RV & camper rentals in Parkersburg, WV

Good news: an RV rental in Parkersburg is one of the more affordable ways to explore the Mid-Ohio Valley. On RVezy you'll typically see travel trailers starting around $75 to $125 per night, Class C motorhomes in the $150 to $225 range, and larger Class A rigs from $225 to $325 nightly, depending on age and amenities. To score a cheap RV rental in Parkersburg, book midweek, travel in May or September to avoid peak Ohio River festival weekends, and look for hosts offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: filter for Instant Book listings near Mineral Wells just off I-77 for the best value, since those owners often include generous mileage allowances perfect for day trips to Blennerhassett Island.

Great news for first-time renters: West Virginia does not require any special license to drive a standard RV. Your regular driver's license (or the equivalent from your home state) is all you need, even for a 32-foot Class A motorhome, as long as it is under 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), which covers virtually every rig on RVezy. To rent an RV in Parkersburg through RVezy you must be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and ID verification happens right inside the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the United States? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home license and you are set to hit the road.

You are covered from the moment you pick up the keys. Every RV rental in Parkersburg booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on Route 50 or a dead battery at North Bend State Park is just a phone call away. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV, giving you peace of mind without arranging a separate insurance policy. RVezy offers multiple protection tiers, and you (not the host) choose the level of coverage that feels right during checkout. Pro tip: pick your tier based on the terrain, the rolling hills around Wood County are gentle, but longer trips toward Hocking Hills are worth the upgraded plan.

Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (not individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund amounts after the grace period depend on how far out you cancel, which matters along the Ohio River where spring weather can occasionally affect campgrounds. You will see the exact policy details and timelines on your booking confirmation. Pro tip: book early for the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival in August, sites fill fast, and RVezy's flexibility means you can secure your rig now while plans firm up.

Absolutely — many Parkersburg hosts welcome pets, and your four-legged copilot will love the trails along the Little Kanawha River. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Parkersburg, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see every host who allows dogs (some allow cats too). Most West Virginia state parks, including nearby North Bend State Park and Mountwood Park, allow leashed pets on trails and at campsites. Pro tip: City Park in downtown Parkersburg has a dedicated off-leash dog area perfect for a stretch before you hit the road, and Fort Boreman Park's overlook trails are dog-friendly with leashes under six feet.

Yes, and it's one of the best ways to start your trip stress-free. Many hosts offer RV delivery in Parkersburg, dropping the rig at your campsite or home, leveling it, hooking up power and water, and walking you through every system before they leave. Popular delivery destinations include Mountwood Park just 15 minutes east on Route 50, American Way RV Park in Mineral Wells, and Blennerhassett RV Park across the river in Belpre, Ohio. Filter for Delivery on RVezy to see which hosts offer this service and their delivery radius. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer if you're flying into Wood County Airport (PKB) — skip the rental car and have your motorhome rental in Parkersburg waiting for you.

Mileage is flexible: each host on RVezy sets their own daily mileage allowance, and many Parkersburg listings include 100 to 150 free miles per day with the option to add unlimited mileage for a flat daily fee. That's plenty for an RV road trip from Parkersburg to nearby gems like Hocking Hills State Park (about 90 miles northwest), New River Gorge National Park (around 175 miles south), or Seneca Rocks (roughly 200 miles east). The mileage details show clearly on each listing before you book. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer loop through West Virginia's Almost Heaven scenery, message the host first — many will bundle unlimited mileage into a multi-night discount.

You've got excellent options for RV camping in Parkersburg, all within a 30-minute drive. North Bend State Park in Cairo (about 25 miles east) offers River Run and Cokeley campgrounds with electric hookups and access to the 72-mile North Bend Rail Trail. Mountwood Park Family Campground, just 15 minutes east off Route 50, has lakeside sites with hookups and great fishing. American Way RV Park in Mineral Wells sits 10 minutes from downtown with full hookups and pull-throughs. Across the river, Blennerhassett RV Park in Belpre, Ohio offers riverside camping minutes from Point Park. Pro tip: book North Bend through the West Virginia State Parks reservation system at least 4 to 6 weeks ahead for summer weekends.

The sweet spot for RV camping in Parkersburg runs from late April through October, with peak weather in May, June, September, and early October when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to low 80s°F and humidity is manageable. July and August are the warmest months, averaging highs near 86°F with high humidity — great for river days, less ideal for hiking. Fall is a local insider favorite: the hills around the Ohio River explode with color from mid-October to early November, and campgrounds quiet down. Pro tip: time your campervan rental in Parkersburg for the third weekend of August to catch the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival along the riverfront.

You'll do great, and you won't be doing it alone. Every RVezy host provides a walkthrough at pickup covering driving tips, hookups, the generator, slide-outs, and dumping tanks, so first time renting an RV feels far less intimidating. Parkersburg is an ideal place to learn: traffic is light, downtown streets near Point Park are easy to navigate, and Route 50 and I-77 offer wide lanes for getting your bearings. The biggest things to watch are the older brick streets in the Julia-Ann Historic District (low-clearance trees) and the narrow approach to Blennerhassett Island parking. Pro tip: do a short practice loop on I-77 south toward Mineral Wells before heading out on your full trip.

You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, lockouts, dead batteries, mechanical breakdowns, and towing. One call connects you with help whether you are parked at Mountwood Park, cruising Route 50 toward North Bend, or driving the Ohio River Scenic Byway. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after every trip, and your host is just a message away inside the app for quick questions like resetting the inverter. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before you leave Parkersburg, cell service can dip in the hills east of town near Cairo.

Yes, crossing into Ohio is part of the fun, since the bridge across the Ohio River puts Belpre and Marietta minutes away, and most Parkersburg hosts welcome travel throughout the lower 48 states. Popular multi-state routes from Parkersburg include Hocking Hills, Ohio (about 90 miles), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (about 180 miles), and the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee (about 350 miles). Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on your host and the RV's insurance coverage, so message the listing before booking to confirm. Important: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: the Ohio River Scenic Byway from Parkersburg west toward Cincinnati is a stunning two-state RV road trip.

Budgeting fuel is easier than most people expect. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and larger Class A rigs run 6 to 9 MPG; travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but typically pull at 10 to 14 MPG. Gas prices in Parkersburg generally run a few cents below the national average thanks to West Virginia's lower fuel tax compared to neighboring Pennsylvania. For a 4-night trip with about 300 miles of driving in a Class C, plan on roughly $120 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Sheetz or Go-Mart locations along Route 50 east of downtown before heading toward North Bend, where stations get sparse.

For peace of mind, book popular sites 4 to 8 weeks ahead for summer weekends. West Virginia state parks like North Bend take reservations through wvstateparks.com up to 13 months in advance, and Mountwood Park (Wood County) and American Way RV Park both accept direct online bookings. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, the Parkersburg Homecoming weekend in mid-August, and fall color weekends in October are the fastest to sell out. Midweek and shoulder-season stays often have same-week availability. Pro tip: if your first choice is full, check Forked Run State Park in Long Bottom, Ohio (about 30 miles southwest) — it stays open year-round and frequently has openings when WV parks are booked solid.

Driving an RV around Parkersburg is refreshingly relaxed compared to bigger metros. I-77 and US Route 50 are the main arteries — both have wide lanes and gentle grades suitable for any motorhome rental in Parkersburg. Downtown streets near Point Park are walkable and a bit narrow, so larger Class A rigs are better parked at Point Park's RV lot at 113 Ann Street (the official Blennerhassett visitor lot has bus and RV parking). Watch for winding two-lane roads heading east on Route 50 toward Cairo and North Bend, and be mindful of fog in river valleys early mornings in spring and fall. Pro tip: avoid the steep, narrow approach to Fort Boreman Park hilltop with anything over 25 feet.

Local campgrounds make RV life easy. Most parks near Parkersburg offer 30/50-amp electric, water, and many have full sewer hookups; the rest provide convenient dump stations. North Bend State Park has hot showers, a camp store, and a swimming pool, while American Way RV Park offers full hookups, laundry, and free Wi-Fi. Mountwood Park features lake access, fishing, and a playground that's great for families. You can refill fresh water at every state park campground, and dump stations are available even for non-guests for a small fee at most West Virginia state parks. Pro tip: the dump station at North Bend State Park is free for registered campers and located right near the campground exit for an easy departure-day stop.

Even the most basic RV rental in Parkersburg comes well equipped for a great trip. Expect a fully stocked kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, sink, and basic cookware; a private bathroom with shower and toilet; comfortable sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on size; air conditioning, heating, and seatbelts for all driving passengers. Many listings include a TV, Wi-Fi hotspot, generator for boondocking, outdoor awning, and camp chairs. Each listing on RVezy shows exactly what's included plus optional add-ons. Pro tip: for a Parkersburg RV trip in shoulder season, prioritize rigs with a propane furnace (not just electric heat) since spring and fall nights in the Ohio River Valley can drop into the 40s°F.

Popular add-ons make your trip easier and more affordable than you'd think. Most Parkersburg hosts offer extras like linen and kitchen kits ($25 to $75 flat), bike racks, generators, camp chairs, portable grills, and pet cleaning fees ($25 to $50). Pickup is usually at the host's home in or around Parkersburg, Mineral Wells, or Vienna, and many hosts offer delivery within 25 to 50 miles for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies vary by listing — every detail is shown upfront on RVezy so there are no surprises at checkout. Pro tip: bundle a linen kit and pre-trip provisioning with delivery to Mountwood Park, and your family RV trip in Parkersburg essentially starts the moment you arrive at the campsite.

Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay entirely through RVezy, never cash or off-platform transfers, using a credit or debit card at booking. Most reservations charge a deposit upfront with the balance due before the trip starts, and a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized separately from your booking payment before pickup. As long as you return the RV in the agreed condition with the right fuel and tank levels, the deposit is released after the trip. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a quick video walkaround of the RV at pickup and dropoff in Parkersburg to make any deposit return crystal clear and hassle-free.

Yes, and parking is easier than in most cities. Downtown Parkersburg has dedicated RV and bus parking at the Blennerhassett Museum/Welcome Center lots on Ann Street and Juliana Street, putting you steps from Point Park where the Island Belle sternwheeler departs for the 20-minute ride to Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park (open Tuesday through Sunday, May through late October). Streets in the historic district are wide enough for Class C and smaller Class A rigs, though tight for anything over 32 feet. Sternwheeler tickets run $12 for adults and $8 for kids. Pro tip: arrive before the 3 p.m. last boat, tour the Palladian mansion, then walk two blocks to the Oil & Gas Museum — a classic Parkersburg RV trip afternoon.
