Campgrounds and RV parks near Rodeo, CA

From a Rodeo base, ferry service and I-80 access put downtown San Francisco, Oakland, and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom within easy reach. Benicia State Recreation Area covers marsh, grassy hillsides, and rocky beaches along the narrowest portion of the Carquinez Strait, with about two and a half miles of road and bike paths used by cyclists, runners, walkers, and equestrians, and the marshland on Dillon's Point is a favorite fishing spot. Skyline Wilderness Park has over 25 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and equestrian use, with a main trail leading to Lake Marie, plus disc golf and archery on site. Wine tasting in Napa and Sonoma, kayaking on the Napa River, and Mare Island Historic Park in Vallejo round out the day-trip options.

The Bay Area runs on a Mediterranean climate, so summer is dry and winter carries nearly all of the year's rain. Summer days in the inland Carquinez Strait area regularly reach the low 80s, while marine fog often pushes inland in the mornings and evenings, dropping nighttime lows into the mid 50s. This is peak booking season; full-hookup parks like Tradewinds RV Park, Vallejo RV Park, and Marin Park can fill weeks ahead, particularly around holiday weekends and Bay Area events. Spring brings wildflowers and green hills, with comfortable daytime temperatures and trails at their best at Skyline Wilderness Park. Fall stays warm and dry into October, then transitions to cooler, wetter weather. Winter rarely freezes near the bay, but storms can close trails and cause local flooding; Skyline has noted trails open but still very wet following December storms. Some seasonal sites at private campgrounds in the region close from late November through early March, so confirm operating dates before booking.

Most parks within easy reach of Rodeo are urban or suburban RV parks rather than wilderness campgrounds. Tradewinds RV Park has 78 sites with pull-thru options accommodating rigs up to 45 feet, full hook-ups including 30/50-amp service, complimentary Wi-Fi and cable TV, plus a laundry room, restrooms, and showers; sites sit close together and freeway noise from I-80 is audible. Marin Park offers hookups, Wi-Fi, on-site laundry, and walking access to the Larkspur Ferry. Skyline Wilderness Park provides full and partial hookups (electric and water) as well as dry camping, with restrooms and showers a short walk from the camping loops. Benicia's enroute sites are level with no hookups but potable water is available, and each spot has a picnic table and grill, intended for one-night stays only.
