Campgrounds and RV parks near Montalvin Manor, CA

The location puts riders, walkers, and birders within easy reach of the Bay Trail and the shoreline parks along San Pablo Bay. Benicia State Recreation Area covers marsh, grassy hillsides and rocky beaches along the narrowest portion of the Carquinez Strait, with about two and a half miles of road and bike paths used by cyclists, runners, walkers, equestrians, and roller skaters, plus picnicking, bird watching, and fishing. The marshland area on Dillon's Point is a particularly favorite place for fishing. From Vallejo, the Vallejo/San Francisco ferry runs across the bay directly to Fisherman's Wharf, making day trips into the city straightforward. Families often pair a stay with Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, Muir Woods and Point Reyes to the west, or wine tasting up Highway 29 into Napa.

The Bay Area runs on a Mediterranean climate, so the camping calendar is shaped more by rain and fog than by snow or extreme heat. Late spring through early fall is the busiest stretch at private RV parks around Vallejo and Greenbrae. Marin Park and Marin RV Park in particular fill weeks ahead during summer weekends, Giants home stands, and major San Francisco events because of their ferry access. December is typically the wettest month, averaging around 100 mm of rain, and storms can arrive in waves off the Pacific with coastal fog and low cloud common. Private parks along I-80 in Vallejo generally stay open year round, while seasonal closures can affect some state-park camping in the broader region during winter. Summers are long, warm, arid, and mostly clear; mornings often start under marine-layer fog that burns off by midday, and afternoon winds through the Carquinez Strait can be strong. Fall, after Labor Day, is typically the most comfortable window: warm days, cool nights, lighter crowds, and minimal rain into mid-November.

Most parks in this corridor are urban or highway-adjacent RV parks rather than wooded campgrounds. Sites are typically gravel pads with full hookups, picnic seating where space allows, and easy big-rig access. Tradewinds RV Park offers 78 sites of various sizes with level gravel beds, full hookups, 30 to 50 amp service, pull-thru sites that can take RVs up to 45 feet, plus Wi-Fi, cable TV hookups, laundry, restrooms, and showers. Marin Park features 87 full-hookup sites, is big-rig accessible and pet-friendly, and offers free Wi-Fi and cable. Expect freeway noise at parks along I-80 and Highway 101 and tight back-in spots at the Marin properties. At Benicia State Recreation Area's enroute sites, campers must enter after 4 p.m. and leave by 9 a.m. the following morning.
