Can't say enough good things about Scott. When you rent from someone else, you want to feel confident that you're getting what you asked for and will have help/support if needed. Its not just that Scott was good when things were good, its how awesome he was whenever there was an issue or question that really sets him above all others in our book. Not only did he jump in to help us when our original host cancelled last minute, but when we had an early issue he immediately took action to help and personally came to check and make sure it was resolved properly. Amazing, caring host and we would definitely book with him again for future RV needs.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Mequon?

Good news: a regular Wisconsin (or out-of-state) driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Mequon. Wisconsin does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal motorhomes or travel trailers, even the big Class A coaches. You'll need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and you'll confirm your ID through the platform during checkout, which usually takes just a few minutes. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters in Mequon are surprised at how simple the paperwork is, leaving you free to focus on the fun part: planning your route along Lake Michigan.

Is my Mequon RV rental protected if something goes wrong?

Yes. Every booking on RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road from Mequon with peace of mind. During checkout you choose from different protection plan tiers based on the coverage level you want, and the plan covers most accidental damage to the RV during your trip. Hosts do not set your coverage level, you do, so you stay in control. Combined with around-the-clock roadside help if you get a flat on I-43 or need a tow near Cedarburg, your Mequon RV trip is well supported from the moment you pull out of the driveway.

What if I need to cancel my Mequon RV rental?

Booking is low risk. RVezy sets a clear cancellation policy on every reservation, including a grace period right after you book so you can lock in your Mequon dates with confidence. Cancellation outcomes depend on factors like how far in advance you cancel and whether there is a major event such as a severe Wisconsin winter storm or natural disaster. Because RVezy manages cancellations rather than the host, the process is consistent no matter which Mequon listing you choose. If your plans shift, log into your RVezy account or contact customer support and they will walk you through your options. Tip: book early for July and August around Milwaukee's Summerfest, then relax knowing you have flexibility if plans change.

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Mequon is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search, and you'll see listings from hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) for a small cleaning fee. Mequon and the surrounding Ozaukee County are a dream for dog owners: Virmond Park has off-leash hours along the Lake Michigan bluffs, and the Ozaukee Interurban Trail runs 30 miles right through town for leashed walks. Harrington Beach State Park, just 20 minutes north, allows leashed pets in the campground and on most trails. Pack a tie-out, collapsible water bowl, and vaccination records. Many hosts will even include a pet bed or bowls, just message them before booking to confirm.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Mequon?

Yes, RV delivery in Mequon is a popular option on RVezy, especially for first-timers who would rather skip driving a 30-foot motorhome through traffic on I-43. Many Mequon-area hosts will deliver the RV directly to your campground, your driveway, or a nearby park like Harrington Beach State Park or Kohler-Andrae State Park. They will level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system including awnings and slide-outs before handing over the keys. Delivery fees usually scale with distance, often a flat fee plus a per-mile rate. Filter for Delivery on RVezy to see hosts offering this service. It is the smoothest way to enjoy a stress-free Mequon RV trip.

How far can I drive on my Mequon RV rental, and is unlimited mileage available?

You've got plenty of road to explore. Each Mequon host sets their own mileage policy, but most include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extra miles available at around $0.30 to $0.50 each. If you're planning a longer trip, look for listings tagged as RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for a Door County loop or a swing up to the Apostle Islands. From Mequon, popular distances are: Milwaukee (20 miles), Madison (95 miles), Wisconsin Dells (140 miles), Door County's Sturgeon Bay (165 miles), and Chicago (110 miles). Add up your planned miles before booking and message the host if you'll go over, many will happily bump your allotment for a small flat fee.

Where are the best campgrounds near Mequon, WI?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Mequon. Harrington Beach State Park (20 minutes north in Belgium) offers wooded sites near a quarry lake and a Lake Michigan beach. Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in West Allis (25 minutes south) has full hookups and easy access to Milwaukee. Country View Campground in Mukwonago and Pride of America Camping Resort in Pardeeville are both popular family picks under 90 minutes away. For a Door County feel without the haul, Kohler-Andrae State Park in Sheboygan (40 minutes north) features dunes and full-service sites. Pro tip: state park sites release 11 months in advance through Wisconsin DNR, so set a calendar reminder for prime summer weekends.

When is the best time to visit Mequon in an RV?

For most travelers, late May through early October is prime time for a Mequon RV trip. June, July, and August bring warm days in the 75 to 85°F range and balmy evenings perfect for grilling lakeside, while September offers cooler 60 to 70°F days, fewer bugs, and lower nightly rates. Early October lights up the Ozaukee Interurban Trail with fall color. Spring (April to mid-May) can be wet and chilly (40 to 60°F) but is great for a cheap RV rental in Mequon. Winters are cold with heavy snow and many campgrounds close, so most renters aim for May through October. Insider tip: book around Milwaukee's Summerfest (late June to early July) for unbeatable festival vibes paired with peaceful Mequon evenings.

Can I rent an RV in Mequon in the winter?

Yes, winter RV rental in Mequon is possible and can be a magical, snowy adventure if you plan ahead. Ozaukee County winters average 20 to 30°F with regular snowfall from December through March, so look specifically for four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces. Many Mequon hosts winterize their fleet by November, so message before booking to confirm winter availability. Stationary winter stays at a campground with shore power, like Wisconsin State Fair RV Park or a private resort, are easiest. Pro tip: keep fresh water tanks low and use a heated water hose if hooking up. A winter RV trip pairs beautifully with Cedarburg's Festive Friday Eves holiday market just 10 minutes from Mequon.

I have never rented an RV before. Will I get help in Mequon?

You are in good hands. First time renting an RV in Mequon? Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, typically 30 to 60 minutes covering driving tips, water and waste systems, propane, the generator, slide-outs, and how to level the rig. You will leave knowing exactly which buttons to push. You can also message hosts directly through the listing before you book to ask anything, from how the awning works to whether the RV handles well on I-43. RVezy customer support is available during your trip as well. For your first drive, take it easy: Mequon's wide suburban roads make it easy to get comfortable before heading further afield.

What happens if I break down during my Mequon RV trip?

Help is just a phone call away. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so whether you have a flat tire on I-43, a dead battery at Harrington Beach State Park, or you are locked out at a campground in Cedarburg, one call gets a tow truck, locksmith, or mobile mechanic dispatched to you. You can also reach RVezy customer support directly through the app. Save the roadside number to your phone before pickup. For non-emergencies, your Mequon host is usually a quick text away too, they know their RV best and can often troubleshoot small issues like a tripped breaker in under a minute.

What are popular road trip routes from Mequon?

Mequon is a great launching point for a Wisconsin RV road trip. Top routes include: north to Door County's Peninsula State Park (about 165 miles, 3 hours) for waterfront campsites and cherry orchards; west to Wisconsin Dells (about 140 miles, 2.5 hours) for waterparks and the Dells boat tours; northwest to Devil's Lake State Park (about 130 miles) for some of the Midwest's best hiking; and south to Chicago (about 90 miles, under 2 hours) for an urban detour. For a longer adventure, drive about 6 hours north to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore on Lake Superior. Cross-border trips into Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota are generally fine on RVezy, just confirm with your host. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals.
wisconsindot.gov/Pages/travel/default.aspx

How much will fuel cost on my Mequon RV trip?

Fuel is usually the biggest variable in your RV budget, but it's easy to plan for. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A coaches run 6 to 10 MPG. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves, but towing drops your truck's MPG by 25 to 40%. Wisconsin gas prices in the Mequon area typically run a bit below the national average, often $3.10 to $3.60 per gallon for regular. Round trip to Door County (about 330 miles) in a Class C will cost roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: GasBuddy and Costco in Grafton (10 minutes from Mequon) consistently offer the area's lowest prices, fill up before you head north.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Mequon?

Earlier is better, especially for the prime summer months. Wisconsin State Park campsites (including Harrington Beach and Kohler-Andrae) open for reservations 11 months in advance through the Wisconsin DNR reservation system, and waterfront sites on summer weekends often book up within minutes of release. Aim to reserve by January or February for July and August stays. Private campgrounds like Wisconsin State Fair RV Park book 3 to 6 months ahead for summer. For shoulder season (May, September, October), you can often snag a site 2 to 4 weeks out. Tip for your Mequon RV trip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) are dramatically easier to book and quieter once you are there.
dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/reservations

What are driving conditions like around Mequon?

Driving around Mequon is genuinely easy for new RVers. The main artery, Interstate 43, is a wide, well-maintained four-lane highway that whisks you north to Sheboygan and Door County or south into Milwaukee in minutes. Mequon's local roads (Mequon Road/Hwy 167, Cedarburg Road/Hwy 57, Port Washington Road) are flat, suburban, and RV-friendly with generous lane widths. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk on rural stretches near the Milwaukee River. Winter (December through March) brings snow and ice, so if you're renting then, plan for slower drives and consider delivery instead. Summer construction season can slow I-43, check the Wisconsin DOT 511 system before heading out. Avoid downtown Milwaukee's narrow Historic Third Ward streets in larger Class A motorhomes.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Mequon?

Campgrounds around Mequon range from full-service resorts to peaceful state parks, so you can pick your comfort level. Wisconsin State Fair RV Park offers full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, and laundry. Harrington Beach State Park has electric-only sites plus a centralized dump station and potable water fill, no sewer at the site. Kohler-Andrae State Park offers similar amenities with hot showers and a nature center. Most private campgrounds in Ozaukee and Washington counties include playgrounds, pools, and camp stores. For dumping and refilling between trips, the Wisconsin State Fair RV Park dump station is open seasonally to the public for a small fee. Pro tip: always confirm amp service (30 vs 50) before booking, your RV's air conditioning depends on it.

What's included inside a typical Mequon RV rental?

Most RVs you'll find for a motorhome rental in Mequon come surprisingly well equipped. Expect a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink, and basic cookware; a bathroom with toilet and shower; comfortable sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on size; air conditioning and propane furnace; and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Many listings also include a TV, Bluetooth speakers, outdoor awning, and an onboard generator (great for boondocking). Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include a mobile hotspot, others suggest you tether to your phone. Linens, towels, and kitchen kits are sometimes included and sometimes offered as add-ons. Check the amenities list on each listing, and message the host to ask about anything specific, like a coffee maker or kid-friendly setup for a family RV trip in Mequon.

What add-ons and options can I get with my Mequon RV rental?

Hosts on RVezy offer a range of extras to make your trip easier. Popular add-ons in Mequon include camping kits (chairs, table, fire pit gear) for $25 to $50, bedding and linen packs for $15 to $30 per bed, kitchen kits with cookware and dishes, bike racks, generators, and Wi-Fi hotspots. How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure. When you book your Mequon RV rental, you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, with no cash changing hands with the host. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is placed as a hold on your card a few days before your trip and released within 7 days of return, assuming no damage or major cleaning issues. Avoid deposit headaches by doing a quick walkaround with the host at pickup, snapping photos, returning with the same fuel and propane levels, and dumping the tanks if the host requests it. Keep all communication and payments inside the RVezy app and never pay a host outside the platform.
