Campgrounds and RV parks near Meadow Vista, CA

Meadow Vista sits in Placer County's Sierra Nevada foothills along the Interstate 80 corridor, between Auburn and Colfax. RV travelers use it as a base for the American River canyon, Rollins Lake, and the broader Gold Country between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. The terrain is oak woodland and pine ridges at roughly 1,500 to 2,500 feet, generally above the valley fog and below the winter snow line. Campground options fall into two groups. Private full-hookup parks cluster around Auburn, just south on Highway 49. Auburn Gold Country RV Park offers large RV sites, tent sites, and resort-style amenities including a heated pool and spa, playground, pickleball court, WiFi, and an onsite fishing pond. Auburn RV Resort serves travelers wanting hookups close to town services. Public and reservoir camping lies north and east: Mineral Bar - Auburn State Recreational Area runs six first-come, first-served sites through the cooler months, with all fifteen sites open by mid-April and full reservations required once the campground is fully open in mid-May. Orchard Springs Resort, on the west shore of Rollins Lake, offers 91 RV and tent sites with some hookups plus cabins, and Long Ravine Resort sits on the same lake with its own boat launch.

Reservation systems vary by operator. Auburn State Recreation Area sites, including Mineral Bar, are booked through ReserveCalifornia, the state parks platform, with bookings available up to six months in advance. Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days, with a 30-day total camping limit per year, and during the off-season a portion of Mineral Bar runs first-come, first-served. Rollins Lake campgrounds are managed by the Nevada Irrigation District and its concessionaires. Reservations for Orchard Springs Resort are by phone, and Long Ravine Resort takes its own bookings directly. Private parks such as Auburn RV Resort and Auburn Gold Country RV Park book through their own websites. For summer weekends and any holiday, reserve eight to twelve weeks ahead; lakefront and full-hookup sites are the first to sell out.
