I cannot say enough good things about my rental experience with Jose! From the very beginning, he was incredibly easy to work with and made the entire process completely stress-free.I had the RV delivered directly to the campground, and Jose took "ready to enjoy" to a whole new level. I watched him quickly set everything up, and he didn't just hook up the utilities—he completely curated the outdoor space right in front of me. He set out the outdoor rug, chairs, and table perfectly so it was ready to go. All I literally had to do was walk in with my bags and start relaxing. The RV itself was pristine and fully loaded—there was absolutely nothing missing or that I needed to bring myself. Plus, having three TVs was an amazing, luxury touch! While it was just me on this trip, this spacious and thoughtful setup would be absolutely perfect for families. If you want a seamless, premium, and hospitable RV rental, look no further than Jose. I will definitely be renting from him again!

We had an amazing experience renting from Dakota! The RV was delivered early, which was a great surprise and really got us excited for the trip. When Dakota couldn’t make the delivery himself, he sent Aaron, who did an awesome job with setup and made everything easy. Both were professional and great to work with. I would definitely recommend renting from Dakota or Aaron! I will using them again in the future for sure.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Schertz, TX

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Schertz, TX?

RV rental in Schertz is affordable compared to nearby Austin or Houston metros. On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers from around $80 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes between $150 and $275 per night, and Class A coaches from $250 and up. Hosts set their own pricing, so you can filter by your price range to find a cheap RV rental in Schertz. To save more, book midweek stays, travel in the shoulder seasons of March or October when San Antonio crowds thin out, and look for hosts offering unlimited mileage. Bundling a delivery package can cost less than the fuel you would burn driving a large rig across I-35.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Schertz, Texas?

Your regular Class C driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Schertz. Texas does not require a special endorsement or Commercial Driver's License for motorhomes or trailers under 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, which covers nearly every rig on RVezy. RVezy approved drivers are generally required to be at least 25 years old, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking, so there are no paperwork delays at pickup. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home-country license. Most first-time renters are approved within hours of submitting a booking request.

What protection is included with my Schertz RV rental?

Every RV rental in Schertz, TX booked through RVezy automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit I-35 with peace of mind. Renters choose a protection level at checkout based on the financial buffer they want, and the plan covers eligible physical damage to the vehicle during your trip. This is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful protection against unexpected events like a windshield chip on US-281 or accidental interior damage. You select your protection tier directly, so you stay in control of your trip's safety net.

What if I need to cancel my Schertz RV trip?

Booking your Schertz RV trip is low-risk because RVezy sets and manages the cancellation policy, not individual hosts. There is a money-back grace period right after booking, and refund options apply based on how far ahead of your trip you cancel. You won't see a patchwork of host-specific rules, just one consistent policy backed by RVezy's support team. If a host has to cancel, RVezy refunds you or provides travel credit. Book early to lock in your rig and reach out to support anytime with questions before your trip starts.

Can I bring my dog on a Schertz RV rental?

Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in Schertz is easy to set up. Check the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see plenty of hosts who welcome furry co-pilots (some charge a small pet fee, usually $25 to $75 per trip). Schertz is dog-friendly: Pickrell Park has shaded picnic spots, and the Cibolo Center for Conservation just up the road offers leashed trails. For overnight stays, the San Antonio / Alamo KOA Holiday and nearby RV parks along IH-35 have on-site dog areas. Pack a collapsible water bowl, summer pavement on Texas asphalt gets very hot, and your dog will thank you for sticking to grass and shaded paths.

For Hill Country river access, Rio Guadalupe Resort near New Braunfels is a strong pick. Book Texas state park sites up to five months ahead through Texas Parks and Wildlife, weekends fill fast.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Schertz?

Spring (mid-March to late May) and fall (October through early December) are the sweet spots for a Schertz RV trip. Daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to mid-80s, evenings cool to the 50s and 60s, and the Hill Country wildflowers along US-281 are beautiful in April. Summers from June through September regularly reach 95 to 100 degrees, so plan early-morning drives and look for campgrounds with shade and 50-amp service for reliable AC. Winters are mild with January highs near 61 degrees, making Schertz a legitimate snowbird destination. Late May is among the wettest periods and aligns with peak severe-storm season across South Central Texas, so plan flexible itineraries during that window.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Schertz?

You will do great, first time renting an RV is more common than you might think, and Schertz is a friendly launchpad. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving tips, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and the dump valves so nothing is a mystery. If you are nervous about handling a large rig in I-35 traffic, choose a smaller Class B campervan or a 24-foot Class C, or request delivery so the host parks it for you. Schertz sits on flat terrain with wide suburban roads, great for a practice loop, and you can message your host anytime during the trip with questions.

Snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup so you can share details quickly if you need help on the road.

Can I take my Schertz RV rental out of Texas or across the border?

Yes, you have room to roam. Most Texas hosts allow interstate travel across the lower 48, so an RV road trip from Schertz can easily head to Louisiana, New Mexico's White Sands, Colorado's Rockies, or up through Oklahoma. Confirm the host's travel area on the listing or message them before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage do not extend across the border. Travel to Canada may be allowed with host approval. Popular multi-state loops from Schertz include the Texas Hill Country to Big Bend (about 1,000-mile round trip) and the Gulf Coast run to Port Aransas and South Padre.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Schertz RV trip?

Fuel is a real line item, but Texas helps you out: gas in the Schertz and San Antonio area typically runs below the national average, and diesel is widely available at truck stops along I-35 and I-10. Expect roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon for Class A motorhomes, 10 to 14 MPG for Class C, 15 to 20 MPG for campervans, and 12 to 16 MPG for a truck towing a travel trailer. For a weekend loop from Schertz to Canyon Lake and back (about 100 miles), budget $40 to $70 in fuel depending on the rig. Use a fuel-price app to find the cheapest stops along US-281 and IH-35, and fill up before leaving the metro for the best prices.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far ahead should I book a campground near Schertz?

For the best campgrounds near Schertz, book as early as you can, especially for weekends from March through October. Texas State Parks like Guadalupe River and Palmetto open reservations five months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, and Hill Country favorites fill within hours for spring break and holiday weekends. Privately run parks near Schertz and along IH-35 take bookings well in advance, often up to a year out. For weekday and shoulder-season trips, you can often grab a site one to two weeks ahead. Have a backup site in mind near New Braunfels or Seguin in case your first choice is full, both are under 20 miles from Schertz.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/reservations

What are driving conditions like around Schertz?

Schertz is one of the easier metros in Texas to drive an RV out of. The city sits along I-35 between San Antonio and New Braunfels with wide lanes, gentle terrain, and easy on/off ramps, no mountain passes or steep grades to worry about. Watch for rush-hour congestion on I-35 between 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m., especially the stretch through Selma and Live Oak. Summer pop-up thunderstorms (peaking May and September) can drop heavy rain fast, so pull over at a rest area if visibility drops. Pro tip: avoid downtown San Antonio's low clearances on Commerce and Houston Streets in a tall Class A, stick to the loops (I-410 and Loop 1604) which are RV-friendly with 14-foot-plus clearances throughout.
txdot.gov/safety.html

What hookups and dump stations should I expect at Schertz-area campgrounds?

You'll find solid infrastructure across campgrounds near Schertz. Most local private RV parks offer full hookups: 30/50-amp electric, fresh water, and sewer right at your site, so no dump runs are needed. State parks like Guadalupe River State Park provide water and electric at the site plus a central dump station and potable water fill on the way out. For dump-only stops between trips, Buc-ee's in New Braunfels (about 15 miles north) and Flying J locations along I-35 offer easy access. Bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose, a 90-degree sewer elbow, and a 30-to-50 amp adapter, these three items solve most hookup hiccups in Texas parks.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/guadalupe-river/fees-facilities

What's typically included inside a Schertz RV rental?

You'll be impressed by how turnkey a motorhome rental in Schertz feels. Most rigs on RVezy come stocked with beds and linens (sleeping 2 to 8 depending on size), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, cookware, and dishes, a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control, and dedicated seatbelts for travel passengers. Many hosts also include a TV, a Wi-Fi hotspot or cellular booster, an onboard generator, outdoor camp chairs, and a propane grill. Check each listing's amenities list and add-ons (bedding kits, kitchen kits, bike racks) before booking. Filter by Sleeps 6+ for a family RV trip from Schertz, and ask the host about generator hours if you plan to boondock at Enchanted Rock or off-grid in the Hill Country.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Schertz,Texas

What add-ons and pickup logistics should I plan for?

You have great flexibility when you rent an RV in Schertz. Common add-ons hosts offer include bedding and towel kits ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, generator usage ($3 to $5 per hour beyond included time), bike racks, kayaks, outdoor furniture, and propane refills. Pickup and dropoff usually happen at the host's Schertz address (often near IH-35 or FM-3009), and most hosts allow a one to two-hour window for orientation. Mileage policies vary, expect 100 to 150 free miles per day with $0.30 to $0.50 per mile after, or unlimited mileage on some listings. Confirm Instant Book listings if you're on a tight timeline, and message the host about early pickup if you want to reach New Braunfels by lunchtime.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Schertz,Texas

How does payment and the security deposit work for a Schertz RV rental?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking using a credit card, with no cash or off-platform transfers (off-platform payments void your protection). A refundable security deposit, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig, is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup and then released after dropoff once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To keep things smooth, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup and photograph any pre-existing dings, return the rig clean with empty tanks (or pay the dump fee), and refuel to the agreed level. Keep your fuel and dump-station receipts to settle any post-trip questions instantly.
