Campgrounds near Hartley, California
Hartley is a small census-designated place in Solano County, California, sitting just north of Vacaville at an elevation of about 131 feet. It lies roughly halfway between Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area, with quick access to Interstate 80 and the Vaca Mountains foothills to the west. The location puts RV travelers within a short drive of two distinct camping zones: full-hookup private parks on the valley floor near Vacaville, and recreation-area campgrounds along the shoreline of Lake Berryessa, a large reservoir formed by Monticello Dam on Putah Creek with more than 165 miles of shoreline.
Close-in private options include Midway RV Park and Vineyard RV Park, which suit travelers who want hookups, level pads, and an easy base for exploring Napa Valley wineries, UC Davis, and the Sacramento Delta. For lake-focused trips, Pleasure Cove Marina at the south end of Lake Berryessa and Spanish Flat Campground on a peninsula along the southwestern shore add boat launches, swim access, and rentals. Canyon Creek Resort is a members-only community in the broader area.
Things to do near Hartley
Lake Berryessa is the main draw, with about 165 miles of shoreline open to boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, swimming, kayaking, and fishing for bass, catfish, and trout. Pleasure Cove Marina rents houseboats and smaller boats and operates a launch ramp at the south end of the lake. Spanish Flat Campground sits on a peninsula with day-use access and a small-boat launch. Off the water, the Vaca Mountains and Lagoon Valley Park near Vacaville offer hiking and mountain biking, while Putah Creek below Monticello Dam supports fishing. UC Davis, downtown Davis, Napa Valley wineries, and the Nut Tree shopping and restaurant complex in Vacaville are all within a short drive for off-day excursions.

The area has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Summer is peak season at Lake Berryessa: water temperatures climb into the mid-70s Fahrenheit, boat ramps run at full capacity, and weekends fill quickly. Pleasure Cove Marina requires a two-night minimum stay on weekends from April through October, so plan ahead. Fire season typically runs from late spring through fall in the Vaca Mountains, and open fires and charcoal are commonly restricted during burn bans, while propane grills usually remain permitted. Several Berryessa-area campgrounds were damaged in past wildfires, so checking current status before booking is important.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable shoulder seasons, with mild days, wildflowers in March and April, and quieter campgrounds. Winter stays open at the lake but brings the bulk of the annual rainfall, with December typically the wettest month. Snow is essentially absent on the valley floor.

Moments later Rveezy tells me the host is no longer comfortable with accommodating us) Evgeniy not only responed within 5min of me reachout out, but had us out and on the road to enjoy out trip within an hour. How to book near Hartley
Lake Berryessa is managed by the Bureau of Reclamation, with concessioners operating the individual campgrounds. Pleasure Cove Marina handles its own bookings by phone or through its online system, with cancellations required at least 72 hours before arrival and renters required to be 21 or older. Spanish Flat Campground takes reservations directly through its own site. Private parks such as Midway RV Park and Vineyard RV Park book directly with the operator, and Canyon Creek Resort is members only. All motorized boats brought to Lake Berryessa must comply with Solano County Water Agency mussel-inspection rules, including a green Lake Berryessa seal or a red quarantine tag that has been in place for at least 30 days.
What to expect on-site near Hartley
Expect a mix of styles. Private parks near Hartley and Vacaville typically offer full or partial hookups, level pads, showers, and Wi-Fi suited to larger rigs. Lake Berryessa campgrounds are more rustic. Spanish Flat has 55 sites with no hookups, piped water, vault toilets, and a paid dump station, with limited shade and waterfront views when the lake is full. Pleasure Cove has 140 sites, a small number with partial hookups providing electricity and water but no sewer, plus coin-operated showers in the main restroom. Pets are allowed on leash at most properties for a fee. Summer burn bans are common, so pack a propane grill. Cell coverage along the lake is spotty, and overnight temperatures can drop sharply after hot days.
