Campgrounds near Goshen, California
Goshen sits in California's San Joaquin Valley at the junction of Highway 99 and Highway 198, the main corridor leading east to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The town functions primarily as a staging point for RV travelers heading into the southern Sierra Nevada, with most full-hookup options clustered a few miles east in Visalia or along the Kings River to the north.
The Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA Journey is the closest established RV park, offering pull-through sites with full hookups, a pool, and a camp store. Accessible year-round via paved roads, this KOA accommodates a wide range of rig sizes with electric, water, and sewer connections. Country Manor Mobile Home Community, Royal Palms, Riverland RV Resort, and Kings River RV Resort round out the nearby private options, with Riverland and Kings River sitting along the Kings River corridor north of town. For travelers willing to drive into the Sierra, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks operate roughly a dozen developed campgrounds with approximately 1,100 sites combined, ranging from developed sites with flush toilets and drinking water to primitive backcountry options.
Things to do near Goshen
Most trips from Goshen point east toward the national parks. Highway 198 from Visalia leads east to Sequoia National Park via Three Rivers, and inside the parks Highway 198 becomes the Generals Highway, which connects to Highway 180. Day-trip targets include the General Sherman Tree and Giant Forest grove, the Tokopah Falls trail near Lodgepole, and the Foothills area for spring wildflowers and oak woodlands. Lake Kaweah is closer in and works for boating, fishing, and picnicking with views of the surrounding hills. Closer to base, Mooney Grove Park in Visalia has picnic areas and a local-history museum, and downtown Visalia offers restaurants and shops. The Tulare Outlet Center sits a short drive south for a rain-day option.

Goshen sits in the valley, so the town itself is accessible year-round, but the surrounding parks operate on very different schedules. Spring and fall deliver the most comfortable conditions at low elevation, with mild days and cool nights ideal for RV camping. Summer is hot and dry in the valley, with July highs in Visalia averaging in the mid-90s Fahrenheit and overnight lows near 66°F. At higher elevations the timing flips. Potwisha in the foothills and Azalea at Grant Grove are the only two campgrounds open year-round. Most other Sequoia and Kings Canyon campgrounds open in late spring and close in fall once snow arrives.
Winter brings rain to the valley and snow to the Sierra. The Generals Highway between the parks is frequently affected by snow, and chains may be required on park roads. Visitors with vehicles over 22 feet in total length hoping to visit the Giant Forest or camp at Lodgepole and Dorst Creek Campgrounds are advised to enter via the northern, Highway 180, entrance.

Its was our first time camping and we are very lucky we found this one. Alex is a great host and explained everything before we departed. We were a little stressed as it was our first time camping in King's Canyon, but Alex made us feel comfortable with the trailer and walked us through everything. The trailer is super neat and clean we didn't have to do anything to set up. We put our stuff in it and it was ready to go which made our trip a lot easier. Alex is very friendly and was available throughout our whole trip in case we had questions and needed help. We will definitely be coming back to Alex for all our camping adventures. Thank you it was a great experience!
Kevin O. - Jul 2026
We had a great week in the Sequoias using Alex’s trailer. It was extremely clean and had great supplies available. The kids loved their bunkbeds plus the option to sleep on the fold-down dinette area. Communication with Alex was great - he provided lots of helpful details and helped us resolve one minor issue right away. Definitely recommend!

How to book campgrounds in the area
Private parks near Goshen, including the Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA Journey, Riverland RV Resort, and Kings River RV Resort, book directly through each operator's website or phone. The KOA accepts reservations through the KOA platform and accommodates a wide range of rig sizes. For national park sites in Sequoia and Kings Canyon, plan further ahead. Reservations open on a one-month rolling window through Recreation.gov, with sites becoming available on the 15th of each month at 7:00 AM Pacific Time for one month ahead. Summer demand is extremely high, and popular campgrounds like Lodgepole fill within minutes of reservations opening. Sites in Azalea Campground are first-come, first-served during the winter months but require reservations in the spring and summer.
What to expect on the ground
Valley campgrounds around Goshen are practical rather than scenic. Sites are typically gravel pull-throughs with full hookups, oriented for travelers staging trips into the Sierra rather than long stays. Expect agricultural surroundings, occasional farm odors, and audible road or rail noise at properties near Highway 99 or the rail corridor. Cell coverage is generally reliable across the valley but drops off quickly in the mountains. At the national park campgrounds, conditions shift to forested, high-elevation sites with no hookups. Lodgepole has paved roads, flush toilets, and drinking water, with picnic tables, fire rings, and bear food storage boxes provided at each site. Bears are active day and night, and all food, trash, and scented items must be stored in the provided food-storage boxes.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Goshen, CA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Goshen, CA?
RV rental in Goshen is an affordable way to explore the Sierra Nevada foothills, with most travel trailers starting around $90 to $140 per night, Class C motorhomes ranging $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes from $250 to $400 per night. Because Goshen sits right off Highway 99 in California's Central Valley, prices tend to run lower than Bay Area or Los Angeles pickups. To score a cheap RV rental in Goshen, book midweek, travel in March, April, or October, and filter for travel trailers if your tow vehicle qualifies. Many hosts near Visalia offer multi-night discounts of 10 to 20 percent for stays of five nights or more, perfect for a Sequoia loop.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Goshen,CaliforniaWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Goshen, California?
Good news, your regular Class C driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Goshen for almost every motorhome and travel trailer on the RVezy platform. California only requires a Non-Commercial Class B license for motorhomes longer than 40 feet, and a Non-Commercial Class A for trailers over 10,000 lbs Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), neither of which applies to the typical Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, or mid-size travel trailer most guests book. You must be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your identification directly through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? An International Driving Permit (IDP) paired with your home license keeps things simple at pickup.
dmv.ca.gov/portal/handbook/recreational-vehicles-and-trailers-handbook-2011/license-classes-and-requirements/Is the RV protected if something goes wrong on my trip?
Yes, every RV rental in Goshen booked through RVezy automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you're covered before you even turn the key. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the RV, giving you peace of mind without buying a separate insurance policy. During booking, you choose from multiple protection tiers with different deductible levels so you can pick the coverage that fits your comfort zone. The host does not set this. First-time renters love the simplicity: book the RV, choose your plan, and hit Highway 198 toward Sequoia knowing the safety net is already in place.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Goshen RV rental?
Booking is low risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy across the platform, and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book. Depending on how far out your trip start date is and the circumstances, you may be eligible for partial or full refunds. The full cancellation policy is detailed in the RVezy Help Center rather than on each listing. If a host cancels your booking, RVezy will refund you or provide travel credits. The takeaway: lock in your Goshen RV trip with confidence, and reach out to RVezy support if life changes your plans.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Goshen?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Goshen is easy to find on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page and you'll see listings whose hosts welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Once you're on the road, dogs are welcome in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks campgrounds, paved roads, and parking areas, though they're not permitted on park trails or in the backcountry. For trail-friendly tail wags, head to Sequoia National Forest or Lake Kaweah Recreation Area, both within an hour of Goshen. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and bring a portable shade canopy, Central Valley afternoons get hot.
nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to me in Goshen?
Yes, RV delivery in Goshen is offered by many hosts on RVezy, which makes this the easiest way to start your trip if you'd rather skip driving a big rig down Highway 99. Hosts can drop the RV at your home, a Visalia hotel, or directly at a campground like Sequoia RV Ranch or Lemon Cove Village RV Park, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing you the keys. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $4 per mile round trip, with many hosts offering free delivery within 10 to 20 miles of Goshen. First time renting an RV? Choose a delivered setup and treat it like a cabin on wheels.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Goshen,CaliforniaHow far can I drive, and what mileage policies should I expect?
You've got plenty of room to roam on your Goshen RV trip. Most hosts offer 100 to 150 free miles per night, and many also offer unlimited mileage packages or generous bundles that cover a full Sequoia and Kings Canyon loop with miles to spare. From Goshen, the Sequoia National Park entrance at Three Rivers is about 35 miles east on Highway 198, Yosemite Valley is roughly 165 miles north, and the Pacific Coast at Pismo Beach is around 160 miles southwest. Pro tip: filter listings for RV rental with unlimited mileage if you're planning a multi-park California road trip from Goshen, it removes any guesswork from your budget.
nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Goshen, CA?
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Goshen and the surrounding foothills. Sun & Fun RV Park right in Tulare (about 15 miles south) offers full hookups, a pool, and easy Highway 99 access. Sequoia RV Ranch in Three Rivers sits just 8 miles from the Sequoia National Park entrance with riverside sites along the Kaweah. Lemon Cove Village RV Park is a Good Sam favorite 25 miles from the park gate. Inside the park, Potwisha Campground (open year-round, 2,100 ft elevation) and Lodgepole Campground (open May to September) are top picks. Pro tip: reserve Potwisha or Lodgepole on Recreation.gov six months in advance for summer weekends.
nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htmWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Goshen?
Spring and fall are the sweet spot for an RV trip in Goshen, with daytime highs in the 70s to mid-80s in March, April, October, and early November, and crisp 40s and 50s overnight, perfect for sleeping with the windows cracked. Summer in the Central Valley brings real heat, with July and August highs regularly hitting 95 to 100 F, though the Sequoia high country stays a refreshing 60s to mid-70s thanks to its 6,000+ ft elevation. Winters are mild on the valley floor (50s by day, upper 30s at night) but bring snow and chain controls up in the parks. Local insider tip: April wildflower blooms along Highway 198 toward Three Rivers are spectacular.
weather.gov/hnx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I know how to use it?
You'll feel ready before you ever leave the driveway. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery) walking you through the generator, leveling, slide-outs, water, propane, holding tanks, and any quirks specific to that RV, no one is left to figure it out alone. You can also message your host directly from the listing before booking to ask anything you're unsure about. For your first time renting an RV in Goshen, choose a Class C motorhome or smaller travel trailer in the 22 to 28 ft range, easy to handle on Highway 99 and narrow Highway 198 switchbacks. Pro tip: do a short practice loop around Goshen before pointing toward Sequoia.
nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/driving.htmWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so a flat tire on Highway 198, a dead battery at Lake Kaweah, or a propane issue at Potwisha Campground gets handled with one phone call. You also have a direct line to your host, who knows their RV best and can troubleshoot quickly by phone. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip for anything outside the vehicle itself. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before leaving Goshen, cell service drops above Hospital Rock on the way into Sequoia.
chp.ca.gov/programs-services/services-information/scfs-state-of-california-freeway-service-patrolWhat are the best road trips I can take from Goshen?
Goshen is a launchpad for some of California's most iconic RV road trips. Head east 35 miles on Highway 198 for a Sequoia and Kings Canyon RV trip with giant trees, granite domes, and the General Sherman tree. North about 165 miles takes you to Yosemite National Park via Highway 41. South 145 miles drops you in Bakersfield with onward routes to Joshua Tree (roughly 5 hours total). West 160 miles puts you on the coast at Pismo Beach or Morro Bay. Cross-border travel is restricted on RVezy rentals, so confirm with your host before planning any trip outside the United States. Insider tip: do Sequoia first, then Pismo, the contrast of giants and surf is unforgettable.
nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhat kind of fuel economy and gas costs should I budget for?
Plan smart and fuel won't blow your budget. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 10 to 14 MPG, and Class A motorhomes 7 to 10 MPG. California gas prices typically run higher than the national average, with Tulare County stations near Goshen along Highway 99 usually offering the cheapest pumps in the region (Costco in Visalia is a local favorite). For a 4-day Sequoia loop covering roughly 250 miles, budget about $90 to $150 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Goshen or Tulare before heading up Highway 198, gas stations in Three Rivers and inside the national park cost noticeably more.
energy.ca.gov/data-reports/energy-almanac/transportation-energy/california-retail-fuel-outlet-annual-reportingHow far in advance should I book campgrounds near Goshen?
For National Park Service campgrounds like Lodgepole, Potwisha, and Azalea in Sequoia and Kings Canyon, reservations open six months in advance on Recreation.gov, and summer weekends genuinely sell out within minutes, so set a calendar reminder. Private parks like Sequoia RV Ranch, Lemon Cove Village, and Sun & Fun in Tulare typically book 1 to 3 months ahead for peak summer but often have midweek and shoulder-season openings just days out. Pro tip: if Sequoia campgrounds are full, book Lemon Cove Village and ride the Sequoia Shuttle into the park, it's a partner pickup right from the RV park lot.
recreation.gov/gateways/2931What are the driving conditions like around Goshen and into the parks?
Driving around Goshen itself is easy, flat farmland, wide roads, and Highway 99 right at your doorstep. The adventure begins on Highway 198 east toward Sequoia, where the road climbs over 5,000 feet in elevation with tight switchbacks above Hospital Rock. The National Park Service strongly recommends RVs over 22 feet enter Sequoia via Highway 180 from Fresno instead, which is gentler. Summer afternoon thunderstorms can pop up in the high country, and winter brings chain controls (R1/R2) on Generals Highway. Insider tip: leave Goshen by 8 a.m. to beat both Central Valley heat and the afternoon line at the Ash Mountain entrance.
nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/conditions.htmWhat amenities do local campgrounds have for dumping and filling water?
You'll find solid infrastructure throughout the area. Potwisha Campground inside Sequoia National Park has a dump station and potable water fill open year-round, and Lodgepole offers the same May through September. Private parks near Goshen like Sun & Fun RV Park in Tulare and Sequoia RV Ranch in Three Rivers offer full hookups (water, electric, sewer) right at the site, plus laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi. Lemon Cove Village adds a pool and propane refill on site. Most NPS campgrounds have flush toilets and bear-proof food storage lockers, no hookups, so plan to dry-camp inside the park and use full hookups at private parks before or after. Pro tip: top off fresh water in Goshen before leaving town, it's cheaper.
nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htmWhat should I expect to be included inside the RV?
Most RVs available for rent in Goshen come fully equipped for a turn-key trip: a real bed (queen or king in many models), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning and furnace, dinette seating with seatbelts, and an awning for shade. Larger Class C and Class A motorhome rentals in Goshen often add a generator, outdoor speakers, solar panels, and a backup camera. Wi-Fi and TVs vary by listing, so check the amenities section before booking. Pro tip: filter for Instant Book listings if you want a faster confirmation, and message hosts about kitchen kits, many include pots, plates, and coffee makers at no extra charge.
nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/things2know.htmWhat add-ons and pickup options are typical with a Goshen RV rental?
Hosts offer lots of ways to customize your trip. Popular add-ons include bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits ($25 to $50), camping chairs and tables ($10 to $25), generators (often free or $5 to $15 per hour over base usage), bikes, and Starlink Wi-Fi. Pickup and drop-off are typically at the host's location in Goshen, Visalia, or Tulare, though delivery to your home, hotel, or campground is offered by many hosts. Mileage policies usually include 100 to 150 free miles per night with extra miles at $0.30 to $0.50 each, or unlimited mileage upgrades. Pro tip: bundle linens, kitchen kit, and delivery upfront, it's almost always cheaper than buying them separately later.
visitvisalia.com/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which protects you and keeps everything in one place. A security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) as a pre-authorization on your card a few days before pickup, then released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid issues, document the RV with photos and a quick video at pickup and drop-off, follow the host's mileage and generator rules, and return it at the agreed fuel level. Pro tip: use a credit card with a high limit for the deposit hold so it doesn't bump into your trip spending.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I handle the Central Valley summer heat in my RV?
Goshen summers are no joke, July and August routinely hit 95 to 100+ F, but a few smart habits keep your RV cool and comfortable. Look for listings with dual roof air conditioners (common in Class A and larger Class C motorhomes) and choose a campground with 30 or 50 amp shore power like Sun & Fun RV Park or Lemon Cove Village so the AC can run all day. Drive in the morning or evening, park in shade when possible, and use reflective windshield covers (many hosts include these). Better yet, escape the heat by heading 35 miles east to Sequoia, the Giant Forest sits at 6,400 ft and stays 20 to 25 degrees cooler. That's the smart-money Goshen RV trip.
