Campgrounds and RV parks near Rollingwood, CA

Rollingwood is a small census-designated place in Contra Costa County, California, sitting just north of Richmond off Interstate 80 in the East Bay. The community covers roughly 0.17 square miles and uses Richmond's 94806 ZIP code, putting RV renters within a short drive of San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and the wine country on the north side of San Pablo Bay. The area has no campgrounds inside Rollingwood itself, but several private RV parks and a state recreation area sit within a 10 to 25 mile radius. Tradewinds RV Park is located about 20 miles north of San Francisco up I-80 in Vallejo, and is the closest full-hookup option and a common base for Bay Area trips. Benicia State Recreation Area, along the Carquinez Strait, offers three enroute campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to fully self-contained motorhomes or vehicles with trailers. Vallejo RV Park provides another in-town option near the San Francisco ferry terminal, and Marin Park and Marin RV Park sit across the bay in Greenbrae, the closest full-service RV options to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Private RV parks in the area, including Tradewinds RV Park, Vallejo RV Park, Marin Park, and Marin RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and many also list through Good Sam. Summer and holiday weekends fill first, so booking several weeks ahead is advisable for full-hookup, big-rig sites near the ferries. Benicia State Recreation Area operates differently. Its three enroute campsites are first-come, first-served with no reservations possible, limited to motorhomes or vehicles with trailers that are fully self-contained, and tents are not permitted. For other California state parks in the broader region, reservations can be booked up to six months in advance of arrival on a rolling window, with inventory opening on ReserveCalifornia.com each day at 8 a.m. PST, and bookings allowed until two days prior to arrival, subject to availability.
