Campgrounds near Greenville, Delaware
Greenville sits in the Brandywine Valley of northern New Castle County, a short drive from Wilmington and the Pennsylvania line. The area is more suburban than remote, so RV campers typically base at private parks in the surrounding Piedmont countryside and day-trip into the region's parks, museums, and gardens.
Options within roughly an hour include Brandywine Creek Campground, Woodlands Camping Resort, and the Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday, which sits along the Brandywine River in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Fair Hill Natural Resources Mgmt Area, just across the Maryland line in Cecil County, is a large public tract used mainly by equestrian campers rather than general RV travelers. Camp Country Center rounds out the closer private options.
Brandywine Creek State Park itself, three miles north of Wilmington, does not offer individual RV or family campsites. Overnight use there is limited to primitive youth group camping at the Tulip Tree and Hawk Watch areas. Travelers wanting hookups should plan on the private campgrounds listed above.
Things to do around Greenville
The Brandywine Valley is the main draw. Within a short drive of Greenville, visitors can tour Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, the Hagley Museum, Nemours, and the Brandywine River Museum, plus the Brandywine Zoo in Wilmington. The Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday runs a canoe landing on the Brandywine River, and river day trips through local outfitters are common.
For outdoor time, Brandywine Creek State Park maintains 14 miles of trails, a disc golf area, a canoe launch, and a well-known Hawk Watch where migrating raptors pass overhead from mid-September through mid-November. Fair Hill Natural Resources Mgmt Area offers roughly 80 miles of multi-use trails across about 5,656 acres, used by hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians.
Philadelphia, Valley Forge, and Lancaster's Amish country are all within day-trip range.

Northern Delaware has a humid climate with four distinct seasons: cold, sometimes snowy winters and hot, humid summers with regular thunderstorms. Mean annual precipitation is roughly 45 inches statewide, spread through the year, with August typically the wettest month at Wilmington.
Most private RV parks in the area operate on a seasonal schedule. The Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday, for example, runs its camping season from March 15 through November 30 and closes for the winter, with the swimming pool open only between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Summer weekends and fall foliage weekends are the busiest, and holiday weekends fill first.
Brandywine Creek State Park charges entrance fees from March 1 through November 30 and stays open year-round for day use, with sledding and cross-country skiing on the rolling hills after the occasional snowfall. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for hiking and riding at Fair Hill, while the Maryland 5 Star eventing competition in autumn brings heavy local traffic to that park.

How to book
Private RV parks in the region take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. The Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday books through the KOA reservation system and typically requires a deposit, with holidays and special events subject to unique deposit and cancellation rules. Woodlands Camping Resort, Brandywine Creek Campground, and Camp Country Center handle bookings directly through their own offices.
Public land in the area works differently. Delaware State Parks uses the ReserveAmerica system for pavilions and primitive youth group sites at Brandywine Creek State Park, with a cancellation fee applied if a booking is cancelled more than 31 days before arrival. Fair Hill Natural Resources Mgmt Area in Maryland requires advance reservations for its equestrian camping area, arranged through the park office.
Book summer weekends and fall foliage dates well in advance.
What to expect
This is a suburban and small-town corridor, not backcountry. Expect wooded private campgrounds with full hookups, pools, playgrounds, camp stores, and organized weekend activities aimed at families. The Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday sits along the Brandywine River and accepts rigs up to about 90 feet on its longer pull-through sites.
Cell service is generally reliable across the Brandywine Valley, and grocery, fuel, and RV supplies are easy to reach from any of the listed campgrounds. Traffic around Wilmington and along US 202 and I-95 can be heavy on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings.
Public sites at Fair Hill Natural Resources Mgmt Area and Brandywine Creek State Park are primitive and restricted to specific user groups, so RV travelers should treat them as day-use destinations rather than overnight bases. Pets are generally welcome at the private parks on leash.

visitdelaware.com/things-to-do/outdoors/camping/What license do I need to rent an RV in Greenville, DE?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Greenville, DE. Delaware does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs, motorhomes, or travel trailers used recreationally, regardless of size. You'll just need to be 25 or older, have a valid license from any U.S. state or Canadian province, and complete RVezy's quick ID verification during booking. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home auto club before your trip. Most guests are surprised how simple it is, you can be cleared to drive within a day of booking.
dmv.de.gov/services/driver_services/drivers_license/dr_lic_toc.shtmlWhat protection comes with my RV rental in Greenville, DE?
You're covered from day one. Every RVezy booking includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 52 toward Winterthur or head south to the Delaware beaches knowing help is a phone call away. You choose your coverage tier (Standard, Premium, or Peace of Mind) at checkout, and each level offers different limits on physical damage protection for the RV during your trip. While it isn't traditional auto insurance, it gives renters real financial peace of mind. Pro tip: if it's your first time renting an RV in Greenville, the higher-tier coverage costs a little more but takes nearly all the stress out of those tight Brandywine back roads.

Booking is low-risk. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every booking, so the rules are consistent across every listing. There's a money-back grace period right after booking, with additional refund windows that depend on how far out your trip is. If a host has to cancel, RVezy ensures guests receive a refund or travel credit. Because the details depend on timing, the full policy is documented in the RVezy Help Center, but the takeaway is simple: you can lock in your Greenville dates today without worrying you're stuck. Pro tip: book early to maximize your flexibility window.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Greenville, DE?
Absolutely, Greenville is a fantastic launchpad for a dog-friendly getaway. Many RVezy hosts in the area allow pets, just use the Pet-Friendly filter when you search for a pet-friendly RV rental in Greenville to see only those listings. Once you're rolling, your pup will love Brandywine Creek State Park (5 minutes away, leashed dogs on all trails), Alapocas Run State Park, and the dog-friendly beach at Cape Henlopen during off-season hours (October 1 to April 30). Most state park campgrounds in Delaware allow up to two pets per site. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and bring vaccination records, some campgrounds ask at check-in.
destateparks.com/know/pets/Can the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Greenville, DE?
Yes, RV delivery in Greenville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers nervous about driving a big rig through Wilmington traffic. Many local hosts will deliver the RV directly to your driveway or to a nearby campground like Lums Pond State Park, often for a flat fee that scales with distance. They'll level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through everything so you can focus on relaxing. Just use the Delivery filter when browsing, then confirm the destination address with your host. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer for Brandywine Valley wine-tour weekends, no driving required.

All offer water, electric, and dump stations. Pro tip: Delaware State Parks reservations open up to 11 months in advance, lock in summer weekends as early as you can.
destateparks.reserveamerica.com/When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Greenville, DE?
Greenville is a true four-season destination, but late April through mid-June and September through October are the sweet spots. Spring brings the famous tulip and azalea blooms at Winterthur and Longwood Gardens with daytime temps in the 60s-70s°F. Summer (July-August) is warm and humid (mid-80s°F) and perfect for beach runs to Rehoboth, though campgrounds book fast. Fall delivers crisp 60s°F days, fiery foliage along the Brandywine, and far cheaper rates. Winter (30s-40s°F) is quieter but doable in a four-season RV. Pro tip: book your Greenville RV trip for the last two weeks of October, peak color, smaller crowds, and shoulder-season pricing on most listings.
weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. How does the pickup and orientation work?
You're in good hands. First time renting an RV in Greenville? Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup (or at delivery), covering how to operate the generator, slide-outs, water and waste tanks, propane, awning, and the dash electronics. Most orientations run 30-60 minutes, and hosts encourage you to ask anything, no question is too basic. You'll also get the host's phone number for the entire trip, plus RVezy's 24/7 support line. Many hosts even leave a printed cheat sheet inside the rig. Pro tip: take short videos during your walkthrough so you can replay the dump-station steps later at Lums Pond, it's the question first-timers ask most.
nps.gov/articles/rving-for-beginners.htmWhat happens if I have a breakdown during my Greenville RV trip?
You're never stranded. Every motorhome rental in Greenville booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. One call connects you to a dispatcher who arranges a local service truck, very handy if you have an issue on I-95 or out near the Delaware Bay. Your host is also a direct lifeline for quirks specific to their RV. Pro tip: before you pull out of Greenville, save both the RVezy support number and your host's cell to your phone favorites so help is one tap away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Greenville RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is completely standard and one of the joys of an RV road trip from Greenville. You can freely drive your rental into Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and beyond, popular loops include the Outer Banks, the Finger Lakes, and Acadia National Park. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed with advance written approval from your host (and proper insurance documentation), so message before booking if you're planning Niagara Falls or Montreal. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance limitations. Pro tip: bring your passport even for U.S.-only trips, you'll thank yourself if plans change at the border.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat kind of fuel mileage and budget should I plan for?
Budgeting is easier than you'd think. Class C motorhomes in Greenville typically get 8-12 MPG on gas, Class B campervans 16-22 MPG, and trucks pulling travel trailers 10-14 MPG. Delaware gas prices are usually a touch lower than neighboring Pennsylvania and New Jersey thanks to lower fuel taxes, often $0.20-$0.40 cheaper per gallon, so fill up before crossing the state line. A typical 300-mile weekend in a Class C runs about $100-$130 in fuel. Pro tip: the Wawa on Kennett Pike right outside Greenville has easy RV-friendly pumps and one of the area's better gas prices, top off there before heading toward Cape Henlopen.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Greenville, DE?
Sooner is better, but you have options. Delaware State Parks open reservations 11 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer weekends at Lums Pond, Cape Henlopen, and Delaware Seashore sell out by February or March. For private parks like Philadelphia/West Chester KOA or Elk Neck State Park (Maryland), 2-3 months ahead is usually enough outside of holiday weekends. Mid-week stays and shoulder-season trips can often be booked just a week or two out. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the exact date 11 months before your trip, Delaware Seashore oceanfront sites get scooped up within minutes of release.
destateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Greenville, DE?
Greenville driving is mostly easy going. The village itself sits on the gentle, winding roads of the Brandywine Valley (Route 52, Kennett Pike), which are scenic but narrow, so take your time in a larger RV. I-95 runs just minutes east and is the main artery north to Philadelphia and south to Baltimore, expect rush-hour congestion 7-9 AM and 4-6 PM, especially around the Wilmington stretch. Watch for the I-95 toll plaza near Newark and several low-clearance bridges in downtown Wilmington, so avoid Route 13 viaducts in anything over 12 feet 6 inches tall. Pro tip: check DelDOT's live traffic map before you roll to dodge backups.
deldot.gov/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Greenville, DE?
Most campgrounds near Greenville are well equipped. Delaware State Park campgrounds like Lums Pond and Cape Henlopen offer water and electric hookups (30/50 amp), modern bathhouses with hot showers, dump stations, and potable water fill stations, full sewer hookups are available at select sites in Cape Henlopen and Killens Pond. Private parks like Philadelphia/West Chester KOA add full hookups at every site, Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools. Free RV dump stations are also available at most Delaware State Parks for day-use. Pro tip: Lums Pond's dump station sits right near the campground exit, making it the easiest stop to empty tanks before heading back to drop off your RV in Greenville.
destateparks.com/rv-camping/What features and amenities come inside a typical RV rental in Greenville, DE?
You'll be glamping, not roughing it. Most RVs on RVezy in Greenville come fully equipped: a queen or king bed, convertible dinette and sofa beds (sleeping 4-8 total), a kitchen with fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, plus a full bathroom with shower and toilet. Air conditioning, furnace, and a flat-screen TV are standard, and many include a generator, outdoor speakers, awning, and solar panels. Wi-Fi hotspots are common as an add-on. Class B campervan rentals in Greenville are compact but include all the essentials. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities list for seatbelts (everyone needs one while driving) and confirm with the host how many people can travel buckled in.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/seat-beltsWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for my Greenville RV rental?
You can customize easily. Popular add-ons from Greenville hosts include linen and kitchen kits ($30-$75), camp chairs and outdoor tables ($20-$40), bikes and kayaks ($25-$50/day), generators ($25-$50/day if not included), Wi-Fi hotspots, and pre-stocked propane tanks. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Greenville, with most trips running Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, ask about flexible pickup if you need an early start to beat I-95 traffic. Mileage policies vary, typically 100-150 free miles per day with overage at $0.30-$0.50/mile. Pro tip: bundle the linen kit and outdoor gear add-ons, it saves an entire packing day and makes loading easy.
usa.gov/consumer-protectionHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. When you book your RV rental in Greenville, RVezy charges your credit or debit card directly through the platform, no cash, checks, or off-platform payments to hosts. Most bookings split into an initial payment at booking and a final payment closer to your trip. A refundable security deposit (typically $500-$1,500 depending on the RV) is held separately from your booking payment and is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, then released after the trip assuming no damage or excess cleaning. Do a pre-trip walkaround with the host and snap photos of the interior and exterior. Pro tip: use a credit card with a high limit so the hold doesn't crowd out trip spending.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park or stay overnight in an RV in Greenville, DE?
You've got options close to home. While the village of Greenville itself is residential and doesn't allow long-term street RV parking, you're just minutes from great overnight spots. Lums Pond State Park (about 20 miles south) is the closest full-hookup option, and Brandywine Creek State Park nearby is great for day-use with the RV. For one-night transient stops, some Wilmington/Newark-area Cracker Barrel and Walmart locations permit overnight RV parking with manager permission, always call ahead. Cape Henlopen is the go-to beachside overnight, about 2 hours south. Pro tip: plan fuel and rest stops in advance, Delaware Welcome Center on I-95 southbound is a convenient pause point.
