean add-on at the end of your trip is worth every penny for first-timers.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/lake-somerville-birch-creek

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform. You pay your trip total (rental rate, protection plan, taxes, and any add-ons) at booking using a credit or debit card, with no cash exchanged with the host. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before the trip (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) to cover incidentals like minor damage, missing items, or returning with low fuel. As long as you return the RV in the same condition, the hold is released within a few days of trip completion. Pro tip: take a quick video walkthrough at pickup and dropoff. It's the easiest way to keep your full deposit on your Cameron RV rental.
