The Brandywine Valley is the main draw, with Hagley Museum and Library and Winterthur Museum and Gardens both within a short drive of Bellefonte. Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania lies roughly thirty miles away with large horticultural displays and seasonal events, and the Brandywine River Museum of Art in Chadds Ford focuses on the Wyeth family of painters. For active days, Lums Pond State Park features bike trails for all skill levels, including the more challenging Swamp Forest Trail and the 8-mile Little Jersey Trail, plus the Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park with aerial obstacles, ziplines, and a Tarzan swing. Philadelphia's museums, zoo, and sports venues are within roughly a half-hour drive, and the Wilmington riverfront adds riverboat rides and minor-league baseball. Families can pair a campground pool day with an outing to a museum, garden, or state park, since almost everything sits inside a one-hour radius.

Pets are permitted at Delaware state park campgrounds but must be leashed and attended at all times. Cell service is generally reliable across New Castle County, and grocery stores, hardware stores, and RV supply shops are close at hand in Wilmington and along the US 202 corridor.
