Campgrounds near San Anselmo
San Anselmo sits in central Marin County, about ten miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. The town itself has no commercial RV campground, but renters have several full-hookup options within a short drive. Marin RV Park and Marin Park, both in nearby Greenbrae, are the closest RV bases and offer walking-distance access to the Larkspur Ferry into San Francisco. Golden Gate Trailer Park sits a few minutes south near the Highway 101 corridor. Novato RV Park is the next option north, with easy freeway access for day trips to wine country. Olema Campground, west of San Anselmo through the hills, places RV travellers next to Point Reyes National Seashore and offers full hookups, free hot showers, a laundromat, playground, and dog park.
The area mixes private RV parks with state and federal public lands. Private parks handle the bulk of full-hookup demand, while nearby state and national park campgrounds in Marin tend toward tent and walk-in sites rather than RV camping.
Things to do near San Anselmo
San Anselmo puts renters within a short drive of Mount Tamalpais State Park, Muir Woods National Monument, and Point Reyes National Seashore. Mount Tamalpais offers miles of trails, sweeping bay views, and the historic Mountain Theater (Cushing Memorial Amphitheater). Point Reyes adds coastal hikes, tide pools, elephant seal viewing at Chimney Rock, and the Point Reyes Lighthouse. Limantour Beach is a short drive from Olema Campground. From Marin RV Park or Marin Park, the Larkspur Ferry runs directly into downtown San Francisco, avoiding bridge traffic and parking. Cyclists can ride the gentle, paved Cross Marin Trail through nearby Samuel P. Taylor State Park. Families can mix beach days, redwood walks, and trips to Point Reyes Station for cheese, oysters, and bakeries.

Marin County has a Mediterranean climate with mild, wet winters and dry summers. The area averages around 765 mm of rainfall per year, with a distinct dry season from May to September. The wettest months run from November through March, with December and January carrying the highest monthly totals. Atmospheric river storms can close roads and cause flooding along the coast and through the Lagunitas Creek watershed.
Spring brings wildflowers across Mount Tamalpais and waterfall flow in the canyons. Whale watching off Point Reyes peaks in winter and spring. Summer is the busiest booking season, although coastal fog often pushes inland through the afternoon, keeping temperatures cool near the ocean even when inland valleys warm. Fall typically delivers the clearest skies and warmest days, with September often the hottest month, averaging highs near 80°F inland. Late summer and fall also raise wildfire risk across Marin, and red flag warnings can trigger campfire restrictions at state and national park sites.

Angel 😇 Life Saver ⛑️ Great Communication 📲📞 Informative 📚 PUNCTUAL ⏳️ Just a few words to describe this wonderful Host. When my prior host backed out and canceled on me the day of (There was no communication up til 48hrs before trip, and stopped again the morning of. I reached out for clarification and location, no response! Moments later Rveezy tells me the host is no longer comfortable with accommodating us) Evgeniy not only responed within 5min of me reachout out, but had us out and on the road to enjoy out trip within an hour. The vehicle is perfect, clean and easy to function. We had never driven or worked an RV before but his quick rundown and eargeness to answer any questions helped put out minds at ease. He is so kind, professonal, and absolutely Amazing 🤩. We will definitely rent from him again despite our extra charges for not having time to thoroughly clean out and fill up; but that was a very small price to pay for what we would have missed if he hadn't come to help us out of a pickle. They only gave the options of 5 stars so I'll leave the rest here : ✨️⭐️🌟⭐️✨️⭐️🌟✨️⭐️🌟⭐️✨️⭐️🌟✨️⭐️🌟⭐️✨️🌟⭐️✨️🌟⭐️✨️🌟✨️⭐️🌟✨️⭐️🌟⭐️✨️🌟⭐️✨️🌟⭐️✨️🌟⭐️✨️

How to book
Private RV parks in Marin, including Marin RV Park, Marin Park, Golden Gate Trailer Park, and Novato RV Park, take reservations directly through their websites or by phone. Summer weekends, Bay Area events, and Giants home games fill the closest parks first, so booking several months ahead is wise. Olema Campground takes reservations through its own website and is a popular base for families heading to Point Reyes. Mount Tamalpais State Park sites are booked through ReserveCalifornia on a six-month rolling window, with each new date opening at 8 a.m. PST. The Steep Ravine Cabins use a lottery-style reservation drawing on ReserveCalifornia, with applications accepted up to eight months in advance. Point Reyes National Seashore campgrounds are hike-in or boat-in only, with no RV camping inside the park.
What to expect
Marin RV parks lean urban and compact. Sites at Marin RV Park and Marin Park are tight and largely paved, with full hookups, laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi, and the trade-off for the small footprint is direct ferry and transit access into San Francisco. Olema Campground feels more rural, with full hookup RV sites alongside tent sites, free hot showers, flush toilets, a laundromat, fenced playground, and dog park. Cell service is reliable in Greenbrae and Novato but spotty west of the ridge toward Point Reyes. Coastal fog is common on summer mornings, and microclimates shift quickly between inland valleys and the coast, so packing layers and rain gear is sensible even in shoulder season. Larger Class A coaches should confirm site length when booking, since many Marin sites favor smaller rigs.
