The area follows a classic California Mediterranean pattern: cool, wet winters and dry, warm summers. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with mild days, low rainfall, and green or golden hills.
Summer brings long stretches of dry weather and the highest demand. Inland sites at Live Oak - Mt Diablo State Park can run hot in the afternoon, while sites closer to the Carquinez Strait stay cooler thanks to bay breezes and fog. Fire restrictions are common across California State Parks and East Bay open space from late spring into fall, so check current rules before lighting any flame.
Winter is the wet season. Storms can saturate trails and unpaved access roads, and some facilities scale back. Skyline Wilderness Park has reported all trails open but very wet following December storms, with caution advised. Spring brings wildflowers across Mount Diablo and the Napa hills, and weekend sites at the state park book out quickly.

A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup and released after drop-off, assuming the RV is returned in good shape with tanks emptied and fuel topped off per your host's instructions. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough video at pickup and return, note any pre-existing scratches, and clean up before drop-off.
