Expect a wide range of camping styles within a short radius. Live Oak Campground occupies a wooded glen at about 1,450 feet elevation, one mile above the South Gate Entrance Station, with 22 sites each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Sites are close together with limited privacy, and cell service is spotty. Delta parks are flatter and warmer. Eddo's Harbor and RV Park can accommodate larger rigs in the lower sites, with grass and gravel pads and plenty of shade trees. Rio Viento RV Park features paved sites with water and electrical hookups, plus a sanitary dump station, though the access road can be rough. Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area is an active OHV park, so it gets loud with bikes on weekends. Pack for warm days, cool nights, and limited shade at OHV and summit-area sites.
